[Q] Calls not going through after flashing new RUU - HTC Rezound

Don't know if this is just me or what. But since i installed the new RUU my wife has complained that she has tried to call 3-4 times but i never get the calls. In the past i have not really had this issue at all. And at other times i have no problems. Any one else heard of this issue or have it themselves. Also, IMO i believe signal strength is weaker with the new radios. What do you guys think?

signals have been better on all 3 rezounds i had with the new RUU (returned some due to overheat issues). I haven't heard of bad signals for the new RUU. Did you make sure you installed it twice? what ROM are you running?

I've missed several calls as well since upgrading to the latest ics firmware, most times my phone only rings once or twice before going to voicemail. Never had any issues with the January GB firmware.

No missed call problems here that I am aware of since I upgraded. I still get a signal in my basement, where I couldn't before with other HTC phones.
I installed the leaked RUU the day it was leaked, and I am 100% stock, still locked and everything.
Only issue I've seen is battery life is around 10-15% less at the end of the day, and it does seem to get a bit warmer than before, but not out of control.

No more than an hour after I posted, my phone rang one time and stopped before I could answer. It was my wife from her office and I just assumed something came up so she hung up. Now it just happened again from someone else. I grabbed my landline and called my phone and tried. I got really varying results...
First call it didn't ring at all on the cell before going to voicemail.
Second, it was 4 rings on the landline before the cell started, then another 5 before it went to voicemail.
I've tested it about a half dozen times since and it is working fine.
Not sure whether it is the phone or Verizon. I really haven't noticed this till today.

Yea my wife called apparently about 3 time in a row this afternoon. I was on my phone on XDA actually and it never rang. finally on the fourth time it went through. This has me a bit worried.
kryptik06- yes i did run the RUU twice. the rest of the phone is fine just this one issue. I am running Clean ROM Developer Edition.

I think you guys with issues need to reinstall the RUU, I've setup about 36 phones on the new RUU, a few people had very similar problems and the reflash solved it. But I haven't had anyone tell me about problems like this after the install was complete. Well one guy couldn't connect, but his sim card was upside down, turning it over promptly solved all issues.

My problem since the update is cell reception is awful. Looks good (full bars) till a call comes in. When I answer, it drops to 1 bar, or dies completely.
I have downloaded the RUU a couple of times, so as to eliminate download issues. My data is good and fast. It's just calls suck.

[Q] Randomly Restarting??? Coverage drop?? Help!?

So my Thunderbolt will randomly restart sometimes.. and drain the battery life down by at least 15%...
Other then that I wont have 3G in places I most definitely should..
I haven't down any root to the phone.. Not too familiar yet with it..
I have the extended battery with it? Maybe that has something to do with it? Idk..
If anyone has any advice/tips/tricks, it'd be much appreciated!
If you're getting random reboots and your phone is not rooted then return it and get a new one. There is something wrong with the radio in the phone.
i had the same problem except i was getting shut downs rather than reboots. it def is the radio, rooting and flashing various stock-related radios fixes the problem. as for services im getting good data service but poor reception. infact my brother picked up the droid incredible 2 and i compared how many bars of reception we had and it was about he same.. 1-2 bars, will sometimes cut off and come back on again. i evem get voice mails without missed calls, another sign of dropped service.. weird but it may be in verizons coverage for sure.

This is a problem known to Verizon with their latest radio release for RUU 605.7. Engadget had an article on this a couple weeks ago. Don't return the phone. Try a different radio and or ROM combo. Mine does it... And it seems to do it more in some areas than others. I travel a lot.
My wife's Stock TB (with OTA update) had random reboots. When we went live here with 4G her phone did not pick it up at all. She called Verizon for replacement and they suggested a factory reset first. It picked up 4G and has not rebooted since.... just a thought

[Q] need help with data issue, interseting problem.

