Hello everyone. I just purchased a new transformers prime & keyboard. I have a rooted droid x running miui pics rom. Now the droid x can tether to my notebook. Can tether to my viewsonic gtablet. But won't tether to my transformer running ics. 4.0. Appreciate any help & advice. Thank you
Get the new system update and try again.
appreciate it
Hey thanks. I'm going to have to re-rom my dx. From miui to liquid gb. Because I suspect its the miui ROM. I had two friends one with a rooted dx another with a rooted Samsung & thy both were able to tether that transformer with no problem. As for the update I read about it. Its supposed to be Android adhoc friendly. Thank u. Always appreciate good advice

I don't know if this info helps, but I have a Droid X with unrooted stock Gingerbread on it. I am able to do bluetooth tethering to my Prime with built-in bluetooth functionality, and I am also able to do WiFi tethering with the FoxFi app (without paying a tethering fee).
very intresting
Hello JKVATO. that is very a interesting statement I'm going to look into Bluetooth tethering & that foxfi app. Isn't that funny I'm rooted & ROMed up & can't even tether to a brand new transformer but other people can. Something is wrong with that picture. I like Miui. But if i can't tether my TPRIME. That is not acceptable!
Tether
Hello, at some point I needed to edit some wpasupplicant files to successfully tether. If I can find the post I'll link it.
Well yes I was reading about changing & or editing the wpa supplicant files. & I considered trying it. & still may have to but I'm going to install another rom(liquid gb) & see if that works if you post that file edit information it would be greatly appreciated. I still don't understand how come some people can tether the TPRIME with no problems & others can't the transformer is by far one of the best Android computer devices on the market I hope that development continues to grow for it

I have a Droid 1 and it is rooted. When I run Barnacle tether my Flyer does not show that there are any wifi signals in the area. I do not have trouble connecting to my house wifi but I would really like it if I can get my Flyer to tether to my phone.
I know barnacle is working properly because I am using it right now with my netbook.
After doing some more searching it seems like this a problem with all tablets, and the only fix is to root the tablet. So I guess I will be patiently waiting for root.
I can connect to my evo using the wifi tether app. I would suspect that its the barnacle app and not the flyer.

I can connect to my Desire Z WiFi hotspot running CM7.
Ad-Hoc
I think Barnacle creates an Ad-Hoc network and that may be why the Flyer doesn't connect. It works fine with my Inspire 4G which doesn't use that method.

I am in the same boat, droid 1 patiently waiting for a way to tether to the htc flyer
I connect my HTC Flyer to my phone with no problem.
Yeah the issue is that the wifi hotspot you created is adhoc. If you use the froyo built-in tethering, that should work.
I think the problem is the Droid 1 and how it creates a hotspot. Because I have used both barnacle and also wifi tether with the same results. My netbook can see it but not my tablet.
I am not sure why this is because I am also running CM7, but I guess it must be the way the Droid 1 is. And until the flyer gets rooted there is nothing I can do about it.

As in the one you have to pay for through verizon? I don't like tethering that much. lol. Id rather just wait then.
Cm7 has built in WiFi tethering. You don't need an app to do it. I suggest trying that under the WiFi settings. You don't have to pay for it.

I don't know. Tmobile doesn't charge. But I doubt you'd have to pay if it's a third party ROM like cyanogenmod.

I have a rooted d1 running Project Elite 4.2 flawlessly. I can connect anything including an iPod Touch to my droid via Wireless Tether app with the exception of my Flyer tab.
Why is the tablet different then everything else? It does not even see the d1.
Any suggestions other than changing ROMS? PE 4.2 has been the best on my phone.

Thats exactly why I started this thread. I agree PE 4.2 is amazing you should try some of the new GB roms they have really come a long way.
If we get the flyer rooted there are some apps and some .zip files out there that can fix this for us. We just need root access.
As someone already suggested, it sounds like the Flyer's wireless client doesn't recognize ad-hoc networking. Only infrastructure networking like hotspots, office and home WiFi.
Maybe there's and apps with better control of the wireless stack.

