How easy it to unlock the network of the Xperia S? I am buying one locked on Orange but need to use my 3 sim in it.
Cheers

Whatever the minimun spend is, probably 100stg.

why buy it from orange when three sells it cheaper and unlocked
Hi guys,
My friend can send (Austria) me this phone but is sim locked.
Is there good way unlock the phone?
Docomo unlocks at point of purchase for a fee.
Check provider to see if they will also.
I'm buying from a friend, so it will be locked to O2, what's the easiest/cheapest way to have it unlocked?
Thanks.
O2 send the unlock code free of charge on request, it took 17 days for mine to arrive but no questions asked and it worked.
Ok, cool. Do you just call them up? Or pop in one of their shops?

Andy O2 models of the phone have a bootloader that's locked and it's not unlockable yet. You testing just using the phone or you considering to hack it?
At the end of it all, I'll be reviewing it. I did want to put ICS on it though. About 15 minutes ago I've seen the bootloader of this can't be unlocked though
Nothing that can be done?
**EDIT** Sorry, silly me, you've said not unlockable yet Thanks.

One thing you can do though is to use the flash tool to flash the latest update..73 has had positive results in improving battery
I think it is already .73
**EDIT** It's not, downloading the update now.

How can we do this?
I've been reading all over trying to figure it out!
Also, I'm guessing T-Mobile would try to charge for Unlocking the phone?

Believe so. When I boot up it has the T-Mobile logo.
I'm having real issues with lag and Xperia Activity Home force closing and the phone completely locking up, so I'm hoping I can stick .73 on it.

I just sim unlocked my phone from at&t and have it debranded and rooted.
I'm just wondering, since I'm running a global generic firmware, will upgrading to gingerbread affect the root or sim unlock on my phone when it is finally released?
Sent from my X10a using XDA app
No it shouldn't, that is done on a deeper level than just the firmware.
The Gingerbread update will un-root your X10. Hopefully the devs can get it rooted shortly after, however they are having trouble rooting the ARC 2.3.3 update.
Are you talking about the sim unlock? Or the root?

Thanx, I was pretty sure that was the case, I just wanted to confirm it. I was more worried about having to pay to get it sim unlocked again, but I shouldn't, should I? That has something to do with the bootloader, not the firmware, right?

Sim unlock
Who did you go through to get your sim unlocked? I've been looking around and it looks like most of them are scams and I don't wanna get ripped off. I just switched to tmobile and want to use my att xperia still. I just wanna get reliable info from someone about it who has had it done.
the best place to go and for a cheap 14 bucks is http://davinciteam.us/index.html
they are great and will help you through it very reliable just make sure if you are not sure contact them they will talk you through the proccess
They don't have the x10 on their list. Damn, anywhere else that doesn't rip you off that might have it?
i just have my x10a from att unlocked to use with tmobile now, i got my unlock code from unlocking.com for 35 bucks i think and it took them about 10 days, it works perfect tho, i've been using on tmobile for couple of months now and i flashed so many roms and the phone still is unlocked. ah, the best thing about that site is they give you unlock code not software craps like the other do, so you might wanna try, good luck

Same question here. Mine will get here on Tuesday...I do know there are a bunch of methods to sim unlock i9100 though.
So... long story short, the GS2 still uses nv_data.bin files like on the GS1.
Of course, Samsung has encrypted/obscured plain text access to the unlock codes within this binary file. However, I do believe the folks over on the i9100 forum have figured it out, so it's probably not going to be too much of a stretch to get the AT&T GS2 to work too.
The phone literally just dropped though, so give people a few days to actually get the devices in their hands, get nice stable root and all that (already done maybe even), and from there, carrier unlock will come.
Or, if you're the impatient type, and don't mind the chance of screwing something up, try some of the methods from the i9100 forum and see if they work!
I used the galaxy s unlock app from helroz, worked like a charm. Can't post a link but it's on the market.

Yup, rooting is required to unlock.
Sorry, I'm fairly new to the term "unlocking" phones. Does this mean that you can use with any carrier? Is there anything else that "unlocking" a phone does that a normal one can not?
Thanks in advance!

yep mine too on o2, i found this link on a old XDA thread about paying to unlock the bootloader (can't link as a new member but if you search for phoneunlockserver)
I'll use that as a last option if all else fails
I would be willing to pay for a working root solution on my locked bootloader XpS
My biggest fear is...xda devs have worked with Sony to get certain bootloaders unlocked. So it will be locked down pretty tight i'm guessing.
Hopefully they left open a root option without the need of unlocking the bootloader. If so i'm hoping the solution comes fairly soon.
The bloatware they have stuck on here is ridiculous,

It's possible that you may well be able to root without unlocking the bootloader. There was something called Zerg Rush exploit on other phones, which is what I used on my Xperia Arc.

