Do you have similar problems? When i open the app often it tries to syn and then force closes. Or it works for some time and then suddenly hangs...
I think this didnt happen before the .21 update. I already cleared cache and deleted data of the app, didnt really help :/
Could it be server related? The market had some problems as well a few days ago (on all my devices).
There are some posts here at XDA and over on androidforums.com's TFP forum discussing this problem. It started happening prior to this update (in my case, it appeared immediately after updating--I can't remember which update though).
To my knowledge, the only thing that temporarily helped some people (not including me), was doing exactly what you already tried.
If you want to work around it, you can set the general purpose Email app to get your GMail, and then deactivate your GMail syncing in your Accounts so that you won't be double notified (or you can just disable status bar notifications in the GMail app)
Oddly enough, this update seems to have fixed the problem for me. (well 2 days after crash, it's back to hanging again--gonna try and decrease the days synced to 7 down from 30 and see if that makes it any better)
Thx for the input ill try stuff and i'm sure ill find a solution sooner or later
The latest update seemed to help my Gmail crashing issues at first. Then yesterday I installed Currents and it started crashing again. I didn't think anything of the connection until I read a post on another forum saying that Currents was causing the crashes for someone. So I uninstalled Currents and so far no Gmail crashes today. It's probably just wishful thinking that the problem is fixed, but thought I would post anyway in case. I know this problem has been driving me absolutely crazy. The main reason I wanted a tablet, easy and convenient emailing... and I can't even freaking use the damn email app without it crashing every 5 seconds. Has me about ready to get rid of it and get an iPad.
---------- Post added at 10:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 AM ----------
Of course it crashed the second after I posted and tabbed back to Gmail....
---------- Post added at 10:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 AM ----------
Does anyone know where to try and get some support for this issue, btw? I tried with ASUS. Five days later I got a completely idiotic response that had nothing to do with the problem. I have tried submitting feedback via the Gmail app, which goes to Google I guess. No responses. I've been saving crash logs thinking that maybe SOMEONE would be interested in them, but apparently not...
After a few restarts and clear cache and app data the problem seems fixed^^ Didnt hang anymore for 2 days using it several times a day. Maybe it was related to forced 2d GPU rendering that i disabled at about the same time (just breakes too many games and apps for me - would be nice to be able to enable it only for certain apps!). Not sure though if that was it
oh yeah btw at one time when i rebooted there was a 1/1 Asus app update, didnt say which app but that was interesting as well. I was on .21 already at that point.
I did a factory reset and so far so good. Knock on wood.
I've noticed significant improvement on GMail stability since the update as well.
Clearing data from "Google Services Framework" also helps with these kinds of problems. At least for me... So far update helped...
Factory reset didnt do it for me Still crashing all the time.
Just downloaded a gmail update from google play market. crossed fingers that it fixes the crashes!

hi.i updated the facebook app this morning and everytime i press messages or friends it force closes.wondered if anyone else has this this problem?? im runnin wolf's v06 which i cannot compliment enough, any help would be great, thanks
hi i'm also getting a similar experience but using rendeiro2005 [MOD/ROM]scamble_v01.2[CM6.1.3].
however my initial problem was the contacts were not syncing with facebook. i so ended up completing uninstalling the app, removing the apk from the system/app folder and then reinstalling from the market (this was a fix on one of his previous roms), it still didn't work so applied the contacts fix from wolf and it worked ok - however I now get fc on messages within facebook.
i was going to post in the dev section but not enough posts yet to be allowed..

I did the whole manual update to Lollipop, unfortunately, my phone keeps searching for GPS when I use apps that need it.
The problem is I like to use a boating app, and I go far enough offshore that I do not get data. Btw, I get this issue with any app that needs GPS, including Pokemon Go!
After searching online, it appears to be a bug in Lollipop itself.
Either downgrade, of go to Marshmallow if I can find a decent daily driver.
Anyone else have similar issue?

My Mate2 did the same thing...mostly after google updated a bunch of stuff. Just started doing it about a month or so ago.
Haven't touched it (all stock) in about a week. Got my new Mate8 about 4 days ago
"Searching for GPS" bug, might need to downgrade to KitKat

More details of my experience in that thread. Wife just pre-ordered an iPhone 7, probably out of pity, for me. One day I showed her my Google Maps and set it to drive home. No sound, no directions, but it quickly discerned origin and route home, when we got home it said "you have arrived," but the map, even though the pointer updated position throughout the drive, still showed the route line from the origin!

I've never had this issue on any ROM
Found a workaround
I was experiencing exactly the same issue! Not only that but it seems like this issue has popped up on reddit and latest amazon reviews too. Seems to have started occurring after July of this year for many people. I haven't determined the root cause, but it seems like it's affecting too many people to be a hardware issue. Some things I tried that DIDN'T work:
* Flashed latest Cyanogen snapshot, although I like it a lot more than stock
* Tweaked the /system/etc/gps.conf file for my region
Finally I found that my phone time significantly drifted off atomic time, noticed it could be a whole second off. After reading online about GPS technology, it seems having an accurate client atomic time should improve GPS performance. I used an app called ClockSync (with root is easier) to make sure my time was accurate and turned off syncing time with cell tower. It worked!! Using a GPS testing app (GPS Status & Toolbox) I can lock on to my position reliably in < 10 seconds. This is still running on Cyanogen.
I'm in love with this phone, so happy I don't have to buy a new one.

