Hey.
Im using MikRunny v1.13 ROM and AnthraX Release 4 kernel but they don't support GPU overclocking.
I heard that you can OC this GPU til 400mhz. Dunno if it's true but just saying.
Is there any kernel that allows to OC CPU to 1.7 or 1.8ghz and that supports GPU OC and runs with MikRunny v1.13 ROM? I don't want to change ROM because I can't find any better and smoother rom for Sense.
So can someone copy link of GSM Kernel that allows 1.8ghz cpu oc and GPU oc?
Why do you need to overclock GPU ? Isn't it enouhg powerfull even for the newest games ?

I was wondering how to OC the gpu too; lots of kernels say they support it but no instruction??
the gpu is not like the cpu because if you overclock the gpu it can give massive proble,ms like artifacts, glitches and etc. it is theoretically possible to overclock to 400mhz like the adreno 225 but the highest supported by htc is 266mhz and qualcomm is 320mhz. htc should just focus on drivers for now because the t mobile galaxy sii has the same chipset and performs better by a factor of about 80%. it might be sense consuming all the power though. just wait until ice cream sandwich. if it is possible however, what can we use? tegrak overclock can overclock the mali 400 to 400mhz and supports all galaxy phones. as some/ of them have the adreno would it be possible to overclock our phones using this app?
Ok, so does anyone know how to overclock the gpu ?

You're just using the wrong Anthrax kernel. Chad.goodman has had that ability in several versions of his kernel. Not sure which ones, because I just leave it as he sets it up.
I think raptoro is right. He has a private and a public kernel. Don't really know the difference though.

Most of this is completely off-topic. Also, the galaxy SII uses the Mali 400mp which is a MUCH faster gpu (Unless T-mobile have a different hardware version of the GS2). Also, it's the chipset makers that generally write the drivers.. you can't really blame HTC for that.
The OP has simply asked how to overclock the GPU, and with which kernel... if someone knows the answer to this, it would greatly help him

Yes, for some reason the T-Mobile SGII uses a qualcomm processor that is the same cpu/gpu as the EVO 3D but different radio.
Edit: T-Mobile and AT&T as well as several other SGIIs use the Qualcomm APQ8060.

But if we want better performance for our phones google team should improve Android. Iphone 4S doesn't have HUGE difference between Evo 3D but it runs faster and smoother because of iOS 5. I think specs are even better in Evo 3D.

What app do you use for overclocking? I know that AnrylTweakz 6 or 7 (not the latest one) has a bug to set the min frequency to maximum available. I use System Tuner and have no problems.
Yeah i am using anryl tweaks but now i deleted in the bug is still there:/

That's weird. It happens right after you reset the minimum frequency, right?
I have the same problem...
I even reinstalled the rom (with stock kernel), but now it's stuck on 1,2GHz, instead of 1,5 and it won't get down either...
Edit:
Okay, I give up. I did a full wipe, reinstalled the entire rom, kernel, everything, had to start right from the beginning, and the damned CPU still won't get a minimum.
Make sure u are s-off and change the rom i am running cyanogenmod 9 with 30.09 kernel and working like a charm 3650 points on quadrant and i have a minimum

Hello,
since I installed GTA 3 and N.O.V.A 3 on my Evo 3D I realized how bad the hardware is. I've read that it's possible to overclock the gpu to 400 MHz. All kernels I found only support 320 MHz. How can I increase the performane? I tried already the yoda 2.1 kernel and the cool z evoG 1.3 (did help a lot, but not enough).
I hope you can help me.
Thank you for your help
Gpu settings I believe is max'd at 320 , what rom are you using?

I use mwakious3D 2,1
I'm sure i saw kernels with 400MHz, bit i don't find them anymore.
Ok, you can drastically improve gaming in 2 ways, 1 rom and that is a matter of test which rom works best for you and kernel. Every rom plays games differently even with the same kernel. If I play call of duty zombies on some ics roms the game functions really well other roms, no it lags, even tough I flash the same kernel

Which combination is best for GTA 3 (found a lot of youtube videos. the Evo played it very smooth) and N.O.V.A 3?
Is overclocking to 400 MHz no possibility?
Personal I would do it even if it's possible, gpu's fry very quickly, if you ever had an xbox you know what I am talking about, I would try coolexe rom with the special sauced poisioned kernel (you can't find it on xda)

