Issue with Titanium Backup? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Lately I've been having an issue where titanium backup has been freezing up. I'm on Saurom VI (Att) with transfuzion 3.2. I'll go into TiBu, start a back up or scroll through the list of apps and it will black out then ask to wait or force close. I've tried fixing permissions, reinstalling TiBu, enabling superuser and reinstalling superuser so I did a nandroid restore. Anyone else having an issue?

Seems silly to suggest but is usb debugging on

Yeah, but it's not like I just enabled it. Haven't had any issues. The only thing I did today was install the transparent Google play and the transfuzion dialer update. Doesn't seem like a reason TIbu would fc. I just saw a thread regarding the issue so I'm going to read it now. Thanks for the thought/ idea.

There's a thread going on here for this already.

In the international forum, they were suggesting to chat the Play store/market app data and change some settings in TiBu. However that didn't work.
I actually ended up going back to a previous day's nandroid backup and it solved the problem. I do think that it is related to the market, though.

I am getting like half of my apps Force Closing any time I try and run them. I performed a full wipe when I installed it... Could it have something to do with my Ti Backup restore?
Most likely ... What was the last back up you performed? If it was from a GB ROM that will definitely cause issues.
Typically I just restore data from certain USER apps only, never any system apps. I have been OK thus far doing it this way.

Last backup I preformed was a full backup of stock... This is my first rom... I know cherry has been popped... kind of a big deal.
I have had the same experience, even when moving between froyo Roms. Seemed to happen mostly with Amazon "free app of the day" apps i downloaded.
I just posted a process for backups and restores in the thread right before this one that has worked well for me. ( Link below)

Did you try to fix permissions? Good place to start.
sent from a sweet paper weight.
When i had this problem, fixing permissions from Rom manager didn't help. Maybe I should have done it from recovery? My problems seemed to be apps from the Amazon market.

Titanium Backup

Hello all
why is it that TB cannot restore accounts.apk
had to delete it awhile back due to an password problem.
TB just kina endless loops on installing the apk
is this atrix related. cause i know TB on my xoom cannot "protect" a backup
that's a xoom related problem
thanks
Sounds like something that you may want to email the dev about.
That App keeps getting updated in the Market based on fix requests from end users. Just because it can't do it today doesn't mean that it won't tomorrow...

Broken titanium backup- solved -

Update, flashed the unofficial ROM and titanium backup works again. Restored apps I could not back up through titanium backup thanks to cwm backups. Thank you all who have offered up suggestions and help
Hi, I usually try to fix my own problems but I am stumped. I have saurom v6 with holo kernel .1 and transfuzion theme on my i717, and my titanium backup constantly force closes. I've tried re installing the ROM, different kernels, wiping dalvik, wiping system, uninstalling titanium backup, using an older titanium backup and nothing seems to work. I don't know what to do. I am completely out of ideas. I've only seen one other person comment on this, and no fix for the problem. If anyone has an idea or solution I'd love some help. Thank you

did you ever back anything up from titanium backup? or break any market links?.....I would check internal and external memory for the folder in fact then delete everything in titanium just delete the whole folder and app... . reboot in recovery again clear dalvik.....and reinstall app and see what happens....this happend to me once this is how I fixed it.....make sure you delete all traces of titanium in phone....
edit...i thought your v6 was the supercharger script sorry..disregard what i said about bugs...that was for the script i thought you were talking about...but still try the upper method

There's more about this in the international forum. There's a song you can change as well.
I will try that and check that out. Thanks for the input!

I was having problems with TiBu also. I reinstalled, went back to stock and now Titanium Backup is MISSING from the market. Can anyone else confirm?
TiBu is there for me on all mobiles in the Market. One thing to look at is root on your device. without SU it will fail.
Will do. I'm going to move my titanium stuff to a comp and uninstall/wipe data. See if that does it.

I might just try a new ROM too

I've had the same issue as well and did everything you did only to restore from a backup. I did install the transfusion dialer and the transparent Google play version today. Did you do any of those today?

