Did your check your APN settings? If so, is one of them selected as active?

solved it
OK
I added telstra settings manually . Nothing worked. Started playing with it again.
Added a new data widget. Checked data was enabled in settings. Checked APN settings , telstra apn wasnt selected so I selected that. Accidentally pressed reset to default settings .... reset back to two apns - telsta internet and telstra mms settings. Packet data started working !!
I have no idea why this fixed it. Resetting back to default after changing the apn seemed to spark it into action.

If it wasn't selected, then it wasn't active. Once you reset, it probably auto selected one.

[Q] New APN settings don't save on S2 and no internet calling on the UK 3 network ?

Hello
I have the S2 Galaxy with ICS 4.0.3 - carphone warehouse version , it was originally locked to UK Orange.
On Orange it always allowed phone calls to be made whilst the phone internet data was also turned on. (H+ in the top right corner)
Now that I've had the phone unlocked and am using a UK 3 sim card, I've had problems with the phone use.
1) If the internet data is turned on and I'm not browsing and I try to make a phone call - I get the message - 'No internet calls allowed' ??
2) On trying to access the phones data internet I now keep getting a web message from 3 - 'Your trying to use your phone as a modem or in a hotspot' ??
I've toggled between the data packet selection and the data roaming selection buttons in the wireless and network settings area.
Phoned 3 a few times, been through all the checks in the settings area.
Tethering off
Wifi off
Anything that shouldn't be checked isn't!
Anyway I've been directed to the APN settings and there is nothing there - everything is UNSET !
I've read the threads here and used the 3 APN settings and my phone will not save what I type in?
3 went through the set up and to finalise I pressed save - only for it not to save - the APN page is still blank.
Any ideas on what the problem could be ?
Thanks

Flash a Custom ROM like CyanogenMod or flash a Retail ROM. Look here on XDA and catch one. It will work for sure!
I already flashed a retail ROM onto the phone - UK Carphone warehouse ICS 4.0.3
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=1
Solved !!
Problem solved..
I reflashed a non wipe ICS 4.0.3 over what was already on the phone.
I had taken a few back up rom images via CWM and used one of them to restore the DATA program apps!
The APN is there now and reads like this should anyone else need the info to sort theirs out.

HTC Hero running Elelinux-7.2-Hero-v3.9 Android 2.3.7

Hi all first post here not first visit though
I tried to post on the forum for this ROM but apparently i need to post 10 times in the general sections first.
Everything works perfect, smooth as hell, only problem I'm having is with MMS.
When i go to send an MMS it just says "sending" but never sends and stays in the same state.
Any help with this would be appreciated, I Have tried deleting and adding the APN/MMS settings still no avail.
I cannot find anything in the settings to select the MMS set (i know in android 2.1 update 1 there was a setting in message settings to select the MMS set of settings.

Hi,
I don't have that ROM, but mine have the same Android version and I just experienced the same problem.
To work, you need to have 3G enabled and data enabled. If you don't want Internet access on 3G, you need to misconfigure the Internet APN before enable the data.
Also, I use only 2G to save battery. After enabled 3G, I needed to reboot the phone to the radio correctly identify the 3G network and connect.

I had the same problem not only with whatsapp but also with viber etc. I fixed it by creatin my APN settings manually.
Settings/Mobile Network/Connection Settings than tap home buttons left key / New APN
you can ask APN settings to your cell provider.
Usually it's not the cause of Whatsapp but your provider blocking it.
Many (if not most) providers are either incapable or unwilling to use transparent packet inspection (not necessarely Layer-7) and rely on the phone to have a Proxy server configured in the APN.
Interestingly exactly this proxy is usually not even given in the configuration details.
Some providers (such as mine) even attempt to do their bandwith throttling via the proxy. I don't complain since I don't use it =)
But other applications are ok with this default configuration. And Whatsapp in my HTC phone worked ok on 3G data with default settings...
later edit - found the solution 4 the problem, when flashed the new omega rom, it put all the APN profiles my provider has, including some ****ty MMS and WAP APNs. After I deleted those and left only the Internet APN, things got back in normal.

Whatsapp application problem
Hi all,
I am using samsung galaxy s duos.I am unable to send messages through whatsapp when I am using aircel network, other networks it is working fine.Is that the problem with aircel n/w or whatsapp application. If any suggestions pls give me replies......http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Also had a problem with WhatsApp messages not being delivered when on 3G but they would on Wifi. I thought it was something to do with droidwall but the resetting off APN settings makes sense.
I shall try that and hopefully it works.
Okay resetting the APN's did not work.
I am running Omega Rom and Jkay but this happened when I ran stock as well.
On 3G messages will sometimes come through immediately, sometimes not. They will always come through on Wifi. They will also come through if I open Whatsapp. Not sure if it is ISP related but when I had a Nokia on same ISP I never had this problem.
Does anyone know if something in Droidwall would be blocking this?
Thanks!
I was having problems since yesterday with my phone. Even not having the S3, one quick look here and found the solution. Thanks.

[Q] Unable to connect to mobile network

So I used my phone this morning and all was fine and dandy, a couple of hours later and the phone could not connect to the mobile network. I triedsaving my network's APN settings that iI got from their website, but it would not save, I tried to save the settings using this trick where I rebootthen save the settings or sth like that to no avail. I tried dialling *#*#4636#*#* and changing the network type to cdma , but the setting would change for a split sec then return to unknown. After scouring on the threads for some time I thought i'd flash Cyanogenmod, still no network. Somebody please help me here I have tried everything I have seen on the threads. I was using vanilla root box 4.2 when this happened, along with the stock kernel. Wi-Fi works fine BTW. I also tried resetting APN settings to default, but I end up with the same empty screen with no APN settings whatsoever. I never touched these settings before this unfortunate event. Maybe if I flash a modem or radio(I hear one of those is responsible for connecting to the mobile network).
Modem and radio are the same thing, flashing the right one for your country won't help the apn issue. Flashing a stock 4.1.2 rom and factory reset to test if it's hardware or software problem. First check with your network that data is working in your area.

S9+ US Unlocked, FULL Network Reset?

So, when I first put my SIM in, my phone restarted and I got some texts informing me of settings in a configuration menu to install, and when I did almost everything worked perfectly fine. Upon one of the things acting strange, i reset my networking settings and input the specified APN settings for my carrier (Ting), but then MMS wont work and when I get calls it goes straight to voicemail. By default under "Access Points", it has a "Ting Data" option which can't be changed, but has incorrect APN settings according to the ting website, so I make a second one and select it instead.
Anyhow, I want the original configuration install options to reappear like when I first installed my sim but I cannot find anything about them or find any configuration menu. They did add new APN settings in there when I did it and MMS did work at the time and I did get calls. I've already removed my sim, and placed it back in with no luck, restarted phone, soft reset phone, reset Access Points to default, and reset network settings via the Reset menu, and no luck.
Is there a dial code I can enter to find this APN install menu? or get it to do a full network reset as if I put my SIM in for the first time WITHOUT a full factory reset.
Edit: Got it working somewhat. It says I have LTE connection, but only wants to work on and off. Any ideas of how to fix this?
