My Streak has developed a serious problem; 90% of the time when I make a call I cannot be heard by the recipient. When I receive calls all is well; communication works in both directions. But whenever I instigate the call I can hear the second party clearly, but they cannot hear me. Is this a known problem, can anyone suggest any possible causes?
Many thanks.
I have the exact same problem sometimes. Thinking of going back to 360.

360? What's that?
360 is the version number of one of the stock ROMs available for the Streak and is the last official ROM Dell produced for unlocked Dell Streak units.
As for your problem, we need a few details such as what ROM you're running so we can attempt to troubleshoot a bit.
Ah yeah, of course. Thanks. My Streak is not rooted. It's an O2 phone in the UK, running Android 2.2.2 (OEM version GAUSB1A135100).
I'm going to recommend a factory reset. But, while you're at it, you might want to think about upgrading to 360 if you don't want to try one of the Gingerbread custom ROMs.
Thanks Strephon for the advice. I think I'll probably take that route.
Anyone who followed this thread may be interested to know that I've discovered the cause of my one-way-calls-only problem. I have the app "Sanity" installed which I use for recording phone calls. Despite popular belief to the contrary, it records calls very well and both parties can be easily heard. However, when I disabled the call record function of the programme my one-way calls problem stopped immediately.

I searched the forum but could not find this. Please bear with me!
While I get incoming calls in my X10i, the phone sometimes rings and sometimes doesn't. This results in lot of missed calls. Very weirdly, if the phone rings in the first call, in the next call, it might not, or vice versa. This happens without any specific trend. Any help, please?
Secondly, can anyone please tell how to check the proximity sensor? I somehow feel mine is not working, as previously, the phone would light up on taking out of cover. Now it doesn't.
Any help any one?

Then can it be that some downloaded app is creating this problem? I dont have any volume controller app, but can some downloaded games or other app doing this to the phone?
So the ringer problem is not mine alone. Can a software update fix this?
are you using a task killer???? it seems to be the root of most evils... suggest switching any autokilling off if you are.

While on an outgoing call, I can hear my contacts, but my contacts cannot hear me... Anyone else has/had this problem and know of a solution? Btw, I'm on the 351 build and rooted. Thanks in advance!

What steps have you taken to troubleshoot this?
Tried with the speakerphone on?
Tried with a wired headset?
Tried with a bluetooth headset?
Did you recently install any apps?
When did this start?
This started a few months ago (even with stock), but I always thought It had something to do with "Total Recall" (a phone recorder app)... but after finally uninstalling Total Recall and clearing cache, the problem continued. I also tried everything u mentioned and everything works perfectly. It's only when I use just the phone its self to make calls I run into this prob.

Install StreakMod Recovery and make a nandroid backup.
Reset your phone using the reset in the settings under Privacy. Test the phone. If it works resinstall your apps one by one to check. If you still have the same problem after a reset with no apps installed I would suspect a hardware problem.
Will give it a shot. Thanks.

Do you ever just bump the mute button with your cheek? This is a good possibility if they can't hear you halfway through the conversation (sometimes my head falls off the light sensor causing the screen to turn on).
You know what?... that's a good possibility. Thanks