So ive been running gingeritis for 4 days with no issue, then suddenly early this morning I only had access to sites I go to frequently, google search brings no page found, no weather updates, no voice search, one out of ten apps download, two out of eleven pulse feeds update, and I show full 4g with data transfer arrows both ways. A friend 50 miles away is having the same issue. Is anyone else getting this?
Same here. Reynoldsburg Ohio. Started happening around 1am. Things are pucking up though it seems
4Geezy ON DopeDiculous's ROOTED TBeezy!
Is it just us with gingerbread radios or are froyo radios getting it too?
Same problem here. I'm on Bamf GB and this morning I've lost all Network Connection. When I reboot I have 3G for less than 10 mins then it's gone and doesn't come back. I tried flashing back to bamf 1.7 with froyo radio and still having this problem. Finally I flashed all the way back to my stock root backup and it works. I also have friends running GB Roms now getting this problem...
same here on GB rom.. in LA
Alright guys I hope this helps but I finally got network connection back. I flashed the new GB Radio here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115714
Then I flashed Bamf GB Rom again and turned on LTE/CDMA network settings (I don't have 4G where I live). I rebooted about 3-4 times and finally my connection stayed on. After about an hour I turned it back to just CDMA and it stayed.
Hopefully this helps, it worked for me. Just wanted to share.
Went to the Verizon store and all of the 4g phones were doing the same thing. Must be a Verizon issue. Lol. Go figure

Lol yeah after I spent all freaking day screwing with my phone. FML
there are some people on the other threads in the deleloper forums having the same problem, but since I haven't posted 10 * times i can't post and tell them that verizon is having issues
I am just going to post four more times so I can post over there and tell them
also it looks like more and more cities are getting affected as the day goes on
hopefully they straighten out the 4 g issues soon
and it looks like it's happening 2 more and more people
solved. Lte is having compatibility issues with ipv6. Lol Verizon isn't compatible with the internet. Haha

Texting problems, think it's my airave. Hopefully not my device/roms.

Here's my problem. I can receive texts but I can't send them. I've tried the stock messaging app and downloaded ones from the market. I have gotten like 6 or so different texts from my gf yesterday and today. I have gotten each one at least 20 times. It will not send a text out at all. I'm hoping it's something simple. Doesn't seem to matter what rom I flash either.
I got a new airave device from sprint the other day and it works great for calling so far. Boosts my signal from 0-1 bar I used to get to full signal. I'm going out later so i'll know for sure when I get off the airave signal if I can send texts. Sprint has tried resetting it on their end but no change yet.
I was looking in my phone and I didn't see anywhere in the settings about updating the prl. Guess that isn't a option when you flash a rom? How can we update the prl then?
I'm currently running superkang senseless ics.

I can guarantee you it's the Airave. Those things have so many problems. I had one, and used it for 3 days before i put it back in the box.
Customer service is trying to fix it now. My signal is great. Just getting no data from it right now. W/out it I get very poor signal at my house.

Hopefully you've gotten it straightened out by now but I had the same issue and unplugging my AirRave for a minute or so and plugging it back in did the trick.

Thought I did. But still not yet. I thought it was my rom cause I left the house I still had no data. I flashed a different rom and I got my texting and internet back. I got home and still can't send texts. Very frustrating. Time to call sprint again

So I finally got it. They had to do a bunch of things on their end. Finally got someone that knew what they were doing.

[Q] Thunderbolt Radio? Signal Issues

tl;dr - TB is losing connectivity, almost no 4G, do I flash new radio? Which one? (post sounds less ignorant)
Out of nowhere I started to experience some really crippling internet & data issues. To be fair, I'm running CM7.1.1 which says that it has some known data issues, but I think these are a bit much.
I started to lose 4G connectivity completely - the symbol will show up on the screen, but just won't connect to anything. If I change the network mode to CDMA / EvDo it usually will pick up 3G at OK speeds, and will usually have 2-3 bars for regular cell coverage. 3G will work in and out, in for the most part. 4G I have managed to get up for about an hour, and now I can't get it at all.
Previously, I had a few disconnect issues but I'd reboot and everything would fix up quickly. I've done about 15-20 reboots in the past three days to no avail.
I figured that it might have something to do with radios... I spent a solid half hour or so researching flashing RUU's (how to, problems, etc.) and there is a LOT of conflicting information. Would flashing a new RUU help my issue? I think that it might... I'm currently on baseband 1.39.00.0627r (From the 1.70.605.0 RUU), and the latest is MUCH more recent.
I'd love some help / advice with if I should flash a new radio, which one, and if there is anything beyond the regular flashing / warnings that I need to worry about. Also, should I flash both LTE & CDMA separately? The names of the zip files are the same...one at a time? probably a noob question?
Hope this wasn't a repost of something, but I did a search first and couldn't see anything quite the same as this. Googled as well.
Cheers
Try ThunderShed it is much more up to date than the version you're running.

