[Q] Rooting questions - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and to the Android world. I've just got my first Android device (GS2) two weeks ago and I have (silly) questions for you. Since I read the rules and I cannot post any topic in the development area, I wanted to ask you how I can root my device if my kernel is a XILA3. I searched for the insecure kernels in the special area but I could not find mine. Which one should I use instead? Thank you all!

Stickies & CFRoot thread. Read the section in the first post of the CFRoot thread in red which says "Help! Which file do I use ?".

If you have a look in Xperia General, you'll find a whole lot of stuff...

Hi Chris, just a heads up mate - a better place to ask questions is in the X10 Q and A sub-forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=745) or in the x10 General sub-forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=615). This sub-forum (Development) is for the clever guys that are attempting to hack/mod/change the way our phones work for the better - we have to try not to clutter it up with general stuff.
To answer your questions, rooting means that you gain the ability to have root access. in unix/linux terms - this is a god-like user that can do anything. normally the user is limited as to what they can do but with root you can edit system files, delete protected files, anything you want. as i can see from your first post, you already have 2.1 installed so you will need to use the SuperOneClick root method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824788)
Good luck, and remember - dev forum is for devs only

Another rule is don't start threads about threads to ask about things already answered in the thread you've already read.

Every one please read !!!!!!!!!

I have Added a Q&A Section to our great Forum
The Reason for this is, all of the other sections are getting bombed with questions and it makes it near imposable to keep tidy and to find the right posts
So i would be Grateful if you could all post in here if you have a question that does not belong in any other thread ie
If you have a Question about How to Root the Tab then please ask it in How to Root the 10.1 Tab Thread or if you have a Question about [Kernel] - 2.6.36.4 - OC-VFP_FP 1.4GHZ then ask it in that thread and so on.
If there is no thread about the Question you need to ask then please ask in here.
Do not ask Questions in the General Forum.
Thanks for taking time to Read this

You know there is a full section of the forum for the questions [Q], "Galaxy SII Q&A ", you posted in the android development, this is the wrong section.
Also a bit of more effort on use the search tool of the forum isnt a bad idea, that question got asked at least two hundred times and it's full of answers if you use the search tool.
Anyway...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
here you can find all the stock roms with the how to flash it.

HELP!

ive been searching all damn day, I just bought a
SAMSUNG TRANSFORM ULTRA
with 2.3.6 on it
how do I root / install custom rom everything I find is either 404'd or just doesn't work
can someone help please.
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.
Look up your device's forum in xda. If it isn't there, then type 'universal gingerbread root' in the search bar of xda and look up the results.
Code:
System.out.println("Sent from my SGY");

What rom what kernel best kernel posts are against the rules .
Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