Yes I have the same problem. I traded my HTc desire for dell streak stock rom not rooted. 5 inch is great, really great. But at leat one in seven calls I can hear the other person, but that person not me.
The lock screen is also unresponsive, same 1 out of 7, I just can't answer, because the slider won't slide.
Sometimes the screen is also unresponsive in general, especially the lower part, I have to change to landscape mode and then hit the kill all apps button, after wich the screen works fine again.
First I thought these were problems caused by the stock music player, but now I dunno anymore. (music quality is much better than on the desire by the way)
also bluetooth calling works really bad. People always complain about the echo of their voice. I tried 3 differents headsets. Bluetooth music works great though.
Maybe this streak is just bad model. No wonder The guy wanted to trade.
I faced the same issue on my Streak5. For almost 3 weeks i was chasing this issue and was absoultely fed-up. Actually i had recently changed the sim card for my telephone operator, and i thought that was the issue, so i fought with the telecom operator to get it changed but no difference. Then i suspected some software is screwing up, so i went through all the installed software and jotted down every software that had some audio/mic relation. Finally in the list i most suspected a call recorder software called "Call Recorder Free" by Clever Mobile and BOOM ! I uninstalled it and that was the culprit indeed ! My phone is working perfectly fine now ! Please beware of this or any such software.
you guys could try to use the olleh 407 ROM or use the custom ROM where usually custom ROM is the best alternative for streak...
Hi everybody,
For some reason, on my X10 mini pro, making outgoing calls is no longer functional as it should be.
I'm making a call, and when the other end picks it up, I'm abled to hear the 2nd side but he isnt abled to hear me, though the same wont apply when having an incoming call, both sides hear each other (though I heared complains about low vocal volume..)
For now, I have attempted to make a factory reset, which seems to have worked.
Yesterday, I have done the same to the phone (factory reset) and brought up all of the apps I needed, make a call test, then went to CWM and had a restore.
Today when I've recovered it, the problem still presist and I dont know if its something releated to apps that I have installed, or some wierd behaviour of the phone... (tried plugging out the bat, didn't do.)
Sim card is fully functional since I had no problems making a call after a factory reset.
Anyone can assist me locate the problem and quarantine it?
Thanks in advance,
Ron
AGH!!!!!!!!!! Problem solved!!
Found out that viber is apperantly causing this trouble, by uninstalling it and home-calling test, seems it cured the problem... GONNA POST SOME MAJOR BUG REPORTS TO VIBER AGHK!
Mhm... submitting a ticket to viber support,
And a reply ;
"Altered, or customized ROM units are not supported by Viber. Nevertheless, we have heard of success
stories from our users. Our recommendations to you would be to uninstall and re-install [try again]. Or to find the proper customization which works best with Viber. Returning the ROM back to the it's original settings is of course the best option."
Any ideas why this is caused on my MiniCM6 (Cyano) mod on my X10 mini pro?
I'd really like to use the program...
I use voice chat on Skype a lot, but I also love the speed from 4.4.1 + crpalmer's kernel + bionic libs, however, there's one thing that's keeping me away from that speed, and that's voice chatting being broken on 4.4..Does anyone know a fix for this or know what kind of problem it is? Is it a 4.4 ROM problem or a kernel problem? Whether stock kernel or crpalmers, whenever I initiate a Skype call, it literally kills my ears, it makes this extremely loud screeching and static-y noise that never goes away unless I restart my phone...Anyone know what's up with this?
As far as I know, it's a hardware issue, and not a software issue. I was having the same issue with Newt's 4.2.2 GPE ROM. I got tired of the Skype bug and installed the Unofficial CM 11 (Before official was announced), and the issue was still there. I did an RUU to 1.15. Still had the issue. Installed Newt's GPE again, the problem isn't there anymore. So I'm assuming it's a hardware issue. If possible, take a look at the logcat when trying to voice chat on Skype. See if you see any errors regarding the microphone. I think it's just a fluke. Some people have the issue, others don't.
Its a kennel Issue I have the same Prob too

As far as I know, Skype audio has been working right in CM 11 since December 10th. Please tell me that you are running a more recent ROM than that.
For giggles, I just verified that I have no audio problems using the Skype test service either using the phone as a handset or using speaker-phone. I didn't bother trying headset or bluetooth as those were more likely to work in the first place.
If you still think that there is a software problem, please install the latest nightly of CM 11, do not install anything except Skype, do not restore anything, do not change anything (especially ART). Verify a problem using the test service and then provide a logcat in the CM 11 thread. Also, repeat the same steps with a stock ROM and verify that it works there.

Hey guys! This is my first Android device, coming from the iOS Eco system. I am very happy with my purchase thus far! However, I'm having an unusual problem with the Hangouts audio call feature. I'm running 5.0.1 and the hangouts apps are up to date. During an audio call, I get disconnected with the person I am calling quite often, especially if I lock the screen during a call. But oddly enough it still happens if the device is awake. Is this a known glitch or is it something unique to my device? Any recommendations? I've already tried clearing the cache, but have not tried it again sense. I will also point out that calls are okay when I use the Hangouts app on the iOS devices.
Thanks for any help.

I don't get disconnected but i lose the microphone meaning the other person can't hear me, but i can hear them.
Is that what you mean by getting disconnected?

Yes, I guess that is a better diagnosis. Have you found a way to revive the microphone once that occurs?
It happens on Skype and all voip apps as well, so not just hangouts.
Seems like an android software bug on this device.
I think plugging a headset and unplugging brings back the mic until it happens again.
Here is the same discussion o the Skype forums: http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/nexus-9-tablet-looses-microphone-during-call/td-p/3736171
Hopefully google will fix it in the next software update.
