I had mentioned "Something Special" is in the works a couple days ago. As a part of this I need an clean ODEX backup of the Electrify. The procedure is as follows;
One "Factory Reset" (don't want your personal info) unlocked Electrify w/ CWM Recovery
Run Recovery and create a backup
Zip the /system/app and /data/app folder and name it as "Electrify Stock"
Upload and PM me the link
P.S.- If you happen to have ANY current 2.3 Moto Blur phone, doing the above will be much appreciated.
I will not go into what this is for but I'm quite sure some of you can guess. Don't spoil it.
Please please tell me

No trouble. Have had the phone for one whopping day, so nice to be able to help out already.
I'm a lazy sod, grabbed the first bootstrap recovery I found for the Photon, which turned out to be sorta-port from the Droid X2, and apparently the Atrix before that. Long story short, old recovery, so spits out .img instead of .tar. You can have the whole system image for the Electrify, I'll pack the RAZR's /system/app up properly.
Uploading now, will add the links when my connection gets around to finishing the job.
EDIT:
Stock 2.3.5 Electrify system image: http://www.sendspace.com/file/5tn660
Stock 2.3.6 RAZR /system/app dump: http://www.sendspace.com/file/w7k7a4
Did his files work?
Sent from my Motorola Electrify using Xparent Blue Tapatalk
Status:
img are a no go, going need tar files that contain /system/app and /data/app. If some one can get me a tar for the Electrify I should be able to release a proof of concept shortly afterwards.
Still need tar files for other current motoblur phones.
The second link is a straight dump of /system/app from the RAZR, extracted from a nandroid tar, so that should be fine.
Will find a more recent bootstrap recovery for the Electrify and get back to you.
What do you need from /data/app ?
Sent from my Motorola Electrify using xda premium
Got things mixed up (working on parallel projects with minor differences). I've fixed the OP. I simply need system/app and data/app from clean STOCK Odexed motoblur phones in tar not img. CWM5 will do this. They need to be clean for your safety and this project. Sorry if I'm being vague or secretive about it but the project goal is for all motoblur phones.

Everything. There's actually other areas of the factory rom I could use. This may turn into a really big project, really quick so doing it in phases makes it easier.
Update:
So far It looks like I have the Photon, Electrify and GSM RAZR covered. Hope to have a beta out today so keep an eye on the dev section.

What is the best way to make a full backup/image of my Photon including the operating system? I currently use Titanium to back up all files and apps but I need to back up the OS too.
Does the ROM Manager from the Android Market work on the Photon?
NANDroid is best way.
IF you aren't unlocked, use the CWM bootstrap recovery.
If you are unlocked, use the Clockword Mod Recovery to NANDroid.
Restore NANDroid via the method you used to create it.
ROM Manager currently does not support the Photon. There are tweaks to make it work with the photon, I believe, but those require an unlocked device and some complicated tweaks.

What files do you need?
I need the folder that is in the CWM folder that contains all the other folders for the complete nandroid.

For a full backup it's takes about 20mins to do. It will be about a 500MB ultra compressed zip and about 2GB extracted so I'll need some time. Also, if you intend to restore from it don't be surprised if you MAC addresses get hosed.
What release do you need? 198_6 or 198_7?
I need 198_6. I understand it would take some time and be a pain in the but so I understand if you don't wanna do it, but it would really help me out. Would I need to worry about losing my Mac address if I restore from my nandroid once I get what I need from yours?

Awesome, thanks for the links!
A question: in the second link above, if I follow it through and try to download 198_7, the file has a .gz at the end of it. Delete it and continue with the flash process (extract sbf, etc)? And this is for both the Photon and Electrify, correct? And lastly, there always seems to be a little file with it, usually labeled data working. What's up with that?

extract the .gz and youll have the 2.3GB's of sbf goodness. from there go ahead and flash that using rsd lite. the data working etc etc is yay's flashable cwm zip that he managed to get data working..

Nope, it will flash you back to full stock.
Update if you flash to a non-ntelos phone you must not wipe data OR give it a "reason" to mess with your current service programming. You could loose 3g over time anyway if I don't figure out how to hack the 8035 seem.
If any non-Ntelos users want to flash this please post about. If I had done certain things I may have kept 3g. You are warned. You may lose 3g anyway.

But now its different we have the mx2 nand to correct what the Ntelos sbf puts askew. We know the nand works & well.
So it still may be one way but it may work w/ the nand following after.
I would like a C Spire sbf!
Lets wait to see if the sbf & the nand fix a bricked DST milestone x2.
Edit
The sbf changes the baseband & may not be compatible with vzw.
The nand does not touch the baseband so the mx2 nand works but the mx2 sbf may never work, but what the hell do I know!