Thanks! If I flash a new radio is it going to wipe the device anyway? I wouldn't mind keeping my current setup, but if it's going to wipe there's no reason NOT to just upgrade to ThunderShed.
No. Try the radio that came with the newest ota. That's the one I'm using and it is working well.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Those didn't help much at all... I'm just going to flash ThunderShed and I'll bet anything I'm going to have better luck with that!
Exact samething started to happen with me except I'm running liquid gingerbread 3.2. Out of nowhere. My wife's thunderbolt gets great 4g connection but mine only 3g. I flashed latest radio but no dice. Wonder what's going on. I'm about to reset.

I've had the same problem twice before.
First off, I normally use only around 4GB of data a month, except during months that I have to travel. I never, ever tether (too risky).
In December 2011, I went to go visit some family over the Christmas/New Year's break. They rarely use the internet, so they opted for a cheap dialup home connection. Luckily for me though, the area was covered by LTE. In order to keep myself occupied, I streamed some Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and other videos to my phone. After around 20GB of usage, 4G and 3G just died. Despite me changing around from CDMA Only to CDMA Only (PRL) to LTE, I was only able to pick up 1x. Flashing new radios didn't fix it, flashing new ROMs didn't fix it, leaving the battery out overnight didn't fix it, travelling an hour away to another family member's house (different tower) didn't fix it, getting a new SIM card didn't fix it, getting escalated to Tier 3 support didn't fix it, completely formatting the phone and installing official RUUs didn't fix it. I spent about a week trying to diagnose the problem, and was about to just use my insurance to get a replacement. Put my phone in the charger one night, went to bed, woke up, and 4G and 3G were back, about exactly 7 days after it first went down. Very odd, but I just chalked it up to a system glitch.
However, the same thing happened again in May 2012. Again, I visited my family and watched videos streamed to my phone to keep me occupied. About 10GB into the month, I had to leave for a trip to the other side of the country. While there, I had some downtime a couple of evenings to watch some movies. At 15GB, a similar thing happened. I was unable to connect to 4G, but 3G (albeit terrible connection) and 1x (faster and more reliable than 3G actually) worked fine. I thought that maybe the tower I was connected to was just experimenting with 4G before officially flipping the switch. However, no matter where I went, I was still restricted to 3G and 1x. After a 2000 mile flight back home, I was still restricted to terrible 3G and 1x. Again, after about a week, the problem went away and I was able to get on 4G again.
So, either my phone gets finicky when I have a lot of data usage, or Verizon likes to temp. ban 4G users who use lots of data in a short period of time.
You, my friend, were being throttled. That is exactly what happens when you get throttled.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
My data usage was less if anything. You sound like you were getting throttled, I wasn't... mine are just obnoxious connectivity issues.
I flashed (and am still working on) Thundershed now, it's a beautiful ROM - I'd recommend to anyone running CM7.1.1 on TB to just switch over... it's the same thing (base CM9) and you get ICS as well which seems to have increased the performance anyway.
There were other annoying bugs with the TB build of CM7.1.1 such as the inability to have headphones in the phone while talking (people just couldn't hear you) and some weird proximity sensor issues on phone calls.
Hopefully this new ROM is going to take care of the issues that previously annoyed me... the TB is a great phone and I'm glad I'm going to be able to get the most out of it now.
Thanks for the tip off to that ROM, disconecktie!
Yea its a fantastic rom. I ran sheds stuff on the Eris for around 2 years and if it wasn't for him that device would have died quick.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
And now you're running this on your TB? Yeah, seems like the dev community over there really has a lot of respect... he's active and does bug fixes too, really great stuff. Cheers
He's a great dev but you wont see him on xda. People over here pissed him off. I didn't like 1.5 much but the fixes he brought to 1.6 made this rom awesome again.

As far as ur radio issue I was having the exact same problem yesterday and I live in the southern California area. My girl was perfect 3g on her dinc, I couldn't get any data at all and when I did, only 3g. Killed my battery quick too cuz it kept having to reconnect. Quite annoying, seems to b better today tho. Could of been just an off day. It was weird too cuz i finally shelled out for a rezound battery and that was my first day experience. Lol I thought it was the battery till today when its been solid all day. Running gsb 3.3b btw with imos kernel.

