I themed my CM9 Galaxy Nexus notification drawer widgets to match the blue in the rest of ICS instead of the default white. I had an Epic 4G visitor ask about doing this for their phone, then a Photon user too! So I built this Zipthemer file to help y'all out. I don't have a Photon so I couldn't test this out. If you try it let me know if it works, or what doesn't work.

download zipthemer here
*How to use Zipthemer*
note: you may need a ROM you have flashed (CM9) in order to configure your edify script (this is the script that tells CWM what to do when you run your update.zip file)
1. Install zipthemer!
2. Open up the menu (on ICS it's the 3 vertical dots) and click on update edify (you will only have to do this once)
3. Updating Edify screen (complete either Option 1 or Option 2)
- option 1: browse to the ROM you have on your phone and click it -- done
- option 2: click on download, then exit out of the screen, click options (3 dots), settings, update script format, select your phone. If your phone isn't present, see option 1.
4. Download the zipthemer file (.zip), and using a file explorer, move it to the "zipthemer" folder on your sd card.
5. open zipthemer again, click the "+theme" button, select the theme you want to apply (you can select more than one, or even only certain parts of one)
6. click "*output" button and pick the name you want for your update file (or accept the default). Leave the "-update.zip" at the end of the file name and "/sdcard/" at the beginning so it will be in your sdcard root directory and easier to find when you go to flash it.
7. click "build it!", it will ask you if you want to create a backup file, I usually do just in case so I don't have to re-flash the entire ROM to undo my changes if I want to.
8. Exit zipthemer, reboot to recovery, flash your new zip file, reboot system, enjoy!
more notes:
a. as always, it's a pretty good idea to run a nandroid anytime you play with your system (this is a do as I say, not as I do kinda statement)
b. A lot of these type of themes where some system files are modified or system apps are modified, it's good to do a wipe dalvik/cache
c. if you update your ROM to a new nightly/RC/stable, re-build the zipthemer file. It's likely that this isn't necessary, but unless you know just what the CM team changed it's probably a good idea.

Maybe, I'll have to download the CM9 ROM for the SGS and look at the files to see. I'll look into it as soon as I can and let you know.

This will NOT change the color of your status bar. This will only add a transparent background to the drop down bar and place the Droid on the bottom right corner.
***Make sure USB Debugging is checked under Settings>Application>Development***
Here's how it's done:
1. Download & install Stericson's NinjaMorph from the Market
2. Place your desired Droid image on your SDcard and rename it to status_bar_background.png (doesn't matter where you put it)
3. Launch NinjaMorph and click tap on New Project
4. Go to /system/framework/twframework-res.apk (Files will get extracted and a backup is created automatically)
5. Go into /res/drawable-hdpi and find status_bar_background.png
6. Tap on the file and it will now ask you to find the image you want to replace it with
7. Find the file you placed on your SDcard and tap on it
8. You will get a warning asking if you're really sure you want to replace it (Tap Yes)
9. Tap on the blue arrow on the bottom right corner
10. Tap on Finish Project
11. Tap on twframework-resapk (NinjaMorph will now package/create the apk)
12. You will get a warning asking if you're sure you want to overwrite the apk (Tap Yes)
13. You will now get a warning asking if you want to zipalign (optional)
14. Tap ok on the next warning
15. Choose if you want to delete the project
Your phone should now reboot automatically and you should have your new Droid on your drop down notification bar that looks like this.

Looks great man, thanks for the mention. I'm about to flash now. Do you have a stock to revert?
eh I guess I can make a stock real quick...
I'm rocking the Green Android and it looks awesome. I've already shown it to a lot of the other Android Fans here at work, all are very impressed. Good job with everything man. Yeah, being able to revert is always nice rather than restoring a nandroid backup....
OP updated with revert..
im in the process of putting the finishing touches on a stock theme/template...
everything will be in it... that came stock anyway... and it will give those that want to start theming a little push in the right direction...
I will probably do a short demo of me morphing a bar from stock to crazy... start to finish
you sir are the man. If you do find time to do that, please make sure I know so I can add it to my sticky in the General section. That would help a ton, and lets be frank, the more people theming, the better for us all.
good job, this looks nice. I got the red and green
It did say the file doesn't exist so when I close it and go to existing to open the file there's nothing in it...trying to get the red one