No, you have the wrong understanding. Phones that are provided by, or customized by, a carrier are usually not "unlockable" due to the warranty claims. Only phones bought directly, or paid for in full (rather than on a "lease" from the carrier) are unlockable.
It's a matter of who carries the warranty and what they decided to do with it.
Ok, i will buy one without contract so i assume its not provider locked...

I hope so as well, I loved messing about with my Desire with the roms on this site, almost made the end of the 2 year contract bearable.

There is nothing we can do with locked bootloaders as of yet until there is method to use s1 tool which unlocks bootloader like it did for the 2011 devices

Apparently sim-unlock a sim-locked XS won't make any difference to the bootloader status.
Does anyone know if flashing it to another official rom (un-brand it) make any change?

It all depends where are you taking it from. If you are taking it from retailer, such as T-Mobile, more than likely it will be simlocked, because T-Mobile does not want you i.e. to use that phone with another network SIM card, but if you buy it from shop, like Sony, Phones4U, Carphone Warehouse, etc... they are selling unlocked phones, so they could simply put any mobile carrier SIM card in. There are exceptions though.
I would like to carrier unlock my SGS3 without rooting it. Is there a way to do so? I am willing to pay for such a service.
I will buy the phone from Comviq (Tele2) in Sweden.
Anyone who have tried one of those online services where you buy an unlock code?

They won't. You need to have the phone at least a year before they give you the code. Does anyone know a trusted website where you can unlock the international SGS3?
BTW! Can someone give me the link to "rooting method" carrier unlock? I might just root it if I can't find a trusteed website.

Hi! I'm thinking about getting myself an Galaxy S3, but the one I've been offered is locked to another swedish carrier. I'm using Telia and the phone is locked to "3".
Is there a great carrier unlock-software with minor (or no at all) bugs or required reboots? I'm also thinking about installing Cyanogenmod or another Custom ROM to it..
Is this the one and only great solution that fits me the best?

Sorry but that is the best I can find. Although this doesnt look too difficult. The codes on the phone seem to be better encripted than on other phones so therefore software isnt an option.
Try phoning the carrier you are locked on even if it wasn't your contract and see what they can offer you! 3 Seem to be better about unlocking than other carriers as they are based in the uk they are required by law.
hope this helps

firstly you need to flash the tmobile based ics modem ( flash in cwm or twrp) found here:

then after flashing boot into your rom and follow these instructions exactly (note: after pressing perso shaf256 off I had to press back twice instead of once, but then I was back on the network page and could choose [4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALLIZ):

Can't wait to try this on my Bell Note! I'm going to Florida soon and have been procrastinating on getting the phone unlocked...
Score one for procastination!
I was surprised when it actually worked... I got screwed out of an unlock code by an online company (only 8 bucks but still) so when I saw the t989 modem and thread about free unlock for their phone (using the same modem you can flash on ours) I had to try it! I flashed a rogers radio afterward and the unlock stayed also.
Thanks for posting! I'll definitely be trying this out when my Note arrives on Saturday.
Worked perfectly!
I am impressed! I worked like a charm in the very first try! I used a AT&T Galaxy Note I717 with stock ROM (I717UCLF6, kernel 3.0.8). The best part is that later I flashed another ROM (Padawan) and it remained unlocked. Did a couple of phone calls and it is working great! Thank you so much! :victory:
you're quite welcome guys! Figured I had to share the wealth on this one and hopefully save some users some cash and/or getting scammed by too good to be true unlock code site "deals".
Got my note unlocked for $3 but I will pass this method on.
Thanks.

Sorry, Crixley. I think your post is appreciated, and though I wasn't terribly excited at first, I did thank you. I forgot to push the Thanks button but that's taken care of now. I wasn't sold at first that this unlock would work but it appears to be valid for several users. And, being an ATT user for many years, I can get my unlock with a simple phone call. However, I see your post as very valuable for many others. So, THANKS!
