64GB Sandisk Micro SDXC card support - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Greetings!
For anyone interested.
I am now using Sandisk 64GB microSD XC card with my Xperia Ray.
Everything is working as it should, no issues at all, like with any other card.
I had 16Gb Transcend class6, and it was great, than I moved on to 32Gb Sandisk class4, and it was causing some slowness like 720p movie lag, slow opening of videos etc.
Now upgraded to 64Gb Sandisk, and its great, speed is very good, copying files into the phone, speed is 8-10mb/s, and from the phone 15-20mb/s.
Card comes formatted to NTFS, had to initialise it from the phone, using MIUI rom 2.3.2 (Android 2.3.7).
I hope the upcoming 128gb card is supported as well
Best luck to all.

Nice to hear that it works fine , but how do you spen 64 GB on a phone? its just a curious question, right now i have 32 GB, have Ndrive, shadowgun, a lot of pics I take, and some videos (not neccesarily 720p, the screen its not as good), ahh and like 2 backups of the system, and still have 21 GB free's

I have 16GB SanDisk, class 4 and I can run 720p movies great. Write speed 7-8 mbps, read 26-28 mbps.

That's incredible, I didn't think this was possible for some reason. Soon I will have my whole music collection on my Ray, hooray!

? SDXC Card in Live with walkman ?
I´ve found here Info that SDXC Card with 64GB work in Xperia Ray and Mini Pro. Live with walkman was about same time released in 2011. Anyone tried to use SDXC card in LWW? And does it?

Has anyone tried with Mini Pro?

That's interesting, I didn't see that post.
O.K. looks like it's supported
For those who've tried. Any real world performance gains?
I find 32gb has been sufficient, but would like a performance bump.
Mike

I bought a really cheap 64GB sd card (only 18$) and surprisingly it works well - Stock .42 GB with stock kernel. Formated in FAT32.
Although the read/write speeds are not great.

are you using the kingston 32gb class 4?
I bought (on my own risk) a micro SD HC-4 32 Gb Kingston one month ago (on 1.6 Donut) Now i have Eclair 2.1 on my Xperia X10 and the SD card 32 Gb works well.
I haven't any problems during this time.

the class reprezents the speed of your memory card
I bought a 32GB Kingston Class 4 and it keeps unmounting itself and overall lose contact with the phone but it works perfect in he PC.
I have done a 32GB filer verification so it's not a counterfeit 8GB in a 32GB disguise.
But I keep having trouble with it once it's in the phone.
It's a HTC Legend with BlaYo ROM
I have exactly the same micro SDHC (32 CB class4 Kingston) in a XPERIA X10 and it functions perfect. Try format with MiniToolPartitionWizard under Windows. Success!
I'm using a 16GB Class 10. Transferring songs are plainly drag and drop.
If you opt for speed over capacity, go for 16GB C10 instead. I'm using the Transcend one at 14MB/s writing speed. (priced at 33USD)
Well uh, why do you need 32GB for a phone?
what a question ))
why do you need 16GB?

I'm using one Transcend 16gb class 10 card, i can tell some things:
On the usb adapter it can WRITE at up to 16~20MB on linear writing and READ up to 22~25MB on linear reading.
This cards rocks, i had a sandisk 8gb class 6 mSD and will never regret this change.
This time i can get real HD recordings as before i would sometimes give me some small breaks when recording if for some reason anything tried to access the card at the same time.
By the way most class 6 cards record actually between 4~6MB!

Says the person who has Class 4 16GB SDcard.
sorry i am a newbee..but could u tell me how to know whether the card is class 4 or 6 will it be written on memory card cover? or it depends on company which manufacture it?
It will be printed on card.(look for a big C numeral will be inside it)
Class 4 is sufficient. Class 6 is gud nd economical. Im using class 4 8gb, no issues

Time to report back!
Well I got a 32GB San Disk Class 4 and...it's brilliant...the music library doesn't need any time to load...it's all ready...and after synching music, it only has to load what's changed (sounds simple, but not all devices are do that, trust me!) so I'm very happy with it...the bottleneck so to speak is now the Sony music app...it doesn't connect very well to Media Go. I'll save that moaning for the right thread lol
p.s. there are many threads on here about testing the diffferent class performance of SD cards and Class 4 San Disk was by far the best...other class 10s did not perform better reading and writing...they performed worse. Very happy with class 4. I got it on ebay for 23€ by the way, too expensive in the shops.
it depend on brand also. scandisk class 4 higher speed than other brand with the same class.

i have sk17i, and it recognizes 32gb class10 samsung micro sd, i think both phones are nearly the same, so the wt19i should also support

[Q] Maximum support size 64 or 128gb micro sd?

