LG Phoenix P505 GingerBread Rom + Kernel Sources
I am posting this to xda developers in hope that someone will make a customs kernel for the P505. All P500 Roms work on the P505 so its all good there, but we need a custom .35 kernel for the P505 so we can overclock on the new Nightlies. Right now the only .35 kernel we have right now doesn't have wifi, which is a big must. But can a developer please compile a .35 kernel that is overclockable for us P505 user. Please and thank you.
Hopefully we can get a P505 section going and have active users. But till then keeping my fingers crossed.
Offical LG Open Source Link
Froyo v10e - Mediafire Mirror
Gingerbread V20F - Mediafire Mirror
I'm also hoping...
Any news?
Nope nothing yet, ill let everyone know if i hear anything
Someone please help us!
Just wanted to mention that i'm actually going to begin attempting to compile us a good working kernel, or something to hold us off, then make a better one ^_^
Working on it
Will make a build for Gingerbread and one optimised for ICS.
Looks like you guys have a armv7a, will take a look at making a p505-specific device folder too.
Can someone pm me a link to a stock Gingerbread rom?
Thank you arjen! I will link you now.

Rewrote the def_config for the Phoenix and tried to build with our cm9 kernelsource, seems to build ok
Need to try on the official cm7-kernel too, but I expect no problems.
Wrote a device folder for CM9 on our github: https://github.com/lgics
It's not finished yet, need to upload some more changes to the kernel and vendor folders.
Also looking for the Thrive now, can someone confirm the original Phoenix kernel also works for it? (It should at least work on some versions of the Thrive as I have read, but want to know for sure.)
I can't tell you how thankful Myself as well as many others are for your help in building us a kernel. I have been successful at compiling the stock kernel from source, but am still researching on how to sync the cyanogen's kernel features with the p505. I know you are a very busy dev but if you have any free time it would be awesome to get a few pointers from a great DEV such as yourself. Once again THANKS!

Hello!!!
Dear Developers, we need you!!!
I need a kernel...
I can do testing, supply log files, etc...
Thanx a lot!!!
Is anyone working on a p505 kernel to use newer p500 roms? Id really like to use a currently maintained gb rom.
We need new links
The LG link is dead (html 500) and the mediafire links both go to the same file.
I was really happy to see this, but now I am just sad. Will there never be a solution for pheonix?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
we have plenty of kernels for the phoenix. and roms...
check original development thread.

Hey, this whole line of phones is a little confusing. The person who says that it's an arm7a is probably correct, as are those who say it's arm6. There are several phones in this line, the P500, P505, P506, and P509 (and maybe some others, I'm not sure). The 505 & 506 are both att variants, the 505 got a firmware update awhile after it launched, that included the upgrade to arm7. the 506 never got that update, so it is still arm6. I'm not sure what the 500 and 509 are. There is a method of flashing a modified 505 firmware to a 506, but it is risky at best. There are also mods for numerous ROMs that make a 505 work on a 506, but I'm not sure how they work. Anyway, figure I'd throw my two cents out for what they are worth.
Edit: I am incorrect. It does not look like any of these phone were ever arm7, just new versus old Baseband.

As promised:
Please note that this is a very unstable, but nevertheless bootable, version of Android 2.2 for the X10 Mini - The first successful port to my knowledge. Don't expect anything to operate properly, apart from basic functionality - it's an experimental ROM in very early Alpha. All I'm doing is making it available for developer scrutiny and/or manipulation
Installation

Copy zip file to SDCARD - No special partition required to my knowledge
Load using Xrecovery - "install custom ROM from zip"
Don't ask me to fix things for you - I'm just as much a NEWB as the next guy.

As far as I'm aware, this is the first and only successful port of Froyo to the x10 mini/pro, so as the chap above said - "Why not?"
Hopefully somebody with a bit more knowledge can play around with it.
I'm gonna try to deal with it...AOSP should be much easier to port than Sense. Atm, I'm stuck with sense rild :// . Althrough I'm not top dev, just experienced enthusiast .
Cum on guyz at least anybody tried this......well i really appreciate ur work buddy.....but if it does nothing that we are still really far from the reality of 2.2

I think you do need to have the bootloader unlocked. And supposedly there is a way to retain the 4G with the pudding thread. Not for sure on that though.

