[Q] Installing apps error USB/SD Card - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, apols if this is a repost but I recently upgraded to official ICS XXLPQ and all is well apart from an error when installing some apps.
I get Error couldn't install to USB or SD Card once play shop has downloaded it.
I've tried removing SD card but it won't even install to the phone.
Thanks.

Update your CF-Root kernel 5.4
use this:http://download.chainfire.eu/152/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.zip

What he said. I had this problem because I was on 5.3.

Thank you both, that appears to have fixed the problem.

as an alternative u can unmount sdcard ->install app->mount sdcard

Some apps automatically install to the external. Any way to change this?

If you don't know how to do that, it might not be a good idea to root. You need to do more research. Keep in mind that you, and only you, are responsible for your device.

Boot into CWM recovery (power+home+vol up). Make sure you have root.zip from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26800724
Select "install zip from sd card", choose root.zip & reboot.

[Q] galaxy can't finish backup

Hello, I have a galaxy s3 rooted with cwm 5.5 something and I'm using revolution Rom by Mike based on JB. I wanted to do backup so I'd be able to recover it at some point in the future, however it says that it can't backup system somehow, shall I update cwm through ODIN and then check?

Have you got enough space on your sd card to perform a backup?
I've got round about 2 gb

Link2sd problem

I installed link2sd and also created auto link for all apps and also selected internal as my default location for new apps then also apps install on sd card and I have to link them all over
Is there any app or something which forces then to install on internal memory

Why do you need to do that? This fone already has such a "HUGE" internal memory........There are only a few apps that should be stored in internal memory and you can do that manually.

Back up ur apps and data. Format your sd card and make a partition from cwm....you need an ext2,3,4 to work with link 2sd. Your one partition would be fat32 and another an ext partition.

Will ext partitions work with stock rom kernel....
I have heard in the tutorial it won't
If it will which one is the best u think so and why

If you are rooted. It will work with anything (stock or custom). I would recommend Ext2 or 3. Make a partition with cwm.

eh, u did read the info i gave about sd-ext?
ext2 doesn't include journalling so boot up time is slow...for more see the link in my signature!
NOTE: With any kind of partition ext2/3/4, the loading time will increase as apps are being loaded from sd card which is slower than internal memory!
But i cant make ext3 mount script iy shows invalid arguement anyone have a solution for this

You need to have ext3 partition which can you get by cwm. But backup sd card before partitoning.
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app
I have done that and then created ext3 mount script on link2sd and error showed in simplicity v5 is there any rom problem????
