Hello,
I recently installed I9100DXLP7 (4.0.3) - Region Indonesia (XSE) [Less Languages] ROM on my Galaxy S2 using Odin.
Eeverything runs fine except that I use and need only the US English keyboard and language on my device, however whenever I type something I see a small keyboard in the notification bar. IO know that this is an ICS feature which helps you to switch keyboard quickly but it is pretty annoying nonetheless.
It shows that I have 3 keyboards on my device, Diopen, Samsung Keyboard and Swype. I have disabled Diopen and I can't disable Swype but even after doing that I still see the Keyboard symbol in the notification bar.
Please tell me how I can just use the default Samsung English keyboard without the keyboard symbol popping up in the notification bar. Also, I'm averse to rooting or hacking the phone to do it. Is there a simple way?
Thank you.
Sorry I am banned from answering posts in the wrong forum.

It's been rectified, please post your thought now. Thanks
No, sorry there's no easy way without rooting youre phone.
If youre S2 is rooted, you can delete the swype and diopen apk in /system/app

First off, I am not the Dev of this app.
MultiLing Keyboard is the best Keyboard I've ever used. Just found it a few days ago. I know that a lot of you might already know about this app, just ignore this then.
This keyboard supports multiple languages and you can also download dictionaries as a plug-in for the languages you want.
It's got a lotta special characters like "Ⅱ①ⅱ←↩⇄⇡☞▼♞¹⚂¤∞♬..".
Plus, it supports handwriting recognition too.
Different layouts such as the "3x4" keyboard are also included.
It looks like the Gingerbread Keyboard! :-D
An app worth checking out if you are not satisfied with your current keyboard.

Pardon me for bumping this thread
But while searching the Market for a keyboard, I noticed MultiLing has a new version.
It's called MultiLing 1.6 to 2.1. I'm sorry I can't post a link because I'm bright, shiny, new to this forum ).
Has anyone already installed this?
I'm trying this as soon as I get home, but now i'm wondering... Do I install both (because it says 1.6 to 2.1)? Or does it suffice if I only install the latest version?

That is the same app.. It's just that it works only for Android V1.6 to V2.1.

How can i enable the compact mode/layout in it. trying very hard from days but no specific setting to enable it.
Reviving an old thread, but I use this on my gnex. It's really lightweight too.
Hi. I think that this is best keyboard for android out there. The only flaw I've run into was when adding new words to the sugestion database. It crashes instantaneously. Its not that big of an issue but fixing it would be nice? Even more at the rate ye dev is updating the app so frequently. I never seen a fix for that issue.
Hi Guys
Not very sure about all these Mods at all, it took me long enough to work out how to get Villains Rom onto my Ace, but I eventually managed a few weeks ago and all is well...
My only problems are, (I have no idea on adding / all this code talk) I need a simple way to get Haptic feedback on my Ace, I just wanted to install an App and this would sort it etc
I dont think I could add this any other way, or via a Theme install etc, I have read loads on here but it is all jargon, i'm lost....
The other thing, when i'm typing I have no auto correct for my words etc
My little Wildfire S showed words to pick as you typed etc, this Samsung keyboard layout is pretty poor etc, how can I get something similair to the HTC keyboard layout, again something simple to download / install....
I have hunted everywhere and still have no idea how to change this....
Apart from that and the SOD problem, I dont use Wifi much anyway, all is OK...
Can anyone give it to me in simple words lol
Thanks
maxmix
Well firstly for your haptic feedback jsut go to market and download 'KickBack'. Then go to Setting->Accessibilty tick the right boxes. But by personal experience i would say that the haptic feedback of ace is BAD at default. Somebody should tweak it right.
Secondly, get GingerBread keyboard (Steve Lin) from the Market. Thats the best for your use. In two weeks you will be able to type without seeing (Dictionary )

You may like smart keyboard, swiftkey or swype.
Hi there,
I am using thhis thread since I cannot post in development section due to having to little posts still I would have a query about that ROM I cannot find an answer using search function.
So far I used to use Westcrips Resurrection ROM 1.0, now i updated with Version 1.7 and I had to see that the option in the top panel to toogle lotsa different things like e.g. Screen time and stuff isn´t available any more, but only the 4 standard toggles (BT, WIFI, DATA, Sound) and screen contrast...
Now I remember there had been an app that was administering all those toogles in 1.0 - does anyone know how it´s called or how I can have that toggles on 1.7 as well?
Second 1.7 obviously doesn´t show the battery in 1 percentage intervalls, not even the numbers but only a battery sign. Does anyone know how to fix that?
Thx
go to: menu, system settings, rom control, scroll down to toggles. there you can select 12 toggles.
secondly the battery icon etc. you can change in: menu, systemsettings, rom control, scroll down to battery. there you can change a lot about baterrystuff.
greetings
thx a lot.
what about swype? That seems to be gone?

Westcrip changed the base of the rom to aokp that's why you see the different changes.
To get swype back go beta.swype.com and register and download the apk.

well I did so, but the problem is that when installing that swype beta you only get english or espanol to choose while I would need a german swype...

you can search in google for: swype-installer.apk
install this
then you can select the swype keyboard

Search through the development thread .. there is a thread that is solely for.missing Samsung apps that includes the default swype with all the languages.
Download that, flash via cwm and you should get all missing apps.
Sorry for not directly linking but am on phone.
Good luck.

Hello folks!
I'm looking for a way to rearrange the buttons on the Stock Samsung GS2. I know there are many custom keyboards, but I want to use the stock Sammy keyboard, because it's the best in terms of accuracy and buttons size. Can I manually rearrange the buttons, because my laungauage (Bulgarian) is not in QWERTY but in BDS format which is very uncomfortable for me. I'm root user, so don't tell me "You need root to do this", just say the way I could possibly do it, please. I've thought so far for decompiling the keyboard app, but still haven't tried.
I'm searching in Google for quite a lot time about this, but still haven't found an answer. Thanks to anyone willing to help!

I do have the paid version of Swiftkey 3 but it's so incorrect for me. Buttons are too thin, I can't (in most cases) tap the required one. Interesting fact is that I was a lot better with Swiftkey 2. It's suggestions were better also, now in version 3 I get good corrections very rarely so I have to manually type everything. And I don't like typing manually on Swiftkey because of the many mistakes I make.
Yesterday some user extracted his Galaxy Nexus' keyboard and posted it on the forums. I'm typing now from it and what to say..... it's perfect. I made 4-5 mistakes while writing this post. Too bad that keyboard doesn't have Bulgatian. I should try another ICS keyboard from the market.

I updated to Galaxy S2 I9100 XXLSJ Android 4.1.2 from ICS 4.04.
When texting I used to be able to click on the microphone icon on the keyboard and speak my message and it would be written and I would send it.
Now after the upgrade the microphone is not there. Am I missing something in settings or is this not available in JellyBean,
Please forgive my ignorance.
Tia Oilyboy.
So there is no "Google voice typing" in settings > language & input >...
?

What type of keyboard are you using? Android keyboard or Samsung keyboard?
Try to Download an app called JellyBean keyboard and see it fix the problem.
found it
I found the answer.
When in text mode
Long press on the settings icon, to the left of Space Bar and select the microphone icon.
Thanks for your help.