Can we get a definitive answer on this please? Can we unlock bootloader, flash kernel, then relock bootloader? Is this possible? This should be in a FAQ imho.

i have no idea if you can relock the bootloader with a custom kernel running.
you need to use a program like setcpu to change the cpu freqs. right now its 1.1ghz but im going to look into seeing if we can push this bad boy higher.
im kinda surprised at what appears to be a lack of interest in this, everyone was clamouring saying "kernel source was out why dont we have kernels!!!!" then it died down and people got to being depressed about this phone, now two kernels come out in one night both of them offering new features

Thanks for your kind words. I have removed only 5 apps right now, Mcafee security suite and some Champions leage apps.
I had originally removed loads of bloatware but i must have removed something crucial because after flashing the ROM i couldnt use the camera key and the home softkey.... Weird eh? I will have to do lots of trial and error removing one app at a time. For now i just shared it to recieve some feedback regarding stability, speed, and battery life compared to the stock rom.

As i do not have the Mini myself I cannot guarantee that i will go further than my knowledge as of now. Its the first Rom i have made, and I want to keep a close eye on what i make. Maybe someone who has a mini can port it, and can use the Krsh Kernel. They are almost identical, only built for another device.

hi mate....... is it possible to bake rom with no bloatware at all? really tired of this se crap........but not ready to switch cyanogen yet.........thanx a lot
after a few days of use, this rom feels slow, I didn't tinker with the default overclock options, but there are some freezes, the phone seems to struggles.
It didn't feel that way with the stock rom.
I'm going to flash the stock rom back, and just get rid of the bloatware.
You should set the OC options with the OC UV beater, because the phone is set to work at 900mhz instead of 800.
Also it could be cause of the Kernel. Try stock kernel.
Update 17/12/11
Removed all bloatware, only left what is needed.
Switched to Arc Launcher.
No need to flash the new boot.img it wouldnt allow me to cook the rom without it.

Here is a ROM for all you G3 users. I will be releasing it as soon as the BUMP Unlock website is up and the instructions for BUMPing a ROM is released.
SDPY ROM focuses on speedy and features an ART runtime optimised for LG's hardware. It is based on Android 4.4 KitKat with G3 stock icons for the apps.
The DPI has been changed from the stock 640 DPI (which at 1440x2560 would mean the phone is 4.7") to 530 DPI (closer to 5.5").
I have forked and compiled my own android runtime from ART sources with optimisations for the LG G3's hardware for use in this ROM.
Working:
- Camera
- Wifi
- Bluetooth
Testing:
- OIS
- Laser Auto Focus (It is being handled by the hardware for now)
- IR Blaster
Todo:
- NFC
- Knock On (this is a software feature, but I'm adding it to the ROM as many G3 users like it)
- Quick Circle
Looking forward to sharing this with you guys, and yet another reason for BUMP to be released.

It is AOSP ROM?
I am guessing it is a themed stock based rom, but I might be wrong.
Also your benchmarks, they are not much use to use unless you tell us what model of the phone you were using, does it have 2 or 3GB of ram?
Cool, waiting for it!

Did you somehow modify the kernel?, that's only the reason I can think of for it to need bumping......

@mesquka I don't think you need to be bumped to flash stock
The model of the phone, as you can see in the screenshots it's D855, so 32GB.
The ROM itself is AOSP however I am using the stock LG icons as I like the look of them.

well even if it was a stock based rom (which he has now said it is not) if the kernel has been tweaked or modified in any way then you need to Bump the image.

the d855 actually comes in both 16gb (2gb Ram) and 32GB (3GB ram) so pointing to the model number doesn't necessarily answer the question. But thank you for the clarification.
Is all the hardware working?
I have ironed out most of the major bugs with the hardware, however, cellular reception is not as good as it was with stock ROM, I'm not sure what the issue is yet (pointers anyone), but I hope to find it soon. Bluetooth does play up at times, but it is tolerable (maybe for about 5 minutes just after pairing).
