No swype, using Cm9!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I'm really missing the original "swype" I've down loaded many apps from the market similar but nothing like the original. Any ideas, how do I get it?
Coming from GS2 running CM9

Not sure if it's compatible with ICS but try http://www.swype.com/category/get-swype/ that's what i did after installing CM7

Check out SwiftKey X from play... I can't link it cuz I'm nub status here.
Don't miss Swype at all. It goes on sale for 99cents once in a while

Seriously?? Did you even try?
http://beta.swype.com

Swype will run on CM9; but like romuloxiii said, just go to the swype website, sign up for the beta, and download it

I've tried downloading the beta. And I can't seem to get it to work. I've followed the steps to install but it says password and username is incorrect, and says account not active. I'm not a noob and I can't seem. To be able to get past the login. I downloaded "swiftkey x" but I thought it was like swype. I will never text regular again. I absolutely hate texting. With 2 hands. I can swype so much faster than tapping, and one handed using my thumb. I've tried all the apps and none of the are as good or have stupid things that just make no sense. Any other ideas with swype beta? I thought maybe I'm on a custom romantic that it won't work.

Ok, I finally got Swype to work and I'm very happy now! Nothing is as perfect as the original Swype.

Sounds like you didn't use swype beta. How did you get the original?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA

I did finally get the beta to work. Works just the same as the original that came with the phone. It's a Lil different, ex. The color of the trail. But I'm glad to have Swype back again

Swype sucks anyway. It would always punctuate and make me look like a retard when I texted. I prefer go keyboard. Their "swipe" feature works just fine for me

Swype help

Hi I just downloaded swype beta and its turned on but the keyboard doesn't change. The same thing happened when I tried swift keyboard. I check it but its the stock keyboard. I am on bamf beta 6. Anyone have any ideas.

Hold on the text input box and choose input method and choose swype.
I'm sorry, but I don't see that button on my keyboard.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Long press the text input area. You'll see a dialog pop up with keyboard choices.
Synergy and Dream Kernel
Thanks I finally got it figured out. I had to go to the swype installer app and change a setting there.

Now be aware, unless with Swype Beta 3.0 they fixed it, that when you reboot your phone, Swype will stop working.
What you'll have to do is long press inside a text box, and switch your input mode back to the stock keyboard. Long press again, and switch it back to Swype. You'll be good to go! I guess I haven't rebooted since 3.0 installed yesterday... maybe they fixed this bug?!
I just rebooted and swype was still there so that's a good thing

But did it work just fine? I've always had to switch to the stock keyboard, then back to swype after a reboot, otherwise the actual swype motions wouldn't create words.

Yes, the new Swype 3.0 works for our phone and does not have the problems that the old one had when it would reboot that you would have to select another input type then Swype again. That was a big headache to deal with every time you wanted to enter a new message.
Yeap like picao said it worked without a hitch.

I'm using Swype 1.6 and am not having any issues with it, use it with the default mail app, and it's there after rebooting. Is this only a 3.0 "feature"?
Awesome. i'm going to reboot right now just to check!
so im on bamf 1.6.3 and the stock messaging app wont auto space between words for swype. it does on handcent but i dont like using it. has anyone found a fix for this? and i heard it was fixed on gingerbread is that true?
The beta skips spaces and I haven't had any issues with it yet. But the double space doesn't put a period.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I'm glad they fixed this with the new 3.0 beta, what a pain in the ass that was after every reboot.
I run ARHD on Desire HD. In all previous Swype versions up to now, swyping almost never worked until I manually re-initialised its listener.
The current version hasn't displayed this problem at all, which had finally made the program quite usable. The word chooser is still proving to be a bit of a problem due to silly default choices, I'm having to correct it far too often. And editing words that aren't in the dictionary is exceptionally tricky due to the way the cursor keeps jumping around in edit mode, though that may be just as much the fault of Android Gingerbread or HTC Sense, for all I know.

I had the same issue when i initially got my TB (before rooting/ROM). I found in these forums a link to the EVO swype apk that you can use on the TB to fix the auto-space issue with SMS/MMS.
I'm back to using the 3.0 beta version of swype and I'm having the same auto-space issue you describe. I like the 3.0 updates too much to go back to the old EVO version, but maybe the EVO 3.0 apk would give the same fix as the old version.

Swype freezing

Is anyone else swype freezing? It still works but some times the keyboard freezes to ask capital letters and the tracer wont show. I have to change keyboards then switch back for it to work properly.

Any time I restart my phone I have to change keyboards in order for Swype to work properly. This is a known issue, so hopefully someone is working on it for the next update.
I had the same issue until I installed the swype 3.0 beta. Look in the dev section for the post. . .I have too few posts to post

Correct Swype beta phone app for ICS!

This will only work if you are a registered Swype beta user... Simply uninstall the tablet Swype app on your phone, then sideload this, reboot, and voila!

can you post a screenshot? i've downloaded swype beta from their website after flashing ICS and the keyboard is REALLY small. so i ended up going with the stock keyboard for now.
Sure thing!