check with a file explorer... if you can copy it into the root/directory of the theme it will be easier to find.. you're looking for Droid_Red.xml
if its not there redownload...
Just unzip the file then move the folder to the metamorph themes folder and select existing theme and click on the xm fileand apply all.
Yeah my comp double folders everything when it zips, or MM does it unzipping... IDK, it works if you apply manually by selecting the xml file..
Yeah I think this is breaking my market app. FC after downloading an app, reverting back to stock to double check. Will keep you posted.
^ no issues here, 3 updates and 2 new apps.
Try this.. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, market, uninstall updates and Clear data

I reverted back to original with no prevail. I did a Nandroid and market is working again. I did have the ClearBar Metamorph isntalled as well as the Segemnted Green battery status icon isntalled. Not sure if a mixture of these things was the problem or if something just went wrong the first install.
I wills say a great mod for sure, looks great!
This may sound dumb, but would I be able to use morphs like these on my Captivate?
Here's a quick How-To on applying a Metamorph. When it comes to themes, I prefer using Metamorphs over flashable zips. Metamorphs flash only the files that need to be flashed. Where flashable zips flash ALL files inside the .apk. This could potentially cause overwriting critical system files with older or corrupted files.
Step 1
Download MetaMorph from the Market.
Step 2
Download the MetaMorph file of your choice and place on your sdcard.
Step 3
Open the MetaMorph app(Allow Root access). Select "Unzip/Extract new theme".

}
Step 4
Go to the folder where you put your metamorph files and select the one you want to apply.
Step 5
If you want to apply everything in the morph, then select apply all. MetaMorph will then begin to run through the process of applying the images to your .apk's. This will take a while if there are a lot of .apk's to be skinned.
Step 6
Once MetaMorph has gone through the process of applying the theme, You are done. Unless you applied a morph which has framework-res.apk in it, then you will have to reboot your phone, then you are done.
can i metamorph any zip file or does it have to be a special zip file specific for metamorph-ing. I usually flash all my themes thru cwm.

CWM-flashable zips and MetaMorph zips are totally different. You can not flash and MM zip and you cannot MM a flashable zip.

The themer you got your theme from would have to provide a separate morph to revert back to stock.

Frequently Asked Questions (For Noobs)
1) How to install this theme?
First of all, it requires a "deodexed" stock/custom rom and CWM recovery
Download the theme and put the .zip in your sdcard
Boot in CWM recovery and select "Wipe Cache" and "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Reboot recovery
Select "Install .zip from sdcard" and wait till its done
Reboot & Enjoy
2) Can this theme work in JPU?
Yes, but I haven't really test it yet
3) Is there icon bug?
No, the .zip already contain some .jars and .so for fixing icon bug
4) Can this theme work in other firmwares?
I don't think so.........

Yes ofcourse it will run. But there s a point,
"If you're using a rom that already has 9lockmod (such as kyrillos, kyorarom, vivek's rom and etc), delete ALL the .jars and lib in the .zip before installing!!"
So if you already have 9 lockscreenmod enabled JPU in your phone, just delete the lib folder and all the jar files from /system/framework/ from the zip.
so all in one word:
it is enough to install the *framework*.apk files. Settings.apk is not really necessary.
The question comes up, because I am using a stock deodexed XXJPU and halcos 9lock package with extended power menue.
In this package there were only a few lib and jar files.
The package in this thread contains a lot of lib files. So I am a bit unsettled if it is enought to install the two framework apk files.
The aim of the game or better the root cause why this question comes up:
I have seen some strange pattern while moving the slider for unlocking the fone (4lock default). So I have decided to use invisible sliders and gre smybols.
But moving the slider very slow to the side... what do I see?
Looks like the slider description -> "freigeben" means "to release"/"unlock".
Have a look to the attachment for illustrating the words.
It´s just a cosmetic thing. So I would like to try the framework file out of this package and use my own icons for battery and so on...
If its not implemented in the apk files I assume that the *framework*.jar files may also be necessary to get exchanged.
decompiling and recompiling the *frame*.apk ends up in a mess of *.9.png errors, even unmodified, so this way is not usable for me
Thats why I want to try another theme in order to get rid of this small thing.
It runs very good on vivek's 6.0 rom
What if I'm on stock JPQ but have only 5ls and extended power menu? Do I get 9ls with theme or I have to install 9ls alone first?
Because when I first flashed JPQ and tried to install themes with 5 or 9 ls mods I had lots of crashes and new flashes...
hello all, like i said..this will work in ALL froyo base roms! so don't worry about it, just read instruction carefully