I have tried several of the gingerbread Roms with poor results. PE, liquid and cm7 all run great at first but become very buggy after a day or so. My d1 likes PE 4.2 the best.
Are there other tether apps that don't use ad-hoc?
I have teh synergy rom installed, wifi tether keeps reporting errors. the rom came with another version with the yellow icon which loads but my netbook will not connect to the internet, i get no connectivity. any ideas? am i missing something? Im a bit of a noob when it comes to the 3d, had it working on my droid and and on my evo 4g. any help is appreciated and feel free to flame me for being a tard!
I saw a thread the other day that said in order to get wireless tether to work, you had to have 3.1 beta 2 and start and stop barnacle tether before starting it, but I'm not sure if this is the case for synergy
thanks for the quick response. I read in a few other threads from the past few days that its most likley because there isnt a custom kernel that supports it and to just use barnacle untill there is. ill be watching for a custom kernel with support! great job and hats off to the dev. on teh exploit and root! cant wait to see more!
Hello everyone!
I have my gtablet running the latest installment of Vegan and I love it. I'm always trying to make improvements on it somehow, and now I'm trying to tether it to my droid 2 so I can "borrow" its 3g. I've looked in the the Barnacle method, wireless tether for root users, and pdanet tablet. None of those really worked for me. I wish pdanet tablet was more stable otherwise it would be the perfect solution. Has anyone found out a stable tethering solution?
My tablet has the latest Vegan-Tab, and my D2 has gb 2.3 rooted on it, if that helps. Thanks!

I'm running VEGAn 5.1.1 on one of my gTabs and I don't have any problems tethering using either of my rooted Motorola phones (Droid X on Verizon and Atrix on AT&T) phones using Barnacle. I do have some intermittent connectivity issues with the lated released Wireless Tether for Root Users but after I started to use the unreleased version 3 beta it doesn't have that problem anymore.
On the other gTab I'm running CyanogenMod 7.0.3 and it doesn't have connectivity issues either.
Barnacle seems to want to work, but the gtablet keeps saying that its obtaining the ip adress and then itll eventually give up. also, the 3g signal indicator turns from blue to black. im not quite sure what that means.
I know it is possible to tether android tablet to an android phone via bluetooth so the tablet can use phone internet. Is it possible to do the same with two android phones? I know it's doable over wi-fi, but bluetooth uses less battery.
in this specific case two phones in question are thunderbold and incredible. thunderbolt is rooted, incredible is not but I can root it if needed to make this work.
thank you

Finally I installed ICS on my incredible and paired both phones but still can't tether. any ideas?
I still need help with this.
I rooted my incredible, flashed ICS ROM and installed wifi tether 2.7, there is a bluetooth tether option there.
my thunderbolt has BAMF SoaB and bluetooth tether is greyed out in wifi tether app.
according to my research, it's a kernel issue, I need kernel that has "CONFIG_BT_BNEP". I tried flashing several different kernels with no success.
if anybody is successfully running bluetooth tether on their thunderbolt, please let me know which kernel you have installed.
thank you
on galaxy ace doesn't work :-??
This would be very nice if anyone could get this working.
I've had my Moto Xoom paired and using my phones internet via bluetooth many times, but I think it would be convenient to share by Droid 4's internet with my old D2 as well.
Has anyone had any luck with this besides using a WiFi hot spot and draining your battery in a couple hours?
So i wanted to tether my G Tab to my Epic 4g phone. I installed Wifi Tether on my phone and it works great with other wireless connections like my computer. But it doesn't seem to work with this ROM... Did some general searches and it seems that AdHoc is not supported?? That there might be files that i can install that would fix this? Could someone help me out as to where i could find these file or whether it will work at all?
Thanks Guys and Gals...

I had an Epic Touch and had some issues with certain ROMs tethering. I just used my gTablet with my Motorola Photon yesterday and it worked fine. I'm using TeamDRH's JellyBean ROM and it works really well. You might want to consider giving it a shot.
I'm not 100% on which was to blame, the phone or the tablet, but here's their latest Jelly Bean ROM:

Maybe this will help. Might not be baked in to the Rom.
I'm running Gharmony 1.6.2 and it tethers perfectly with my EVO LTE, which is of course infrastructure tethering.
I had an epic 4g touch before my current phone and I recall that being adhoc tether. The fix might be baked in to Team DRH already.
Hope this helps.