Jamiclnt80 to answer your question it is not possible to downgrade once the 2.3.6 update has taken place. This update changes the firmware with security updates. Once that has taken place then you can not go back! >.< I have tried several times but as of now we have an sbf, root access so why at this point. Lets move forward! I hope that helps
These are all the updates I could find, most of the 2.3.5 updates came from a couple threads here, the officials I pulled from my phone. I renamed them to clarify what they do, since each one only goes from one particular Android version to another.
edit: Added the SBFs since I don't see the 2.3.5 one in the stickies, I can't remember where I found it. The others are in threads here.

Hi, my name is Travis, I've been a verizon slave since 2009 with the bb storm. Moved to a droid then x and x2. I'm currently on an incredible 2 and I hate it. Through much push and pull, I got to keep my service on the incredible and also keep an x2 along with a free extended battery.
I rooted 2.3.5 on the x2 and now looking into roms. My software learning curve isn't steep so I thought I'd send a shout out to the devs and members here. Looking into finding a great rom for the x2 withing the next few day.
Oh yeah, I'm leaving in a month for basic in the AF, going into cyber surety(basically legal hacking) and looking forward to it.
Thanks for reading, I'll be around!
Welcome. Every one here is awesome and will help if you need it.
Most all x2 roms are built on 2.3.4
Eciplse is on 2.3.5 though, and is a very good, stable rom.
If you want more excitement than try some of the ics, cm9 based roms. Just know that they are buggy and being worked on. Aokp, paranoid android, and of course cm9.
Cm7 is much more stable then th ics builds and could easily work as a Daily driver.
Good Luck.

I was thinking about the eclipse rom, It looks really nice. It will take a bit. I'm still reading and this forum is huge. I haven't found the "how to" thread yet on roms. Sure I'll find it. Thanks for the warm welcome.
I would check out the Cm7 rom thread. It has some good links to the guides you want as far as sbf, root, nandroid backup and bsr(aka cwm recovery).
Eclipse won't let you down.
If there is anything I can help you with, then don't hesitate to pm me.

Welcome aboard sir, and as an AF vet good luck with your service and thank you for stepping up.
As for roms you will find much more action happening with the 2.3.4 build as others have already mentioned. CM7 & 9, PA, AOKP are all based on 2.3.4.
You will absolutely want to find the "How to SBF" thread and get setup for doing an SBF. To my knowledge no dx2 has ever been "hard bricked" but "soft bricking" can and does happen which means SBF is your salvation as of course is nandroid backup. And my last piece of advice would be to make a nandroid backup of 2.3.4 Stock/Rooted, particularity if you are a"flashaholic" as some of us are on here...lol
Anyway welcome to the friendliest forum on XDA.

+1 for eclipse since it is the most stable and sounds like you wont have much time for figuring out any bugs that may occur on the ICS based Roms since you will be serving our country lol. Good luck, and thanks.
Wow. Thanks for all the warm wishes and thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'll be sure to post back about my Rom upgrade.
I like cm7 for the customizations, I have used eclipse for awhile and it's fantastic as well but i always find myself floating back to cm7. Just curious, there seems to be great roms for the dinc2, what about it did you not like?

After rooting, protecting root with voodoo, and temp unrooting:
Just take the OTA update to 2.3.5 by going to System Updates in Settings-About Phone. Then restore root using voodoo and delete backup.

System update is the easiest way but to answer your question yes you can just use rsd to get on 2.3.5 b418 because 2.3.5 is now rootable. You don't have to do the long method via voodoo ota rootkeeper any more.

Wow I feel like I've been struggling for nothing. I was already on a rooted version of 235
I also want to ask about the eclipse pack, it should be an unzipped file on my sd card correct? I'm reading around and I see "zipped" and "unzipped." This is my first rom so I need to be sure.
Thanks again.

If you have already SBFed and are going to do it that way then yes. Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707 for any future questions about SBFing or just ask. If you are already on 2.3.5 then there is no need to sbf because you can just root 2.3.5 now.

All flashable roms should be a. Zip file on your sd card. Don't unzip the rom file.

Yup just leave it zipped and placed on sd card not in a folder. Boot into system recovery and "install zip from sd card."
Thanks, going to try this out!
Grrr. I'm getting
E:signature veridication failed
Installation aborted
WAIT WAIT, don't tell me. I can figure it out. I'll post back soon
Thanks
