Help, Evo 3D won't go S-OFF after reboot :( - HTC EVO 3D

Hi guys
My friend has a Evo 3D which he wanted to upgrade with a new ROM.
I said I would help him do it and we got started.
By mistake we went on the GSM forum and used this thread for guidance (dumb asses as we were, we didn't know we were supposed to choose CDMA):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535987
Everything went smooth and the ROM was installed with no trouble, that is until we realized that we had chosen a ROM that doesn't support wifi, instead of chosing a right one from the CDMA section
Now since the phone has been rebooted, it has lost S-OFF and we can no longer unlock it in order to change the kernel and the ROM.
When we use revolutionary it says that the ROM version isn't supported at the time and the phone wont let us change anything, it only supports 1.49.0007 and 1.49.0008.
The ROM used is LeeDroid 5.3.0 with Hboot: 1.49.0018
Is there any other way to get the phone unlocked again? We spent about 4 hours last night searching these forums and trying different methods but nothing worked.
I hope you guy can help!
Thanks in advance

If you were s-off then flashing a rom wouldn't remove it. Have you tried to boot into hboot ??? If not do this
Power the phone off.
Then press the volume down button.
Now keep the volume down button pressed.
Now tap or press the power button then release it.
You should see a white screen appear.
When it does write down all the info that you see and then post it here. This will help members better assist you with the issue you currently have.

When booting up to bootloader it says the following:
*** RELOCKED ***
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON EL
HBOOT-1.49.0018
eMMC-boot
Oct 3 2011, 15:03:01
and then the fastboot menu comes beneath this.

Are you sure you have the CDMA EVO 3D from Sprint ? If it is from Sprint, a sim card cannot be placed in it as it does not have a simcard slot.
Does you Evo 3d accepts Sim card?
I asked because ROMs modified by devs do not contain hboot/bootloader. So according to me it is not possible that it changed to GSM ROMs hboot.
It is only possible if you have flashed a RUU/PG86IMG.zip
And as you have posted that it says relocked then it was surely unlocked before which means you have used htcdev.com to unlock it and not revolutionary before.
And it was never S-OFF, if its a GSM phone you can unlock it again using htcdev.com.

[Q] Stuck on white HTC Screen after enabling bootloader

Hey guys,
i just tried to root my friends evo 3d.
After following the HTCDEV.com-Method (and installing revolutionary) i tried to install a rom (LeeDrOiD 3D 5.4).
After flashing the rom i just get a bootloop with the white HTC-Screen.
Here's some Info i got in the bootloader:
*** UNLOCKED ***
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.53.0007
eMMC-boot
May 22 2012, 01:06:07
I thought it might be the HBOOT-1.53 which is the problem so i tried following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22494488&postcount=1
Sadly we still get the white HTC Screen.
Any Ideas?
Did you make a backup? #1 rule when flashing
What recovery are you using?
Be sure to wipe all partitions before you flash
Also the Rom thread should give you requirements..ie hboot and such

Sadly i did not do a backup.
The leedroid loading icon actuallY shows for a second before the phone restarts.
My next Guess would be To install the gingerbread stock Rom. I will try that when i get home.
Any other ideas?
If youre s on, your choices are limited to stock based roms for the most part.
I have read a few posts about smartflash and flashing boot.IMG through fastboot, but I am s off and have personally never needed to do that.
So yes, start by flashing stock, to get you running.

Ever get it going? I have a cdma version with sprint that has a clean esn and working board but f'ed up lcd/digitizer. If your bricked for real or wanna just swap out boards then this will work great for you. And fyi its Eng Hboot 1.04 SOFF with revolutionary tool. was an original 1.40 hboot before the whole dev unlock crap that doesnt work for sh*t. my post about it is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282485 you can get at me with a PM if your interested.

