So, in about one month, I will get my Xperia S, and I already want to know how to move everything I can from my device (Xperia X10 Mini Pro, running CM9, rooted) to Xperia S. So:
Contacts: I know I can backup using the backup to SD feature. OK
Messages: Anyway to import all my messages from ICS to Xperia S?
Apps: What is the best way to import all apps (apk itself, I think I can extract them from /data/app) and their configurations, if possible of all of them?
SD files: Just copy to PC, and then to Xperia S internal memory. OK
Any other thing I forgot to transfer?

My apps automatically install when I sign in to market

Contacts, store all to google, when you sign in on new phone they'll all be there.
Messages, there is an app on the market (sms backup and restore) which works well (creates an xml file of all your messages) but only works for sms not mms.
Apps you can set google to auto restore them, or you can go via the online market and select install to device to all the ones you want and they'll install themselves

I accidentally uninstalled something i think that was google and now I cant install apps via market.
anyone plz share their /system/app folder? (with market working)
thanks!
i might have the same problem, but i got a x10 mini pro
When i try to download something it just say "starting download" but it never starts.
So a complete app folder would be nice
edit: i fixed my phone
Maybe you just gonna do an Update via Seus, that should fix the Problem.
Then you can start over, i think in my case uninstalling the gmail.apk was the problem.
Im new to android and for me there is no connection between the market and an email app, but maybe it is because of the license management
Hi everybody.
I use paul-xxx 's MiniCM7 Pro - V20-Final and was wondering if it is possible to use the stock 2.1 calendar.
I cannot use android calendar because of the need to sign in in a Google account, as i don't have one and don't want to create one.
I liked the stock apk cause it is simple and just wanna see the date without having to sync with internet.
SEMCCalendar and other calendar associated applications are not working with MiniCM7 Pro...
Thanx in advance

normally what i do is if i want a app from older ROMS i save the apk of that app on to my SDcard and use App installer to install it (normally it works)
if that doesnt work i try copying the .apk file to where the other app is stored
e.g if i want messaging app, i copy it and paste it in system/app/Mms.apk using file managers like root explorer, astro file manager etc...
because theres where the Mms.apk is stored
to see change reboot your phone

Yes i understood what you said m8 and have done all those things before but nothing happens.
It seems like it's more complicated, it's like the stock SE calendar apks are not compatible with the rom.
As far as i'm concerned for the stock calendar to work in stock 2.1 rom are required 3 apks placed in system/apps:
-CalendarProvider.apk
-SemcCalendar.apk
-SemcCalendarVanillaApi.apk
I put them in system's apps, i change the permissions to rw-r--r-- and then reboot. The only thing is the calendar's icon that appears but if you press it error appears, meaning the app cannot be run.
The following Apk i have tested to work with ICS Arconium v7
Note: always backup your apk before replacing them in system.(just in case something goes wrong you can revert back the original apk.)
Apk for:
1.) Facebook inside xperia
2.) Social pane (timescape)
a. Feed
b. Friends
c. Share
3.) default keyboard for Xperia S
Just copy apk to system /app, change permission and reboot. Open widget then select timescape feed, friends and share.
edit : reuploaded apks as there was an error in infinite view. ok now
None of these are working for me. The keyboard crashes as soon as I hit any key and the timescape widget does not show up in the widget list.
Yes, I am using Arconium ICS v7, I set the right permissions and I rebooted the device.
I can add the widgets but when I open Timescape to configure it, it crashes. I've cleared the data, etc. but no go.
Can you make a cwm zip instead, I think it'd be easiest for ppl to install cause some ppl already messed up -__-
This even ****ed up my data-partition. Re-installing the system and deleting cache/dalvik didn't help to get the keyboard working again. I had to restore a backup.
I will reinstall my system now and do a factory reset. Then I will try this again. Maybe my data partition was corrupted in the first place.
EDIT: Keyboard works now, thanks for this. Now trying Timescape.
EDIT: Got Timescape to work. At first it looked like all is working nicely, but unfortunately there is another error: When trying to view the details of any contact of the phonebook, the phonebook-app crashes.
I am pretty sure it's not my fault this time, because I tried it with a clean install of Arconium with all user data wiped.
You have to delete two files associated with timescape in the original rom then apply the timescape file attache. Check if it works

This is my phone settings
Arconium ICS v7
Stock .562 kernel with CWM
And I just delete two files for timescape and manually copy to system / app all the files and change permission. Make sure to activate in settings/xperia (facebook inside xperia)

Xperia s home apk is not suitable for ics in that the ics based launcher can resize the widget if the widget supports it. So in order to give you the closest experience to xs home apk, I have modded ics home.apk from ics official build to implement the themes and mirror effect. Off course you can get that from my 10in1 mod.

