hopefully it's true
sent from my ICS flavored HTC Vigorous Vigor. If I helped please use the "thanks" option!
if this is true, it would be awesome, but i hope to get a way to ruu to get this update from leaked ruu?
sigh I just got my rez back from repair and was 5 minutes from flashing the leaked ics until I read this.
Well if it is true then we might see a leaked final a few days earlier if we are lucky.
I've been holding out on flashing the RUU, maybe a good thing.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
I have not flashed the leaked RUU yet either. I learned my lesson with leaked software about 2 years ago when a leak for Eclair came out for Eris.. We all flashed it and then we were all stuck there for like 6 months, until someone figured out an exploit that allowed us to finally move on to the official update.

Not that I advocate going with the leak at this point (assuming this post is accurate), but I can't imagine HTC would release an OTA with a lower version than the leaks.
I'm a pretty firm believer that the leaks are really just betas, and we are their testers. They get a plethora of bug reports, free development, and make their most finicky customers happier with their products through 'leaking' us the goods!
I certainly hope so anyway. But if not, I'm very happy with the current state of the Rezound.
I hope the leak we just got wasnt the final. Needs more work IMO..then again we got devs to fix htcs screw ups. Will be nice to have source for kernels.

I don't know. That is just another site showing the same thing. I wouldn't hold my breath until an announcement from Vzw is released.
Only thing lacking, IMO, is how buggy the clock speed jumping around is; which should be kernel-related.

I just didn't flash the ruu because I am more than happy with ineffabalis 1.3 but bamf 1.0 ran like butter on my rezound so I am hoping with all the good reports of the update that this is true.
That and I'd like to see chingy work on a ics version of gb ineffabalis.

Its a "feature" from HTC called perflock. I do agree, though, that its pretty annoying.

my upgrade wasn't due until 2013 but they gave it to me anyway. had an issue with my thunderbolt, no insurance, no warrenty coverage.. called asking if they could do anything for me.. they then offered me an upgrade.
also, I saw another post of someone also wanting a premature upgrade & mentioning cancelling his contract & re-signing... and was then offered an upgrade to.
if all else fails, maybe one of these chaps could report theirs lost/stolen, get a new one & then give you the lost/stolen with the bad esn you could 'fix'. of course everyone knows that's a no no. shame!
I got my early upgrade by saying I have a new job that requires 4g and if they couldn't do anything if have to switch. They even gave me a discount on the rezound!

Once I get mine if I can spare some change ill try my hardest to get a donation to you. I am looking forward to your work. I am glad to see that there is developer interest for this phone. The phone I currently have, the BravoC, pretty much had zero development besides CM7 and a couple of sense 2.0 froyo roms. (One I ported myself). I am hoping to try to develop for this phone too. There wasn't even a kernel source (for froyo) released for my BravoC so eventually I was using the eclair sense kernel to boot froyo in order to get an overclock.
I don't want to go through that stuff again so that is why I am getting a phone that more than 7 people on earth have.
nils will be here. he has to be. haha

DesignGears is the guy behind several roms that were based on stock, going as far back as Cognition for the Captivate.
He is also, I believe the person who posted the stock recovery images for the Samsung Captivate and came up with the mechanism for recovering the Captivate to stock.
I ran his rom (Cognition) on my Samsung Captivate for at least a year, updating as he released new versions until he stopped development on Froyo and jumped to Gingerbread, around this time, Cyanogen began development and I used Cyanogen instead of Cognition because they supported the Froyo bootloaders, his rom did not after he went to Gingerbread (it required updating the bootloaders).
I even remember a short dialog where I pushed to use the Pacman script from Cyanogen in order to both make his rom download smaller but also so that users had more of a choice as to what apps they wanted on their phone.
DesignGears (DG for short) is one of the key developers that got the Captivate rom development off the ground. While Im sure someone else would have gotten around to it, he is the guy who kicked it off and figured it all out. Dont dis' the guy, if he has a Note and begins development, my hope is that we will start to see more development for the Note. At only three custom roms, all heavily based on stock, we have yet to really see this phone at its full potential.

Apple may be better at rolling out new os but I have very little experience with them. I can only go by what I hear. That being said I still won't be buying any apple products. Between my evo 3d, toshiba thrive, desktop pc and my chromebook i'm very happy. I can do so many things apple users only dream about. Yes apple can do some things I can't, not anything i'm really interested in though.
With Apple your forced to wait to get something till they decide you can have it. I like flashing roms and the custom things we can do. I would like to see google make a standard dock for all the different device makers to put into there devices.

This may be a noob question, and I am sorry for it, but say the Thunderbolt does get the ICS update...
Am I going to have to unroot my phone and install the OTA to get it and then wait for another rooting method, or can I keep my current root and just wait for a ROM build from ICS?
Or am I just being retarded?
Because ICS is Opensource the source code would have to be released by HTC to run on this phone. I would say that there would be a market of modded roms to choose from.
Tbh it feels like HTC is afraid to release ICS knowing that their source code would have to be released. I think they probably see that as a loss of control over this product. From what I've seen there aren't many differences between their phones besides software and open source is a nightmare for companies like that. Why would we upgrade phones when we could use this rom with that phone's features. An example is the source wasn't even out for the Galaxy S III and someone already posted S-Voice to the Nexus S 4G. See what I mean. This is why I'm skeptical about them releasing ICS for these phones.

Either way will work.
Here's my opinion FWIW, I don't want the OTA update when it comes because VZW has already stated it will have Sense 3.x so it'll look and feel much like your current software. I'll wait until the devs have created ICS ROMS with Sense 4.x and try one or more of them.
NOTE: none of the above means your not being retarded, ask your wife for that information! <G>

They're probably already testing it right now if HTC is saying it'll roll out by the end of next month

Meh, I would say HTC is still putting on final touches and then will release it to VZW in september, after VZW makes their changes then we will get it... I hope this is not the case but I guess time will tell...
I wish the manufacturers would let us beta test the future updates like Apple has done with iOS7. Then we could get everything months befor, and with no VZW bloat

This is true.. When I had an iPhone (for a short period of time) I beta tested iOS.. I can't remember which version it was.. But what I think helps that is the agreement between Verizon and Apple probably says Verizon will have no say in the OS... I could be wrong.. But it makes sense .. In my head. LoL

I know. That's one of the only things iOS has over android. No carrier modification. The carrier absolutely F's up what could have been a pretty decent stock ROM. But thankfully, we have people like Newt, Hawk, Torrented, and Pio to swoop in and save the day

Doesn't ring a bell, never heard of them :silly:
This means more perfected CM 4.3 correct? It would be pointless to RUU back to stock to get 4.3 correct?

Why a lot of people may agree with you.(myself being one of those that does) Some people prefer the look and feel of a stock debloated ROM.

Looking forward to 4.3 and sense 5. Just means more perfected sense 5 roms nom nom nom
I will get excited when Verizon confirms it. Until then it is a pure rumor.

No real need as I'm sure 4.3 leaks will be out far before.

yay
I absolutely can't wait for 4.3. Two features I'm most excited for: lockscreen widgets (4.2, but hey, I'm still on 4.1.1 ) and setting permissions for each app individually! There are tons of free apps that I don't download because of the permissions they want. Why does angry birds need to know my fine GPS location? (answer: ads)
