I am running a custom Rom from the android development section. It came with Google music beta. Now I am trying to update it to Google play music and it says I need to uninstall my previous one. I can't uninstall it. I tried super manager and that didn't work. Any way to do it from terminal? Thanks

Keep in mind there is no difference between google music and google play music.
Just different icons.
Also when are they going to fix this damn app for our phones?
Got it uninstalled titanium. I had no idea I could do that. And the reason I wanted to uodate was so the update icon from the play store would stop showing up. Thanks guys.
And I hope they update it soon. I hate tablet mode.

Stock 16gb here.
I got it installed
I now have two market apps installed. It did not override the tablet market. Also, I don't have access to the movies section.
I tried it and uninstalled it within a minute or so. Obviously not optimized for tablets. will wait for official release.
Agree...looks good on the cell. Not so much on tablet. But it is working..

yea I have a feeling this is the same apk for both the mobile and tablet because it works better on my TB than my GT 10.1
even then, it is alot slower compared to the previous market so idk if this is worth it just yet
Damn...i broke my market. I uninstalled the new one...old one seemed to work until i try to install an app or load my apps. Then i get a com.Google.android.finsky force close. Ideas anyone?
Edit: a data wipe and restart fixed the issue.

yes data are not the same so have to clear it before installing the new one or after uninstalling it.
finsky is FC for me
I screwed up my market by installing then uninstalling this and wiping market data in settings and a reboot didn't fix the issue.
Market runs but when I click on the "My Apps" in the upper right I get a FC.
Can anyone send me the market vending files I need to push to my Tab's system/app folder to help me fix?
(and yes I know I am an idiot by not doing a Titanium Backup of Market before installing the new one).

See post #7 - Should do the trick.
Thanks for trying this out and reporting back, guys. I installed it on my Nexus S without issue but decided not to pull the trigger on my tab.
Looks great on MT4G. I will wait to install on my GT10.1
I haven't seen a list of bloatware / AT&T apps that are safe to remove. So I thought I will ask:
- Which apps that you know are NOT SAFE to remove?
- I keep seeing in the task bar a double-arrow icon, indicating that an AT&T app is checking for software update. As a matter of fact, I did receive a message from it about a new software update. Which .apk I need to disable for this?
Again, this is only for the bloatware.
I deleted everything that had at&t in front of it. At&t messaging, my at&t, at&t navigation and the at&t update services thats the blue and red arrows you are seeing. I did this through task manager.

Thanks for the info. No problem so far with freezing these AT&T apps, including AT&T Update Services?
BTW, when you said "delete", did you mean "freezing it with Titanium Backup" or you actually REMOVE the .apk?
I froze the above apps using TB, but it is still shown in Google Play as being installed and needing update.
You can search XDA for "apps safe to remove". The SGS-II forums have a spreadsheet that works for the note.

With Google Play, the feature to DETACH from Market no longer works. So even if the app is frozen, it is still shown in Google Play, especially if there is an update.
This applies to ALL bloatware. After a while, you'll see tons of these in your Google Play list and you no longer can select
"Update All".
Can we SAFELY move the .Apk from /system/apps?
I deleted them. I froze them first and then deleted ecerything with at&t on it through task manager.

I delete a majority of the bloatware, especially if I know I will never use it.
How did you DELETE these built-in apps?
There is NO uninstall feature, even when accessing it from System --> Applications --> Manage Applications.

If you have root on your phone, many third party apps will allow you to delete them. A popular one around here is Titanium Backup. I highly suggest installing this and purchasing the key (although the free version will work just as well). Its a staple in apps to install for rooted phones.
I deleted them through task manager. I used the uninstall feature. Try it.

I use titanium backup to uninstall what I don't want, you have to be rooted though.

Can I delete Social Hub without any problems?

I havent tried the social hub not sure I would since its samsung software.

I have removed Social Hub without issue
Sent from my G-Note Beast.......
same here, social hub deleted and no problems........and of course all the AT&T crap since I'm with TMobile
Just a helpfull hint for safety.
Personaly I would use titanium backup (in batch) to freeze apps you may want to uninstall.. leave them frozen for a few days to ensure there are no problems.. if once your sure there are no problems you can uninstall them (delete).. Uninstall can be done most of the time though the task manager .. but if that does not work titanium backup will most defently do it..
As someone else pointed out.. I did a search for i717 app safe to remove and got this nice spread sheet..

How can I delete YouTube?
Hi
Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I don't think this is an issue specific to my phone model.
I have this really annoying issue. When I go into the Android Market (or Play Store) and I look at my apps it previously showed purchased apps but now it shows all the apps I've ever installed. If I want to install an app I purchased previously I have to search through all the hundreds of apps I have ever installed!
I've tried to find a resolution via Google but I keep getting results showing how to clear market search history.
Does anyone know what I'm referring to and know how to fix this? Like I said, previously before I upgraded to ICS the market only showed installed apps and purchased apps that I haven't installed, now it shows every app I have ever installed and it seems to include apps I installed on my android tablet!
Thanks
Lee

Welcome to the new play store. This is intentional and functions the same as the iOS app store.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Its an annoying idea. We should at least have the option to turn it off. If I try an app and don't like it I uninstall it, why would I want to constantly see an app that I don't want! Haha.
I like Android because, among other things, it isn't iOS.
Thanks
Lee

Hello XDA,
I have a rooted HTC Amaze with s-off. I am able to remove all other system apps from my phone (Google Talk, Friend stream, etc.) except for Google Play Movies. I cannot find its location on my phones root. I have checked /system/app/ and it is not there.
I running ICS Android Revolution 3.
Thank you!

Hey nerot,
Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately it didn't work. When I went into Titanium Backup and try to uninstall Google Play Movies, it tells me that it cannot find the apk.
The sad thing is that the app remains on my phone and it STILL WORKS!
If anyone else has a suggestion, anything, please tell me.
I love you XDA,
Robert

Okay I located the 2nd location of Google Play Movies in the /data/app/ folder and removed it from there, but now the icon still remains on the app launcher.
How can I remove the app from the app launcher? (Google play movies doesn't start anymore )

Restarting my phone solved it!
Thanks.

ya great, but what is it called? I'm not rooting my girl's s9 but I'm adb removing all the crap and I can't find google play movies & bs. I've found com.google.android.gms and think it must be a part of that. It seems like a fun package of Google bloatware that installs all as one for them and as some serious type of system file, because I could uninstall all of KNOX this way, but not com.google.android.gms Any thoughts from anyone? BTW I'm running a galaxy s9 (S960U from AT&T)

WOA I don't know at what point this happened until now, but deleting everything I didn't like the looks of, I enabled this unrooted S9 AT&T to uninstall bloatware from settings. The uninstall option became available instead of disable. I must have passed out and am dreaming because even on root I never got this awesomeness.
Hi,
I am running Viper Amaze rom on my Ruby and would like to know whether it is possible to uninstall all google apps which came with it. Most are removable but I realized that some do not allow me to uninstall them. I use other apps so they are just wasting space. Is there any way to un-flash(?) them all? Thanks.
You could probably try titanium backup or Root App Delete although i haven't tried Root App Delete. on a side note though, what apps do you use in place of the Google ones ?
I will try titanium, thanks. I use dolphin for internet, mx for video and Sense apps for everything else. The few games I have are from humble bundle