Works perfectly!
Pulled the beta from their site and keyboard was too small
Found this, and indeed, voila!!
Thanks much!
I suppose this is better for using your fingers, but have any of you tried the smaller keyed tablet version using your SPen? Hands down my favorite text entry method; so fast and accurate.
Absolutely fantastic find!

Is there any way of installing English UK language pack, as it's not downloadable through the app itself?
When on landscape the keyboard shows up an error stating it does not fit the resolution.

worked for me on ICS (team Perfection ROM).
I had to make sure to uninstall the existing one first before I was able to get it to work. It is a big improvement over the one that swype installed directly because the keys are properly sized.
Anybody have the file and can share? None of the links are working. I'm just getting 404 errors. TIA

I love the tablet version. Its counter-intuitive, but I find it a lot more accurate when swiping.
agreed!!!

Favorite Keyboard?

Just wondering what the MoPho's and Mo'lec's (?) are using for a keyboard.
I got Thumb Keyboard on Amazon's FAD promotion, and I was using it, but it's a little too liberal with its space bar, Delete/L, and Shift/A, and its word prediction doesn't take this into account. Say you want to type "Facebook", it comes up "afacebook" because it registers Shift as A, and "Facebook" isn't a word suggestion. And you can be tapping a bunch of Deletes, and all of a sudden it starts inserting L's. Or spaces for N's. Not sure what to do about that.
I gave Swype another chance, and I like it, but the options are kinda sparse. I tried to install the Swype beta, and it said it was not available for devices with Swype preinstalled. Figured I could fix that, went into Titanium, backed it up, and deleted it... Swype Beta then downloaded the latest Swype. It looks better, not sure if they improved it.
It seems like there are some things Swype doesn't like to do. The long-press delay for symbols is too long, and brand names are tricky. It let me Swype AirDroid, maybe because that app is installed and it pulls from that, or it's just common enough to be in Swype's dictionary. I don't know.
I never liked the swype gimmick, but I'm giving it another chance. I find that it's great for generic messages, stuff that's in the dictionary. It's when you get to stuff it doesn't know that you spend just as much effort as tapping.
So... what are you guys using, and why do you prefer it?
I was using perfect keyboard but I had the same problem with L and delete. Also when I hit the space bar a lot of times it'd take me to the home screen. That gets old quick when you've got a whole text written out and lose it. So don't use perfect keyboard.
I've tried a few other keyboards but right now I'm using the keyboard that comes with CNA and I'm good with it. Flash CNA and give it and the keyboard a try or ask someone what keyboard it is. I will not use swype again. I even tried a hybrid swype/normal and it still sucked.
Swift Key is pretty good when it comes to prediction...currently using swype though...haven't found one I'm completely happy with.
I like flex T9 got it as faotd a while back seems to for me better than swype.

Flex T9 was my keyboard of choice on my last phone, but I ditched it for Thumb Keyboard. Might have to revisit it. Also got it free on Amazon.
Never had luck with SwiftKeyX.

The new beta key layout kinda sucks cause I don't like how the ? mark key got replaced
I think different keyboards work for different hands. so a bit of experimentation does wonders.

Experimentation is the best way to learn what works for you, but you hit the nail on the head there. Hands, and personalities perhaps. The precise, the sloppy, and everything in between.

SwiftKey 3 beta. Previously using the Swype beta (shame the included Swype version is an older one). Smart Keyboard Pro was my go-to before that.
Sent from my Motorola Electrify
I can't find anything I like more than Smart Keyboard Pro. I install the English dictionary, turn the long press delay way down, increase key height, turn off haptic feedback, switch it to the HTC skin, and turn off dynamic key resizing. The only issue I have has been in every ICS based rom, the keyboard will freeze periodically and I'll just have to hit back and select the text box again to resume typing. It hasn't been enough of an annoyance yo make me switch.

Flex T9 on Photon and Thumb Keyboard on tablet.
Keyboards are a big thing for me, at any given time I have around 6-8 different keyboards installed.
Just for grins I installed the new Swype beta and it is a huge jump over what comes stock on the phone. I just wish it was easier to update.
I'm also trying out the new Swiftkey 3 beta and it's looking pretty good so far. Not much to say yet as this keyboard is really suppose to shine as you use it more so I've committed to using it over the next couple of weeks.
Better Keyboard 8
I got it before it got pulled from the market because of the idiot dev
I'm not one for predictive keyboards, but it has really wide keys
I've been using swiftkey x since I got it as the faotd on Amazon app store.

Yup, and its been a joy to use. Very smooth and quick.
i didnt like i thought the new swype beta was better
I've tried it and as far as the Flow goes, it's different. The guessing for words is good while on one continuous swipe but still prefer Swype Beta over it, plus it learns your words and patterns. Not sure if Flow does the same
Doesnt work in a lot of places (if prediction doesnt work, flow wont work). Punctuation forces you to stop your flow. I dunno..
It seems pretty good.

I tried it for a couple days went back to Swype beta...I like flow but it doesn't predict like Swype does...and simple words like PARTY won't come up for me using flow. Might go back to it after done updates