Go to mwakious 3d rom thread. All step by step instructions are given their with bootloader. Use 4ext recovery to flash this rom. It should work 100%

used the wrong ruu

okay so sometimes the touch panel on my phone wasnt working right so i decided to make it stock so i can return it to htc so they can fix the screen.
so i first relocked the bootloader using qbking77 instructions and then i tries to ruu but i used the wrong ruu and now my phone is stuck at the bootloader

You need to get s-off via dirty racun... Then if you wanna go back to completely stock/unroot use VipeRuu, this because it looks like you are on the latest firmware for which we do not have an official RUU...
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
You will have to unlock your bootloader again and install a 3.16 based rom. Your touch screen problems are most likely not the screen but are caused by the touch panel drivers that were installed when you upgraded your firmware. Once you are on the latest firmware you can only use roms based on 3.16 and twrp recoveries that are 2.4 or newer. If you want to use older roms or AOSP roms you will need to go s-off and downgrade your touch panel drivers. Also, HTC won't do anything to fix your screen because you used the developer unlock and voided your warranty.
WOW thank you guys so much for ur help.this is the reason why i love the xda members so much they always come through with the help. :good:
i thought my device was done for good but i worked on it for a couple hours and i fixed it and its now rooted.
now my only issue is with the touch screen anyone know how i can fix that?

If your touch screen isn't responding once your phone boots, you have the updated touch panel driver and will have to use ROM's based off software version 3.16. You also must use TWRP version 2.4+. Once you gain S-off you can downgrade your touch panel driver and run whatever ROM you wish

[Q] **Relocked** ***Security Warning***

Hey everyone, ive run into a bit of a dilemma and im in need of some help. So a long while ago i rooted my girlfriends 3vo on sprint. im not sure what method i used but life came along and now we need to use the phone again after it sat unused for a year but i needed to unroot and return it to stock.
I found some tutorial explain how to unroot it which included using CMD and typing something along the lines of "fastboot lock oem". now the problem is something went wrong along the way and now the phone is stuck in fastboot mode. if i turn it off and turn it on it boots to fast boot. just a note; i believe i was able at some point to get it into recovery somehow if thats helpful (4ext) and i also remember it telling me there is no OS installed on the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512994 this seemed to be pretty close to my problem unfortunately it assumes slightly more technical knowledge than i have. im going to include everying my fastboot screen says from the top down to the controls of fastboot just in case its helpful.

You are relocked & S-on with hboot 1.5. you should be able to run the GB RUU (2.89.651.2) (??) and return to stock.

Do i need to use a RUU or can i use a PMG to downgrade my phone?
I know what i did wrong but i found that after i did it,i relocked my device with a custom rom on it so now i don't know if i need to use a RUU or what. Btw i can't find the right RUU for my phone :/. Help
Here's where you guys can find the RUU. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094402 (Click the link in the OP and then click "shooter" in the jumble of devices [xda won't let me link to it directly cous I'm a "noob"]) Just try and download the right version. I suggest using the .zip's just cous with .exe's you need a good USB connection and proper drivers and blah blah blah. BTW I repeat, please download the CORRECT version or else you might end up creating a very expensive paperweight.
thnaks for helping, but i still don't know what is the right one..since there isn't one with the same radio as my phone has..ofc i will use shooteru since i have a gsm phone but i dont know what radio..

hello,
I have rooted my phone and was working fine untill i by mistake formatted system from. Now nothing is working except a hTC white screen flashes when i switch on the device. Even using volume down key+power on button the bootloader opens. But when clicking recovery or factory reset button, the device stops at white screen showing hTC screen.
I am afraid whether it is bricked or what?
The screen shows:

Have you tried to enter in recovery mode? From what I can see the phone has an unlocked bootloader. This probably means that the phone is rooted and has a custom recovery installed. Try entering in recovery mode and let me know what will come out and maybe we can do a factory reset.

Thanks for the advice @denny.hell , and yea at 1st this is what I tried to do but no luck, will not let me do any factory reset, and no recovery mode, any other recommendations? I am thinking of installing the original ROM from HTC website via micro SD card, but don't know if it will let me do it because the phone its lock with pattern code

well my post was on December and I at the moment I have it in a shop, they cannot get it done, I will pick it up this week and give it a try once again.

If you can't get in recovery mode it probably means that the current recovery is not flashed properly. Try loking for a tutorial on this site that will help you flash the newest recovery available. If you manage to get a recovery up and running it should be a piece of cake performing a factory reset Let me know if you are having any more troubles.
