Is there any way I can get the stock blur camera back on CM7? Or the droid 3 camera? I am running CM7 and I really hate the stock camera.
And I know that there are alternatives in the market, but none of them have video recording, so I am not looking for alternatives.

I don't think you can get stock camera on cm7 because of the blur files/libraries. I think that's why.

Well is there any way to replace the camera?

That's a developer question. I personally think you can't. Unless there's way to rewrite the camera files/libraries.

Did you try camera360? Also, there are other camera apps on the market, which you may like better than stock.
stock camera
I've tried about half a dozen add on camera apps since moving to the neutrino ROM, and not a single one of them focuses accurately (including the one that comes with the Neutrino ROM. Every single picture is blurred to at least a small degree.
Are the binaries for the atrix stock camera even available? I'd like to try and get it working, if the end result is a properly functioning auto-focus and higher picture quality than I can get today (no matter what settings I use or which I app I use).

The miui camera works on cm7. Check page 600 of the neutrino thread and look for my post of the miui camera apk.

nothing works properly yet
So far every camera app will not focus. They are all fixed focal length (of those I've tried) which leads me to believe no one included the focus feature (and auto focus doesn't work at all), only the digital zoom.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? Setting the camera to manual in some apps provides no focus capability, and setting it to auto does nothing as well.
I've tried the miui camera, camera 360, various QR Code readers which rely on the camera, and several others apps as well, to no avail. Not much point in having a camera if it's only fixed focus.
Thanks.
This is actually a big problem, as it prevents proper use of bar code readers, macro mode, low light mode, and a variety of other things which med the focusing capability of the stock camera.
I can't find a single camera add on which will focus.
Anyone have ideas? Stock, miui, camera 360, etc., are all non functioning in the focus department. Seems like something is missing from the ROM.
Thanks.

Actually, the Barcode Scanner app does auto-focus (for me, at least).
Which one are you using? I've tried QR Droid, the Amazon shopping app, and a few others, and none of them are able to focus.
Thanks

I'm using the app "Barcode Scanner", and Google Goggles works too. But I don't think it matters which app is used.
Are you perhaps using the latest cm7 nightly? Because the latest nightly (20120409) changelog includes this entry: "disable autofocus on camcorder start", and since code readers probably depend on camcorder functionality, it may be the cause.
I'm using RC1 btw, and it seems camcorder does focus as well.

I was using nightlies and went back to rc1, and the camera still wont create clear images of fine details.
Here's an example, in which the barcode and the text are blurry.

Not sure if you guys have seen this yet but it works on our CDMA. Image quality much improved. Love the additional options and 3D picture capture works. I couldnt find another thread so if this is double post I apologize. Apk also available for non rooted phone it looks like.

Igor has done great work with this port. Dont forget to thank him if you found this useful.
EDIT: Panoramic and burst doesnt seem to work but the other options are a welcome addition.
Update
0.11
1. Codec H264 is automaticaly used for 3D video recording.
2. Flash is always turned ON if flash mode is "ON" (when taking picture). It is very useful to see what you are shooting when taking picture in low light conditions.
0.10
1. Added option to set 50HZ/60HZ antibanding.
2. Removed video format selection. It doesn't needed! 3GP and MP4 are just a containers. Video encoding bitrate is the only important to reduce file size.
3. Added codec selection (H264/MPEG)
4. Enabled video encoding bitrate selection for 720p and 540p
5. Added more bitrate choices.
0.09 - removed because it always saves video into 3GP container
1. 3GP/MP4 video format selection
2. Added Camera version to Tutorial title
3. Universal flash script rewritten
4. Added autobuilder to sources in git

On the thread it does say not tested so I'm not sure what the results would be and also says if you have FC issue then try the 1920x1080 version. Have you tried the other version? Unless those apk are GSM specific then that could be why they arent working on your device.
Edit: Looking at this post it seems there are libraries that also need to be modified so I think this may only work for rooted phones.

I just tested this out, everything seems to work correctly on the most recent version of 1920, except fastburst of course, but just read the post and you'll see.
As for 2048 it does indeed force close after taking a 3D picture.
Overall this does work well, i'm not sure if I like it better than stock though as of now.
Just tried this out on non rooted phone .2048 apk installs a seperate camera app .not sure what does and doesn't work coz I'm the type to just open the camera and take a snap...gotta say clarity is much better and also the picture from the front facing camera is also a lot better

Thats a good question but even if it did and you dont happen to like that rom it prob wont matter. I rather have it as flashable so I can flash it on any rom I choose. Just my opinion
Once zsl drivers make it over, I'm pretty sure every ROM is going to include this camera.
you guys may want to go over here. its listed in the GSM but it works also for the CDMA.
[MOD] HTCCamera from Amaze 4G(rooted stock rom ready,2048x1152/1920x1080 in 3D), v0.8
i have it on my 3d...but they are still trying to work out some of the bugs.
i cant wait till its working 100%
Two problems:
-The highest video quality that I have to select is 1280*720 (even though I downloaded the 2048*1152 and have read people getting 1080p recording)
-When I press the button to switch to the front camera, it still does my back camera, but the picture is upside down.
Edit: Ok, for problem one I found that 1080p is only available for 3d recording. I just wish I could adjust the bps for 720 recording like you can for 1080p.
Problem 2 persists.
Agree the amaze camera is well amazing lol

For anyone that also uses Norton, there is a conflict and Norton will flag it as maleware. You can't "trust" it and you can't dismiss the Norton notification.
Everything works for me except photosphere. It will capture a photosphere image, but it's distorted and stretched.
Despite that, the HDR+ function works so good, and I think it looks better than the LG camera.
I've tested it, result: both are good, but LG more real and google HDR+ more punchy. However I fiind LG calera better...
No matter how much 3rd party camera offers, only stock camera takes better picture.
thanks for this post! wouldn't know otherwise, i did test it and its pretty awesome!
Especially more realistic colours in low light if you can keep the camera stable. Not to be used for moving subjects.
In Daylight, the G6's camera is great by itself so i probably won't use it in those scenarios.