I tried to install CM13. I failed miserably. Then I started by playing the Pokémon Go game and observing the erratic character movement. Then played with the GPS settings. Turning off High Accuracy and leaving on Device Only still is working, except inside structures that block GPS signal. Tried High Accuracy while visiting San Francisco this last weekend and started having issues there, so back to Device Only for me.
Thank you for sharing what has worked for you!!!!

I found the latest Cyanogen snapshot I tried (cm-13.0-20160823-SNAPSHOT-ZNH5YAO0M5-mt2) too unstable. I started to experience random reboots every day, even while using Google maps turn-by-turn navigation. Restored back to official lollipop build (MT2-L03C00B322) from my backup (that was factory restored before backing up). Now it's suddenly working without any workarounds! I have no idea why it's working now. If you are considering dumping your phone for a new one, you could try a factory reset first to make sure it's not a hardware issue. :/

It was definitely not straightforward, I ran into several issues. First, TWRP recovery was complaining about invalid file system format so I switched to Cyanogen recovery to flash system. Second, I was getting constant Google services has crashed messages. Found out I needed to install it right after, before rebooting first. Third, I was stuck in boot-loop during Cyanogen startup. A hard reset finally fixed it.

That's a lot to deal with!!!
As of yesterday I am back to High Accuracy, and just as you note everything seems fine, particularly with regards to GPS.
I guess if I want to have Android 7, I'll save up for a phone that comes with it, unless I learn how to manually do it myself. (I was once a CECS major, about 16 years ago...)
Thank you again for sharing your experience! I hope we can all go back to enjoying our exceptionally large screens....

Not sure what to make of this, but it is a consistent and repeatable issue for my device. Please try it for yourself.
Launch Google maps driving navigation and audio from either Spotify or NPR One. Then try to launch the camera. The camera viewfinder stutters, the audio lags, it's almost unusable until I kill one of the three apps. In some cases the phone will kill navigation for me (or it will somehow die on it's own, not sure).
Very frustrating and not something I expect would be an issue for this high end device. Otherwise the phone is great but this is a use case I want to take advantage of and just can't.
Phone is stock. No root or any other mods.
Please open a regular thread.

You can open a regular thread here in the question section. The "Q&A format" you choose forces people to answer from a web browser.
This happened to me yesterday (wasn’t the first time...). I couldn’t figure out why the camera was so f——ed up until I read your thread. I had just driven somewhere using GMaps and streaming Spotify. I also use the Pixel 2 modded camera app and it does not have this lag issue after running these two apps, but still happy to know what the cause is for the next time!
Hi guys ! I'm in a big trouble here, i recently bought a Le Pro 3 Elite, but everytime i try use camera the cellphone reboot. What i've already try:
-Using TWRP to wipe System, Internal Storage, Cache, etc
-Installing a new custom rom as PixelExperience and Genesis 26s
Anyway, i have no idea what could be, sometimes my cellphone reboot instantly after use the camera, sometimes takes 3 or 4 minutes. Sometimes it stays in a infinte loop, other times it starts normally.
Ps: Sorry my english.
-First of all you're English is quite good -
Now for your problem...
Look the same thing happened with me in CM 13.0 but I had a more serious issue where camera application would behave like an adware and install all the unnecessary apps and display ads. So my advice to you is uninstall the app using *system app uninstall (root)* and reinstall it. Or just use "OPEN CAM."

According to me just flash TWRP and wipe the dalvik cache and the cache then try again.
another idea can be get a replacement camera and get it replaced (Faulty hardware can be a problem)
---------- Post added at 07:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:36 PM ----------
Hi man I just researched alot and found out this info..........
99% a hardware issue. Either the camera module stopped working or a cable is loose. 1% it's a software issue. If you're on a ROM, go back to stock and see if it works.
I've heard of this behaviour with the fingerprint scanner on the x720. It always turns out to be a hardware issue (the scanner stops working). In any case, the phone is easy enough to open up. The only struggle is getting the screen off without breaking it.
You can find replacements on Aliexpress but IDK how good they'll be, and if they're indeed Sony IMX sensors (they could be Omnivision ones).
Damn sure this will help you

Thanks for answer me again. I already wipe dalvik cache and the cache thousands of times, everytime that i try a new rom or restore my system to stock i wipe them. Searching on internet i didn't find a solution.
Nooo mann......
I am 100% sure you're camera is faulty and you will need to replace it. Find a replacement one online. You will have to spend at least 1500 to 2500 Indian currency.
So I like the big battery in this phone, but I hate that when I open an app, and it loads (facebook for example), then I get an incoming email, so I tap the notification to open and read my email, the phone closes/ends my fb app. When I go back to fb, it re-launches the app all over again. It's annoying when I'm in the middle of something, and it'll force-close and lose everything I was typing. I've enabled dev options, and see an option in there for apps "Don't keep activities" (destroy every activity as soon as the user leaves it) which sounds like exactly what is happening, but this option is disabled. I've disabled every possible battery saver option I can find.
Anyone know where else to look? You wouldn't think it'd be a big thing, but it's really annoying having to spend extra time re-launching every single app as opposed to just switching between them already launched.
Thanks in advance!

