What does "overlay" folder do in device/vendor/*DEVICE directory do? How do you make one? What needs to be in it? I am building for a CM7 port.
Can anyone help?
So no one has a clue what it is?

So I wonder how many times I am going to have to bump this.
Start by finding an existing device git with a successful overlay.

I've already done that. Just copying someone elses work isn't enough. I need to know what it does and how to create one.
Anyone? Need help modifying a CM7 overlay folder to match more of my 7" device rather than the 10" device I copied it from.
Sow do you know the the answar to you're question about how to create a overlay and how it works?

Yeah, in the two years since then, I have gone far beyond this question and know how it relates the frameworks.
I've put out 4 ROMs since then.

Agreed. But my post wasn't to increase post count. You should have closed this question then or marked this as solved.

I want to start creating Roms, because me, i freaking love flashing roms, and i mean, it would be cool making some of my owns, only problem, is i dont know how to even make a rom, -_____- lmao. If anyone would want to help me it'd be awesome. I've read up on it and it seems super confusing.
*Edit totally didnt mean to post this on rom devopment -_____-
sorry.
build off of a stock deodexed rom, or a simpler custom rom. and mess with custom coloring pngs and such inside the framwork-res.apk and the htcframework
that will get you the basic idea....
then you can move onto xml's and change text colors.

no problem, its not really hard to do. the main thing is keeping things organized and not mixing up files. (cause its a pain sorting them)
if you have anymore questions feel free to ask

yo ziggy can i just use UOT kitchen, or is that a no? lol
You can but I believe the framework that you have to upload to it has to be deodexed. Do we have a deodexed rom? If not I will make one with for you all later

wouldnt the thread be more helpful to other people who might have the same question if you posted how you figured it out instead of editing your OP, saying you figured it out and asking for the thread to be closed?

Well considering the files required for their specific device. They need to download the vendor files and run an extracting script with their phone connected. I think I might just make a guide for the device I'm using.

What is the limitation of taking a mod from another devices and using it on the jewel?
I just flashed PA 2.99 and I see some really interesting things in other phone mod sections.
Is there files I should be careful not to touch due to screen resolution or device name conflicts?
Cheers!

We are not being irrational. Flap asked that all his works be closed and links pulled. He has left XDA, as has his projects. I'm sure that with some Googl-idge you can find his works.

You are not alone. It took me a while to find out too. Most members think that Thread titles once submitted cannot be changed.
I thought that too a while ago. I tested by chance and when I saw it change I said to my self "you idiot!" lol!

You can also double click the non-linked area around the thread title in the forum view. At least, you used to be able to many moons ago.