No, I haven't done either. This problem has been going on since I flashed saurom. At first it was only the updated titanium, then it was any titanium version. Now I have to have su prompted to always or it will crash out also. I'm going to try a different ROM since I can't get to a comp right now and just nand backup my stuff. Then if it is just this ROM I can restore my stuff

If your titanium backup isn't working and you've tried all these things, the ROM isn't playing Nice with it. Flash a different ROM. You can pull the backups from cwm with titanium

What is a good back up app besides TiBu?

I just need something that does batch back ups, and relatively fast.
rom toolbox
you can use the app manager and root browser parts, just careful with the other options, you can mess up rom and have to sbf

You can't use TiBu to backup CM7/Blur apps and restore them to CM9.
.... You will get the same results using any restore program to go from gb to ics... Has nothing to do with tibu but the fact that most apps are a bit diff on ics

So I can't restore any of my apps to CM9 in any way?
From my understanding, apps can be backed up and restored with no issues. They are just apps you will be downloading again from the Play Store anyway. Your system apps though, dont try. Use titanium backup to backup your USER apps and their data and thats it. No system data or system apps or anything else. When you get CM9 installed, they should restore with no problem.

I'm on cm9 now. I don't remember if I restored from TiBu after switching or not. But the worst that will happen is it will give you and error or it will install but not open. But I really don't think you will have problems. Just don't mess with the system settings and system apps.
If you're worried about losing something, just do a nandroid backup of your ROM before doing anything. Then if something goes wrong, restore the nandroid.
I haven't had a single error restoring apps in cm9 using TiBu. I never restore system stuff anyway but I can see where it would cause problems with the different framework.
Is everyone on CM9 for the X2 liking it so far? I was CM9 for the X but my X crapped out on me and Verizon is sending me a X2 as replacement. I understand the cam corder still isn't working but has anyone tried using LG Camera for the cam corder? It worked for me on the X with CM9.

I have used App Backup and Restore before but found that in flashing ROMs it is best to just re-install via Google or nandroid back.

A word of advice for TiBu users [JB/CM10]

A word of advice to the the people using TiBu to restore apps onto jellybean:
I've seen many people having trouble restoring with TiBu especially coming from ICS. Even when I was still using my S2 LTE.
Give Rom Toolbox Pro a try. You can easily backup your apps and data as a batch, and restoring them is a piece of cake. Never had any problems.
Although it is considered better practice to restore apps without their data, as it could potentially cause instability issues due to bad data. I've always restored the data as well and, in my experience, had no issues in particular. Even when the data was originally ICS based.
Just throwing it out there.

Isn't rom manager a collection of several apps in one? The back up interface looks identical to tibu but requires too much digging to get to.
They are both good tools but it seems like tibu is more flexible with app backups and is updated much more often.

Zero problem restoring apps from GB, ICS, or JB (upwards each time) from TiBu here, on both my Galaxy Note and Nexus 7. Why N7? I moved TiBu data from another device there and installed it from there.
All fine. Normal caveats apply.. Must reboot for services/running apps to start, must recreate accounts, anything that needs to run as a service sometimes might even need to be manually ran, etc.. None of this is ICS/JB/TiBu specific.
Just don't restore system info between roms and there should never be a problem

I've always used "My Backup Pro" since the Dell Streak, as apparently TiBu didn't play well with it. I never seem to have the problems people report with TiBu.
I always restore APK's first, reboot, then restore data to a FEW apps that I know won't be problematic...
I think you can use "My Backup Root" to try it free...

While I own both the paid version of tibu and rtp I prefer using tibu for backups. It was made to do just that and it's the best at it IMO.
TB is by far the best backup app out there. The problem is not with TB but with the user who doesn't know how to use it correctly.

Most of the problems people report are due to user error. If people would rtfm and learn they would have a much better experience.
TB for life here.....a great tool set....period.....g
