Figured CDMA would land before GSM. Oh well, I've sorta kinda moved on anyway, but it'll be nice to see what goodies the upgrade brings.

Their source has promised them that it's not fake. Question is, who is the source and how reliable are they?
Furthermore, cdexsw from droidhive.com said that Best Buy has confirmed the update as well.
Why is CDMA before GSM? WHY?

The Razr was the Verison flagship device and they put a lot of effort into selling them. GSM carriers have way more phones that they sell and i doubt they sold as good as the CDMA version so they are making the CDMA version first
Motorola is sending emails to RAZR and Maxx owners to participate in soak tests.

I ask myself that everytime I see a GSM phone updated before a CDMA. Doesn't make since America is the center of the universe

Funny, I figured CDMA would land before GSM simply because the CDMA RAZR is a single-carrier flagship device, but there was all that hoo-ha a while back when Moto's update page said 'Planning and development'..

I hope its released the 4th. I hate not having ICS on my phone. The ROMs are ok but they will be awesome when we get moto drivers!
Excuse my possible ignorance, but if one of us gets in the soak test can't we use a system dump and compile it as a ROM?

The guy I know at Verizon was right!
Eat all you troll's. Oh yea, I was right and they called BS. Who is full of it now.
Any way: I should get my refurb by the 4th. I will be updating my threads, then I get my "new" one.

So I'm hoping when the verizon atrix hits soon we'll be getting more dev support. What do you guys think?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
i really don't think their will be because of the bionic but hopefully they are similar enough so that we can cross-develop if thats the right word
Right but if the bionic has a similar boot loader it could help, but they are supposed to be getting a verizon atrix.I figure since there are more devs on verizon phones we might get a big push.

Hate to tell you this, but that is not entirely true as I just manually checked yesterday. So that's not the case.

I think the point is that this update has been rolling out for a while now (over a week) for many other users (I received it the day I received my phone last Friday).
A friend got me a sweet deal, I'll give him my EVO + $250 for a RAZR
Do you guys think I should go for it?

Moneywise, it's a good deal. Just make sure you're OK with a significantly smaller development community.
***UPDATE 6/26/2012***
Ok, not all the info that I got before was 100% correct. It looks like RAZR / MAXX is unlocked only for Global(GSM) use which is outside of USA. The Tmobile and ATT sims are not fully working as of right now.
We have couple amazing Devs which are working to resolve this issue.
Please PM me if you want me to update the OP.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the Bionic forum people found a way to activate disabled feature of couple 4g verizon phones to be able to use it on GSM networks.
Can someone test it please?

Amazing...no one here has any interest in this? maybe you should have posted in the development section. This is great news if it gets working on the razr.
I posted this earlier...as far as I know it's still a work in progress but very cool nonetheless.

Welp the Bionic can't do it for sure. Doesn't have a GSM radio... at all.

Running ICS leak fully rooted!
Actually the Bionic does have a GSM radio.
The Razr, 4, Bionic all have the same Qualcomm global radio and a separate LTE radio.
The only thing preventing the Razr, Droid 4 or Bionic from connecting to GSM is the firmware.
The Droid 4 is scheduled for GSM upgrade.

I stand corrected. Well played.

I was under the impression that we just needed the unlock code. Once we have it from say...att, then we put the sim in,enter the code and good to go...maybe its not that easy but on YouTube it looks pretty close lol.
As far as I know it's not that easy due to the fact that the GSM modem itself is disabled. Unless your talking about roaming onto the LTE network. Though ATT uses different frequencies.

I was really surprised that people did not accept this news well. I was extremely happy to hear that we can use our phones with GSM providers since I am planing to travel soon.

Yeah. No thought about lte if I had to use GSM. I feel dumb as that's the entire point of the maxx being called a global phone lol. There's a video and it is really easy to do.

Thank you I will follow it later on.
this could get interesting
Okay so, here's my predicament..I'm currently using an Atrix 2 with a regular sized SIM card and wanted to test this out on a busted VZW Razr I got from work (there's a huge crack in the screen and it was just collecting dust). If I went into an AT&T store and bought a micro-SIM, would it work?
The only reason I'm confused is because all I know that AT&T uses the micro-SIMs for is the iPad; I don't know if the structure of the SIM card changes to accomodate just data, or if voice will be able to be transmitted as well.
Some memos have been leaking. But it looks like a formal announcement is imminent. Razr's on the list, too.
This'll probably break the wire right when the mythical ICS OTA hits, LOL.

Yes, I'm sure the corporate behemoth that is Verizon figured out our devs had cracked GSM on Tuesday, and prepped advertising material for it by Friday.
I love how everyone forgets that Joel told us it was a framework issue not a radio issue, this new MiUI Rom uses the sensations framework which is a gsm phone so I would believe that's why it's works