I am using Ruthless Pixel launcher, from here xda, and I haven't got this problem. May be you have to disable the DuraSpeed from Settings.
Bye!
I tried a different launcher. I'll try the one you use. I've even had problems with the launcher having to "restart" and when I go back to the homescreen, it takes several seconds for that to load.
same problem here, every battery saver option disabeled, duraspeed off, and everything that i need to to i did in the developer options, but literally every app reboots after i switch to an other. any news on how to get rid of it?
I've switched between several different launchers. This isn't a launcher problem. It's a phone software problem.

I'm running Nova Launcher and see what you're talking about...if you leave a Facebook post you're working on open, then go to research something else, even though the draft post is there on screen when you scroll for it, the post will close and re-open before you can edit it again, wiping out the draft. A bug that needs to be fixed, indeed. The weirder thing is, after looking at it some more, is that it isn't easy to consistently replicate. Weird, indeed.

So I packaged my phone up last night and shipped it back this morning. But a buddy of mine MAY have figured out how to make it work. Go to Duraspeed and ENABLE it. Then ENABLE the apps (or all apps) that you want to STAY ALIVE in the background. See if that allows them to all run, yeah, like making a fb post type thing. Report back. I may have to go buy it again!
I have ZimLX and no issue with background apps.

That only helps a little bit, if you switch between tw games, or a game than check facebook and then whatzapp, the game resets. Also if you like switch to 3 different apps, they usually reset and get force closed from the systhem.
Also if you turn on duraspeed, youtube vanced gets forceclosed, even when it is allowed in duraspeed.
So what i do right now is enable duraspeed and the app that i want and whenever i wanna hear music in the background, i have to disable duraspeed.
Also, it is a real dealbreaker right now, it´s just way to buggy.
it seems like they programmed a way too harsh task kille in on purpose to give a longe battery life.

Not true, everyone has these problems nomather what launcher, it is a software problem.
Usually everyone has tryed to disable duraspeed of course and whatnot.
This problem/bug is really annoying. It makes me hate the phone to be honest.
How/who do we report this too?
Try here - https://community.umidigi.com/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=210
From what I've seen, Umidigi employees monitor and are active in their Forums, so hopefully someone will pay attention.

obviously we habe the lastest rom and every user has that problem it is a rom problem.
Also, what is a zim xl, google gives nothing about that.
I had a few apps do screwy things with the powersaver on , and it would be a few. Kroger app would crash and would not work until you uninstall and reinstall it. Att Uverse app, when you login it give a message about allow permissions, it had all, anything that need the gps. if I turn off the power saver I do not have those issues.

[Edit]Actually this doesn't work well. A couple posts down is my fix that works.
I logged in after a while to post this! This is a reply to you and op and anyone else having this "problem". Thanks to this forum post, I found a solution. I think it's an ingenious design they created. If you want every app to run in the background, *enable Duraspeed and enable all apps* in the top right corner. Then, *Reboot your phone*.
After you do this, the phone will magically be as fast as it should again. It's like I rebought a phone 100x better then what I was using .
The ingenious part of it is, if you don't want certain apps running in the background then Disable them! (you'll probably have to reboot for any change to be applied)
I love this design and I am now back in love with my Umidigi F1 , hope this helps everyone.
i sold it like 3 months ago and fixed a broken note 9 for cheap. my friend who owns the f1 since then still has this issue even when he tried your fix.
also another friend who owns a f1 play has this issue since the last update he had, he even newly installed / whiped it and so on, seems like umidigi just has problems with theis software and also it seems like it only affects a few people.

Hello, I agree. The fix wasn't 100%.
So here is the official fix, and once again it makes sense. (You might have to enable developer mode)
Go to your apps/notifications in settings, select an app, under the app click advanced, Battery, then battery Optimizations. Under that page go through your apps and disable optimizations for apps you want to stay on in the background.
Found this out and it works.
Actually figured it out once I read your post
If it doesn't work, reboot your phone.
Still doesn't work, do this along with duraspeed on the selected apps.
Still doesn't work, might just be the app. (Some of my games still don't stay in memory)
It's working good for me now, but if I wanted more apps to stay open I'd check developer settings and turn Max apps to keep in memory to the highest amount.
and I agree, it's a bit unpolished. Probably something to do with their battery optimizations and Android's not being compatable.
Tried several methods and nothing truly works. Your best bet is to flash a GSI/rom. Or just root the phone and install "ram fix by cork" magisk mod. I'm using the latter method and it works fine.
Yep the software itself has far too aggressive memory management despite it having 4Gb of RAM and kills apps far too quickly.
I complained about it to UMIDIGI support and they said go buy an F2.
What i did was used this forum to install Lineage OS and now have no memory issues
Either install a GSI (I suggest LOSQ) or download RAM Management Fix by Crock if you can find it, it's not in Magisk anymore.