Hi guys! This if my first post about a strange situation with account and apps.
I have 2 phones:
A galaxy Nexus and an Xperia Ray.
2 differents gmail accounts with sync and automatic backup on.
When I change rom in my nexus, at the first startup I just put my username and password and automatically all my apps are downloaded and installed.
In my Xperia I'll do the same, but I've to open Play Store, click on "installed apps" and manual install my apps one by one.
Is normal that? I'm using the same settings for backup and syncronization for the 2 phones....and this happen for every rom that I've installed in my ray.
Thanks for your help!
Valerio
On nexus devices at the setup wizard there's the option to restore them, I guess this option doesn't exist in our setup wizard
But there should be a way to download all the apps automatically

You can use Titanium Backup from play store to backup and restore your applications.
AW: [Q] Automatic installation of apps after rom change
i think it only works with jb. on any ics roms i had installed on my ray, there was a checkbox for backup and restore phone through the google account. but it worked never for apps. then i installed super jelly bean and checked this option in setup wizard and all apps where automatically downloaded.
WhatsApp for the Galaxy Players / S WiFis
NOTE: Guide might be outdated. Meanwhile, there are easier methods to install WhatsApp on Wi-Fi only devices.
[1]Intro
At first: Sorry for my bad English!
In this thread I'll show you, how you can get WhatsApp on your Samsung Media Player
[2]Required
- Samsung Media Player
- Rooted Firmware
- Internet Connection
- WhatsApp Apk from here: http ://www.whatsapp. com/android/ (Delete the empty lines, i can't post links)
- Dropbox-Account
[3]How-To
1. If you haven't downloaded the BlueStacks AppPlayer yet, download it from here http ://bluestacks .com (empty lines, again!)
2. After installing BlueStacks, you have to reboot your system
3. Start BlueStacks and click on the search button
4. Search for "WhatsApp" and install it from Google Play
5. After you installed WhatsApp, search for "Dropbox" and install it from Google Play, too
6. If Dropbox ist succesfully installed, search for "Titanium Backup" and install it from Google Play, too
7. Check if everything is install, when not you have to reboot your PC and try it again
8. Now start WhatsApp and set it up
9. Start TitaniumBackup and Dropbox and set them up, too
10. When you're finished, start Titanium Backup and make a backup (Data+APK) of WhatsApp
11. Close Titanium Backup and open Dropbox and upload the backup files (there are 3 files) from Titanium (Stored in" /TitaniumBackup")
12. If everything is uploaded, you can close BlueStacks
13. Unlock your Galaxy Player/ S WiFi and install TitaniumBackup (Google Play), Dropbox (Google Play) and WhatsApp (Internet)
14. If everything is installed, you have to set up Titanium and Dropbox but not WhatsApp
15. Open Dropbox and export the 3 backup files to "/sd-card/TitaniumBackup"
16. Now open Titanium and go to the tab "Backup/Restore"
17. Restore the files from WhatsApp
[18. If Titanium says: "No Backup of WhatsApp", you have to reset Titanium Backup (Settings>Applications>Installed>Titanium Backup> Clear data) and restart by step 16]
19. Open WhatsApp and Enjoy!

Thanks man I thought about doing this in a similar way, using a low-end Android and backup from there but the root on that phone stopped working after the binary update, and I can't find the stock rom to revert it lol (su.bin and su.apk are still there but with 0 bytes) so I never did it. Anyway thanks!
I Just want to add something, when you restore the backup. In case, the device asks you to install whatsapp (while restoring files), you should install but do not open it and let Titanium restore all files.
Edited my mistake

You're welcome! You can find the stock rom for your device here: http ://forum.xda-developers.com /showthread.php?t=1884071 (Delete the spaces, i can't post links yet). Thanks for the tipp with the installer, I'll update that soon.
I meant my crappy phone's (a huawei ascend y100) root is damaged not my player, my player is running smooth after some tweaks that I did. But thanks anyway . Worked perfectly on my SGP4.2
Btw it should work on whatsapp plus but you'll have do a backup from a phone and not BlueStacks (I think).
