Ok i'm from mexico city and my carrier is Telcel GSM. I want to debrand my Galaxy SII. Personally i don't like ICS so i want a Gignerbread stock firmware. There are some samsung mobiles that won't work after flash because of the modem. I don't know if this is the case with the Galaxy s2. Hopefully i can flash any firmware and it will work with no problem i don't know. So please guys can you help me out here? What version can i flash to my gs2 so it goes unbranded and stock so i can root later?
Now i'm running 2.3.4
baseband l9100uhkd8
kernel kg6 cfroot
buiild unkg4
Thank you in advance.
is your phone lock or unlock? if you really want GB go with this one

Earlier in June I received a Galaxy SII that was unbranded, but I had to return it due to a little circle that seemed to be 'burned' into the screen.
Now I finally received my new Galaxy S II but to my great disappointment it's loaded with Vodafone crap, and branded:
PDA:KE5 / PHONE:KE1 / CSC:KE2 (VDF)
I want to replace the branded FW for the official non branded FW and I was wondering how to do that.. I went to this thread but i'm not quite sure which FW i'll need.. Does anyone happen to know?
Use the XEN version of XWKF3 firmware, it's for the Netherlands.
As intratech said flag stock unbranded firmware for your country
You can also try latest 2.3.4 based roms as batista 70, cognition or vilian
Search on the development section

Thanks for the quick replies, i'm downloading the Kernel and FW now, but before I get to work with that:
how do i backup the complete kernel/fw of my phone as it is right now, in case I ever have to send it in for repairs and don't want to void my warranty?
Will I be able to update future firmwares with KIES or will i have to keep doing it manually once I install the unbranded firmware?
After flashing the XWKF3 XEN firmware on my phone instructions say i need to flash the insecure kernel before i can flash the stock XWKF3 kernel. I was wondering which Chainfire version I have to get. I think it's the KF3 one from this post but I'd like to make very sure before I start doing things.
Then after flashing the Chainfire kf3 kernel I can use Odin in the same way to flash the stock KF3 kernel, correct?
Once all this is done, will KIES recognise my phone and offer me updates when they become available or will i have to keep doing it manually?
Is it possible to backup my current FW/Kernel with Odin so that I can put those back on in case I ever need to return my phone for repairs and don't want to get any trouble with warranty?
I'm new in the Android world, so i have some questions... sorry for that
my Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 is with 2.3.6 DXKL3 (Asian one) and i want to know if i can change its firmware to the xwkk5... and if i can do so, which languages does it support and what are the differences? i live in Brasil and bought the galaxy in Singapore.
You can flash whatever I9100 firmware you want on to your I9100. Region doesn't matter unless you're wanting to get updates via Kies. So far as languages are concerned, probably the same languages as any other stock firmware.
Try it & find out.
Hi guys, I'm looking for the stock ICS firmware for my Virgin Galaxy S2 (i9100/m).
Went into the thread with the collaboration of stock firmware but the downloads have been removed for both bell and virgin. Can someone point me to the right direction for the stock rom? Or any rom that's close to stock?
According to my copy of Checkfus, there is no official/stock ICS for I9100M/Bell Canada. If you're after a copy of Gingerbread firmware for this carrier/country, search Samfirmware.com
The last and likely only firmware for Bell/Virgin/Sasktel GT I9100Ms was UGKG2 (2.3.3), if you want ICS you'd be better served by downloading a european stock or custom ICS ROM as Bell has never expressed any interest in doing further updates for this phone.

As I said here, The Galaxy SII for Virgin Mobile in the US is NOT the i9100 or i9100M. It is the SPH-D710, otherwise known as the Epic 4G Touch. anyone looking for stuff for a Virgin Mobile US Galaxy SII is in the wrong forum.
Ok I went to update my phone through kies and forgot that i have a different kernal than before. Kies told me i cant update through it. I assume thats cause im using a different kernal.
Here is the details from my phone.
Model - GT-I9100
Android Version - 4.0.4
Baseband Version - I9100XXLQ6
Kernal Version - 3.0.15-I9100XWLPT-CL941023
Build Number - IMM76D.XWLPT
I am locked on O2 UK i think.
I have noticed since flashing this kernal last july that my phone performance has been poor in terms of it switching off by itself and so on.
What I want to know is how can i get the original firmware back on my phone so i can update via kies. And I also want to know how to install Jelly Bean on this phone and how I go about it?
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Aaron.
Hey,
i have found out that the latest rom O2 UK has released is android 4.0.4
you can download the firmware from here
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/159884527/f4d3bd8/I9100XWLPD_I9100O2ULP7_O2U.zip.html
You will have to flash that with Odin, just unzip the file and put it in the pda section on Odin.
After that kies should be able to recognize your phone,
if you want to update to 4.0.4 from kies you will have to pick an earlier firmware from
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9100&pcode=O2U#firmware
same precedure as above for flashing it, i have not used kies since i bought my gs1 2 years ago but i believe it will work
Good luck friend!
Thanks for that dude, much appreciated
Is this a Jelly Bean ROM or just original stock ROM for O2??????????
no, just Ice Cream Sandwich, but it is stock Touchwiz. (Samsung Rom)
but the Jelly Bean update must be around the corner i guess.
if not you could allways flash a stock Samsung JellyBean rom that is open for europe,
the main difference may be a different modem and that there is no O2 apps prebaked into the Rom.
i think the one for nordic counties should work well since you are in the uk,
you can find it at
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9100&pcode=0#firmware
Thanks again man, you have been very very helpful.
Thanks
no problem mate, glad i could help you out,
and please let me know if it works with kies afterwards
What will the difference in modems do? Will there be any affect on what I can do with my phone?
What is the modem for? Internet connection i take it?
Kies doesn't let you update with the nordic counties rom at all. But it works sweet on my S2 so I'm happy.

There is a 2.3.4 stock rom for uk/ireland on sammobile.com. I'm pretty sure you can flash it no problem with odin. You won't be able to go to a custom rom afaik because of the different efs version