Hello,
As the title asks. Does anyone know if a 128 gb micro SD card will work in the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact? I ask because I know that usually, the limit these machines can handle is 64gb. And if so, does anyone use a 128GB card, and which one would you suggest? Many thanks for your time in reading this post and answering.

According to Sony spec. it supports up to 128 GB SDXC. Unfortunately I did not double check on my device.
Yes 128 works good on this baby
do you know if it supports uha-1 speeds?
Yes, i have 128gb class 10 and it works a charm.
I think your question is UHS1 OR 3 etc...
Mine is class 10 UHS1 and it is ok.
Any class 10 should be good enough, and if it has UHS rating, it is faster than those without UHS classification.
FYI, mine is Sandisk ultra.
Guys don't ever get sandisk ultra 64gb. I had 3 of their cards which was purchased at the same time and unfortunately it failed. The issue is rampant on their 64gb ultra (google Sandisk ultra cannot delete files). My micro sd suddenly became a read only device. Files are intact but i cant modify contents which means i cannot do format erase and anything. Practically it became a useless card. Already did windows low level format, tried to check drive permissions and it was not set in read only, no virus. The writting controller chip just broke down. for those who are planning to buy a card and have their cameras and their 4K vids automatically save in the sd card, then don't buy sandisk (at least The 64gb ultra). It seems their cards can't take much writing before it breaks

I have a UHS 1, 64GB SD card by SanDisk (I know it isn't the 200 like you asked) and that works quite well.
I'm sure you have looked into SD card speeds (or have knowledge about them), but if you don't the UHS class 3 is the fastest.
I'm guessing to be able to use the 200GB one you would have to partition it, however I aren't entirely sure.

I have a Samsung 128GB EVO SD Card, which is UHS Class 1 and it works very well indeed, I will also attach a benchmark for your reading pleasure :good:
P.S: I should add that my Xperia Z2 still thinks that using the SDCard (Internal) is better for 4K camera than the external SDCard1 (Samsung EVO), assuming the internal is much faster as it is on-board chip.
UHS-1 or Class 10, are very similar with write speeds on Z2. I have tested UHS-1 and UHS-3 cards, the difference is about 12mb/s in write speeds on Z2!!!!
I have UHS-3 and I record 4K video directly on SD without any delay in saving, reading or writing! The inbuilt 16GB as well as my Sony UHS-3 card have same speeds in writing.

As previously stated 128GB
I am using a Sony branded 64gb. I had a PNY 64gb and it had problems in this phone and two others. So I am staying away from PNY from now on.
I saw that there are 256gb micro sd cards. Is it fake or it can be real?
Yep and they only have up to 200GB

I have a sandisk 128 gb cx class 10 in my z2 and all works flawless
I'm looking at a Samsung SD card from Amazon Canada. Most likely 128gb. The only reason I'm leaning toward Samsung is because they're water, dust, xray, magnet, shock, everything proof. And they have great reviews.
Every card of UHS-3 category is fine. Sony or Samsung or Strontium, all work well. Maximum writing speed on Z2 won't be more then 20mbps in any condition.

So does the phone really support UHS - Class 3?
I have this sd card on xperia z2 but for some odd reason its causing the phone to reboot. I don't know if its the sd card issue or the the phone. The phone wasn't able to write some of the data on it during my last tour during photographing. A lot of the stuff was corrupted. I came home and wrote stuff on it and everything is being written without a problem via those sd card usb adapters. Anyone know what might be going on?
Any card above UHS-1 is useless as Z2 won't be able to get read/write speeds on UHS-2 or higher.
However they will be useful if you frequently copy data from PC to card with a card reader.
Anyone tried 200/256 GB card?
GSMArena states that Z2 can support up to 256GB (info by them or Sony), but here You wrote that officially it's max 128.
Thinking about buying one, but it will be in a week or two, so maybe someone tried and can say it works or not before I will test it by myself?