Real life looked very close to how the Google camera processed the image.
@dkimmortal that comparison is great! Can't believe how Google app made a difference there!
Here's my quick comparison also, difference is night and day! What's wrong with LG?
Testing it so far seems its shocking in low light? Images are so noisy, poor colour.

You may have some app that have screen overlay on (draw over other apps) like screen rotation or f.lux. Find it and disable that permission when install this.
Tried it today in low light and its a significant improvement. Not sure about daylight so will look at that as well. Obvioulsy only works with one lens.
Mine keeps crashing sometimes when I take a photo - I think it might be due to setting the resolution at 16:9 (9.7mp) resolution. Missed a great shot as well!

Any other improvements compared to Huaweis app?
As far as we can tell, this camera port relies on the Hexagon 680 DSP on a Snapdragon SoC for image processing, which is why this port does not work on other SoCs such as Kirin, Exynos, and MediaTek.
Does it work or not?

no, 2nd link for snapdragon is the one that works
For the peeps who are saying that it works, yes it works but there is no difference in the photo, I tried this app like five days ago and also tried with the latest release even tho I knew that it needs the snapdragon DSP to work, the app crashes if you change settings and choose limited plus the other recommendations that they give on the thread where they have the app. I tried all of the settings made several photos indoor and outdoor and it doesn't work it just takes the pictures like any other camera app would, it doesn't even have the HDR mode activated, a proof of that is that if you try to take a picture with the regular camera app on HDR and with the HDR+ activated from the app you can clearly see the difference of one that works on HDR and one that doesn't . Video recording also is broken on 60fps and slow motion as well. I uninstalled the app after a couple of days trying it out with every option possible . But the truth is "IT DOESNT PROVIDE ANY BENEFITS OVER THE REGULAR CAMERA APP" with out the HDR+ it's just as any other camera app out there. Honestly I been playing lots with the P10 camera app and have found that it truly is a great cam, I would recommend shooting in RAW mode and using Snapseed for editing. Plus Snapseed has some useful tips on how to improve your skills with photography.

It would be great to have something like hdr+, even if it's software-enabled, for our Huawei's camera. I have a P10 lite now, but my previous handset was a Nexus 5X, and hdr+ is the only thing I miss right now.

Try one of the updated versions from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/google-camera-hdr-b-s-g-port-version-t3659879/page22
For me it's working - at least partially. Front cam and auto HDR are broken.
One version, the installer tells me it's not suitable for my phone - an A3. It was an apk file.
Hello @SchWeinSAuG, could you please upload your APK file or tell which version you used? I've tried a few and I can't get HDR+ to work, even when using your settings.
It works but with 2 problems. The flash is out of sync and the pics are too dark compared with the normal app.
As someone said earlier, the photos don't look that different from the stock camera. I tried many parameters and got basically the same results.
Could someone tell me if the Google Camera app runs on your A5 2017 and what is the version that you use?
I downloaded an application some time ago but the HDR + did not work, nor have I obtained better results than with the stock camera.
I would like someone to tell me if the HDR + works and if the photos are better than with the stock, and also what is the configuration to do in the settings for it.
Also, I would like to know if there's any option to activate the Digital Stabilizer for the videos in the app.
If there is one that works well, put the download link, please!
Thank you very much!

As the title suggests GCam ZCam 3.8.01149 was working just fine in all modes before the UI 2.5 update but after that front portrait/camera mode does not. Front cam video works though and all rear cam modes just fine.
I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the folders and uninstalling/reinstalling the app but the issue remains.
Anyone has experienced the same issue? Seems weird

Front will not work as Gcam requires RAW support to get the cam working but one ui 2.5 removed raw support from front. Zoran can't do anything about this cuz even after root you can't replace lib files so no hope for now. Just report this in samsung community to add the raw support back to front then only it will work.
I’ve ended up downgrading back to 2.1 as I need Gcam more than the goodies from 2.5. Wireless Dex is probably the one that I’ll miss the most but I can live with that until this is resolved.

I clean installed the last 2.1 update via Odin and restored my apps using smart switch. Tried a dirty install first but apps kept force closing. I'm back to this version atm

The one thing gcam does infinitely better than the stock camera is portrait mode.. Or any pictures involving people tbh. Everything else it probably does it better.

I’ve installed 7.4 and it’s running ok. Portrait mode for the front facing camera is hit and miss for me, sometimes the photos just come up as a black image and at times it works.
Everything else works well so far though.

I installed it on my Exynos S20+, the front cam doesn't work at all. Any ideas?