How many times have you gone through this: download a new ROM, backup all your apps with Titanium, reboot into recovery, perform a nandroid backup, wipe, install new ROM, boot and set up, then restore all your apps and data. Yeah, it's crazy. And it takes forever.
What if you could cut that time by a solid 20 or 30 minutes? Thanks to a new feature just incorporated in Titanium Backup, you can. With the newest update to TB Pro, you can now create a flashable zip of all your apps and data. That means that you can flash all your goodies right after a new ROM and fire up a system that's ready to go right out of the box.
You can try here
And for Pro here
uhh..... welcome to android?
EDIT: ahh... nvm... just realised that u pointed out the update.zip creation of backups well yea that is a nice feature
Who does not know for this app its not made for Android.

Hey i have trouble viewing the update.zip in CWM ( i change the name to titanium app+data;would that matter? i already have a folder named update.zip that's why) i can view if in my File Manager by CM. But no matter where i put the file it does not show up in CWM. And yes i did run the program first. And have tried installing and uninstalling it 3 times as well as a fresh slate on phone.
I am running unofficial CM10 11/2/2012 build for samsung infuse

I really did give it a try but It didn't work. I tried to change the icon from a file I pulled out of the Gingeritis Thunderbolt rom that I was using before I switched to the GN2. I just don't know enough about making these changes. Can anyone out there help?
I'd like the red and white icon to replace the plain grayish icon in the notification bar when I get new email (gmail).

Yes. But that opens another issue because notifications have a dark tint when you add color to them.

This is actually the image that resembles the current gmail icon used in the notification bar. With the envelope closed. I think the one with the envelope open is used in the app.

I take no responsibility for any harm that may come to your phone trying this.
You must be rooted for this to work
check out the links at the bottom on this post for ninjamorph stuff
****The new image must be the same size as the old image for this to work****
I was able to get the notification changed using ninjamorph and rootexplorer.
1. rename your image stat_notify_email.png
2. Open ninjamorph and start a new project.
3. go to data/app/com.google.android.gm-1.apk
4. When you click it, it should extract the folder.
5. On the next screen click copy it(lower right corner).
It should tell you where the copy was saved. For me it was on my phone storage in androidthemes/workspace
From there i went to rootexplorer( you could also do this part on your computer).
1. open androidthemes/workspace/com.google.android.gm-1.apk/res
2. Locate these file:
drawable-hdpi,
drawable-mdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-hdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-mdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-xhdpi,
drawable-xhdpi
3. This may just be an extra step but i went through each of these files and added .bak to the end of each original image so it looked like this: stat_notify_email.png.bak (this will keep the original as a backup in the folder).
4. Copy/paste the new image named stat_notify_email.png into each of these folders.
If you don't rename the files when you paste you will just replace the original.
5. Once you have placed the image in all the file you will go back to ninjamorph and click finish project.
6. Click the com.google.android.gm-1.apk
7. It will then create package
8. It will ask if you are sure you want to replace the .apk....click yes
9. It will ask if you want to optimize using zipalign...click yes
10. It will ask if you want to clean up/delete project...Click yes or no(up to you)
11. Once it is done, reboot phone and it should have the new notification icon but it will have a dark tint from the notification bar.
I have not done that much with ninjamorph so there probably is a shorter way to do all this.
Here are a couple links to using ninjamorph:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674604

Hopefully this works for you.