.19 radios
I'm running Thundershed 1.6 w/ imo lean 184 6.2.1 using the .19 radios and other than having the GSM and LTE options ALL available to choose from, I'm having no issues at all. The 605.9 radios are very stable too. Hope this helps!
I suspect Verizon was working on the network for the past week or so. I had issues too, nothing big and I saw a few posts on AC where people had issues too. It seems to have resolved itself now.
I am in southern Cali too having the.same issue 4G goes in and out, 3g is solid I don't think I am near anywhere 4gigs...

similar problem
Hello all. First post. I'm a noob. Watched the video.
I see this post is 3 months old.
I'm having similar issues at home in Tyler, TX (we have 4G). One day my Verizon thunderbolt signal drops to 1X or nothing at all as far as data. This happens for several days. Verizon creates a ticket and calls me 2 days later to tell me it's not them. I travel to northern Kentucky (cincinnati area) to visit my son. Issue follows me to Kentucky. I root phone but am still using stock rom b/c I don't have a clue what I'm doing!
I travel to Dallas and my phone is healed. Blazingly fast. I can't keep up with it - it's so awesome. I decide I like this piece of crap after 1 year of hating it.
I travel home to Tyler today. I'm back to 1X or nothing at all.
Questions: So do I flash a rom with a different radio??? Is that how I can get a better signal? Scared straight b/c I have an E-key app that I use to get me into homes (home inspector) and I can't afford to have that app not work.
Thanks in advance

I live in overton tx and I don't have that problem. Maybe try getting a new sim. You may also check to make sure the golden tabs on the back of your phone are in good shape and make contact with the gold pads on the battery cover.

Strange phone issues

I'm having a strange issue with my POS X2. A couple days ago my phone quit working with voice and text. Data with 3G and wifi was fine. The phone had CM7 on it at the time. All settings looked fine including Network Preferences. Although I live in a low signal area the phone usually connects. I went into town where signal is excellent and it still wouldn't connect. It would immediately pop up "call lost".
I decided to sbf with the 2.2.2 which voice and text starting working again. I did all the OTAs to 2.3.5 which I still had voice and text- for a while at least. Voice and texting stopped working again with the same issue. Along with voice/text phone would stop syncing data while phone was in standby which means Skype would disconnect and any emails wouldn't be pushed until I woke the phone up. I even have my wifi set to Never sleep as I always have.
Again I sbf'ed, this time to 2.3.4. Voice/text starting working again but syncing still isn't working properly. I rooted and flashed back to CM7 since I could no longer stand Blur. Voice and texting seem fine still but again the phone fails to sync while in standby.
The phone is out of warranty and don't have Asurion insurance. What options do I have to get this phone replaced other than having to go buy a new one which is out of the question for numerous reasons. Does anyone know if this is something that can be fixed or am I screwed?
happened to me, some data got corrupted and i sbfd and flashed a dozen times and it wouldn't go, grab an md5checker from the play store, get fresh downloads of the 2.3.4 sbf and gapps and try again wipe wipe wipe. syncing is most likely a software issue not a hardware replacement cause
cm7dx2
A quick update. I wiped the phone three times prior to SBFing to 2.2.2 FroYo. Then wiped I wiped once after. Activated the phone and added by Google account. Accepted all the OTAs up to 2.3.4. Unfortunately I still lose data when phone goes to standby. Went ahead, rooted, flashed CM7, wiped a couple times, and once again and no difference. No data while in standby. I'm starting to notice it happening even when the phone's awake.
I've ruled out the router since all other devices including two laptops and my wife's Incredible on CM7 has no issues. I Googled this issue and found someone else on a Milestone with the same issue and never seem to find a resolution.
This sucks! Maybe it's time to write this phone off and go back to an older dumb-phone. No other options unless forking over ****loads of $$$ that I don't have.
Giving up.
I'm giving up on this and will just call my DX2 beyond repair. One more time I decided to wipe numerous times and SBF and I come back to no data even when the device is active. Even trying to send it text messages from my wife's phone and most of the time I don't get them until later. Right now I'm currently on completely stock 2.3.4 with no root.
I suppose it's time to start saving my pennies and get something that won't change my data plan.
FML
Update: I decided and let the phone update to 2.3.5. Wifi never stays connected, voice/3g rarely works. It just gets better!
Tried talking to VZW today and was told they can't help me since my phone is out of warranty. Figures. But boy do they want to sell you a new RAZR and switch to their "money saving" plan! (yes that's what I was told!). Anything for a buck. Worthless.
