[Q] What is the best OC application? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Good evening guys. I started this thread because I'm a bit confused on what is the best OC for our SGA. Can someone help on this?

I´m using No-frills CPU Control. If it is the best, don´t know but it works and it is free

How high can you go? with respect to the stability.

The overclock capabilities depend on the kernel the app will just help you access the them
Ketuts Blackhawk kernel offers 902MHz overclock

I don´t use OC Kernel atm and i never tried out how high my Ace can go.
There are differents in how high u can go, try out at your own Risk

My phone gets into a boot loop if I overclock it to 883MHz, so be careful while overclocking. You might kill your ace

I will try to run No-frill CPU Control and post some feedback later or tomorrow. Thanks guys. Suggest different apps, for me to observe what is better for may SGA.

Samsung tests their processors to work stable at 800Mhz only.
Stable OC is a kind of lucky draw.... My Ace is stable max at 921-940Mhz......

I use setcpu i dont know if its the best but is enough for me
I feel lucky because i can get 960mhz stable with cm9, almost 1ghz.
But be careful and do it by your own risk as i said i feel "lucky"

I can do 960 but it force restarts when ever it gets hot.. so 940 is stable for me... guess you are lucky after all..

you can use setCPU application. You can buy it from market. But I prefer not to OC my phone as its drains battery and harmful too...

I'm using SetCPU (I love it since it allows to create profiles, like charging, screen off, etc...). I'm overclocked to ~860Mhz without any problems.

overclocking is too much desired.... but in a hot condition .... keep ur ace cool at normal MHZ of 800 else u can end up of excessive battery heating ,, retarding battery life...and may be a processor burn ....

What /???? does it mean i cannot oc my phone ?
You can o/c it to 1400 rather than 1600.
Mine runs at 800Mhz constantly since there aren't any app that needs more thanks to the nice Exynos architecture.

You might be able to oc, but you may also need to tweak the voltages.
Every phone responds differently.
Try different max frequencys and voltages.

Opimus One:Overclock & Kernel

Some ROM's permitted to overclock the Optimus One to 867 MHz,but my one, cant do even 787 MHz,because appear an Kernel panic and they Shutting down,WHY? how to overclock more? and the difference between .32 and .35 kernel?(what are that numbers ?)
787 is stable ..
Overclocking beyond that will reduce the lifetime of the phone and its capacity to withstand overclocking ..787 is quite sufficient ..
from my LG-P500 using xda premium
but mu Optimus the maxium without Kernel panic is 768 MHz,if i put 787 MHz a random time they "kernelPanic" and shutdown uff why? i cant keep it at 787
Might be it has lost its stability ..keep it @600for a few days and try overclocking later..
(806 used to give me kernel panics before but now it doesn't)

You can't that means you can't. Don't expect miracles, and currently i see no actual need for overclocking as system is smooth enough

You're better off sacrificing the ~2% difference for better stability.
Different CPU's have different tolerances.
Why so much God dammit! 729 is like waaaaay more than enough.

Whats your stable OC frequency?

Ya..I know that oc freqencies vary from phone to phone,so dont give me that ****.I am asking this out of curiosity.
So,whats your stable oc level?
I can oc upto 883MHz without any troubles.I tried increasing it a bit more but i met with sudden closing of apps rarely

U can see something HERE as well... And I didn't say trollin cause of you... I said it cause the one who said he's "stable" at 960 ... BS!
998MHz with CM7 and 902MHz with CF-Root 3.7-b83. Strangely the CPU performance is better with a clock speed of 902 according to Quadrant Advanced.
mine runs stable on any rom with blackhawk kernel. clocked at 902mhz. but drains battery way to fast for it to be at 902 constant. i find that i underclock when im not playing with it.

Overclocking progress so far...keep going?

Hey guys I just started overclocking my ace and i must say i am seeing a difference in performance. Now a bit more details:
ROM: Stocklite V6
Using No Frills CPU Control (which came with the ROM)
So far my settings for the highest clock is:
MAX clock freq: 864mhz
Governor: performance
I/O sch: deadline
Should I keep pushing for a higher clock speed or is that good enough, and what are the signs of an unstable OC, i've been playing angry birds after each OC, also going on the market and downloading stuff, is that enough or should I run something else?
I know the minimum clock speed recommended for the ace is 245mhz, right now i'm just trying to get the highest clock speed, when I attain the highest clock speed, which governor would you guys recommend, on demand or smartass?
Try smartass v2
Use zimage which has multi overclock option
And keep min 245
And Max 902
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Thanks man, i'll give it a go now and report back.
HUMM...just tried 883mhz and within 2mins of playing angry birds the phone rebooted...i guess I will have to live with 864mhz...but still it's a good OC, everything feels much more.....crisp
Study about the CPU governors before you start using them. Performance governor uses the MAX CPU clock @ ALL THE TIME, Uses the hell of a battery. & SGA is meant to be working on 800 max at all the time, it was running 864 continuously. No wonder why your phone rebooted. Continuous OCs will hamper your phone life.

i can say that u speak for all of us. and u can read minds!
I'm not going to leave the governor on performance, I was just using it to let the phone run all out while OC'ing, I have enabled the Smartass V2 governor now and all is good. Now i'm finding the lowest clock speed where everything still moves smoothly. So far 320mhz is pretty decent..jittery but decent.

Dont think that if one person gets 902 or 920, that you will be able to as well
test each stage carefully. IMHO OC isnt worth it (im happy with max 800)

overclocking is not advised as the oem set the clock speed to an optimum value...below it you will lose performance and above it you will force your cpu to age early.
for gingerbread you dont need to OC at all...however for ICS OC helps to run smoothly...i dont overclock above 1.2gzs...this is a safe value and wont push the cpu to the limits.
no OC and works fine
I used 1,4 GHz for a week on ICS and my phone is still going strong, but don't take the risk. If you can't stand the lag, use Jelly bean or Gingerbread.
Why nothing about underclocking?
Well i use underclocking than over clocking....my phone needs to survive the longer power couts in my location
one +factor of underclocking..... less battery drain ^^
For daily use i set min 245 and max 806 and it's ok. Battery hold longer.
I OC to 1.4; 1.6 to individual apps like Real Racing.
When playing hard games 1.6 gHz, but for daily use i dont overclock it at all, or i just overclock it to 1.2 gHz.
Im on locked bl and just use all day 1024 Mhz with performence with antutu cpu master pro and cpu spy plus (new on the playstore, very good app) and just running fast with Jelly sandwich 7.1 and in 1 word... Just flying !!!

Safe OC is 1.4 IMO.
But every silicon chip is different and you may or may not get stability issues after overclock.
Also, overclocking is like smoking. Though you enjoy it, you're effectively killing yourself.
If you ask me, I never OC my phone.
And @Pandemic, don't use performance governor,
It kills your phone without overclock.
Also, it causes battery drain...

You my friend, don't know what you're talking about.
You manipulate hardware when you
Overclock. But it's a completely harmless software manupulation when you root.
So you can root and still not kill your phone

Moved thread to Q&A Let's keep things nice everyone, happy discussing!
1.9ghz for gaming
1.4Ghz bcoz Arc S uses the T variant of the chip which seems like just an exact copy at a higher clock.
my neo runs at 1.4g, 1150mv
my opinion
oc at higher voltage, bad
oc and undervolt a bit, ok

Mate,if you brick your phone software, that can be easily fixed with Flashtool,SEUS,PC Companion etc.If you brick your phone hardware, that piece of hardware become useless, and must be replaced. So you can't compare bricking hardware with bricking software.