U have to make an account on the forum and wait for it to be approved, cant do much until it is approved.
Btw for gaming i found mwakious v12.3 rom best with anryls kernel.
3D Gpu oc to 300 (not 320 as less overheating with same performance)
2D Gpu to 266
Turn vsync on
Cpu 1.51 with smartass governor
Sio scheduler with 3072 cache
Use dual core or anryl tweaks to change
With this nova 3 runs as smooth (and somethimes smoother) than on my ipad3

Hello,
i finally found the Anthrax Kernel. It's unbelievably fast, but I think it could be faster. For example i got only 69xx in Antutu and 35xx in Quadrant. In Games almost everything runs smooth. But I not statisfied with a result that is not the best possible. Could the mwakious 12.0 (Update with OTA Tool failed because of "Pairing failed").
Can I take control over GPU voltage? If so it would be possible to lock it to the OC 320 MHz voltage and try how far I can overclock. The same is interesting for FSB and RAM.
But none of these modifications are dangerous without voltage control.
Not long, I give it 3hrs, LOL HE'S A WANKER, not the sharpes knife in the drawer

@flashallthetime
Why am I a "wanker"? (because of the scores? on infected rom i've read something like 75xx antutu and 40xx quadrant scores, so i wondered) I'm just addicted to push hardware to it's limit. If you don't understand this passion, it's not my problem. But thank you for your help, the anthrax kernel was i nice advice.
Sometimes there a tiny lags, i want to find a way playing without them.
Can someone with an overclocked S3 1.6ghz or 1.7ghz please run Geekbench?
I want to see the score vs the new A6 which just got featured and i cant run overclocked myself right now.
Thanks
Is Geekbench an accepted Benchmark? How accurate is it? The scores seem to be all over the place with the Nexus 7 with the crappy tegra 3 beating the GS3 in one test while the GS3 beating it in another. Don't really trust it if the results change on the fly like that. haha

I'm getting 1854, 1574, 1292 respectively for 4, 3 and 2 cores. So the final score doesn't seem to scale that well with cores, which is obvious consindering there's single-core performance tests.

The A6 clearly and undisputedly has the upper hand here. The score may be lower but we're talking about vast IPC and frequency disparities here. The Cortex's are getting slaughtered in memory bandwidth.
And here's a 1704MHz bench for the hell for it: 2283 score.
Would be interesting if somebody with a Krait phone would run it at 1GHz and stock frequency respectively.
I hit 1800 at stock on Jelly bean Omega rom V26.
I might try and clock this phone and see what happens

Any benchmark tool will be 'all over the place' depending on what is running in the background. Yes, you can turn off wireless, BT, data etc., but apps will still be launching and closing in the background which will affect the score. After all, these are supposed to be multitasking devices aren't they ?
Also, it's an inaccurate score if you actually go and forcibly disable system apps that would be running on a stock device, just to get a faster score.
Best way to use ANY benchmark tool is to get the device as near to stock as you can (consider a rom flash / data reset followed by very basic config) and then run the test a few times and take an average score. When I run benchmarks (Antutu, Quadrant, Geekbench), my results are often 'all over the place', so if I go with just one test, it would be luck of the draw really.
That said, my average score on S3 stock, rooted, unclocked in Geekbench 2.3.4 is 1586.
Funnily, when overclocked, the average was 1537
im on official (unofficial ) jellybean im updating to the latest leak now then i will come back with results that rape apple a6 cpu hard and in the arse
1830 at stock is my best so far without optimising anything other than a reboot.
The scores are higher on everything other than Memory Performance which is where Apple have beefed up the SoC.

This benchmark tests a combination of single and multi-threaded tasks. So obviously it will be all over the place when comparing an A9 quad-core phone to an A15 or Krait dual core phone. The phones also run differently clocked/speed memory, so tasks which are memory intensive would give a higher score to phones with faster memory.
I'm running Siyah kernel on Omega v26.1 and consistently get scores between 2000 and 2100. Only over-clocked to 1600MHz though.

If you want. There's no "safe" overclock. I'm not even sure if the 4412 is underclocked on the S3 as it is 1.6Ghz on the Note 2 and it's the same chip.
Different revisions. Note II has a newer revision so it can handle the higher clock without it being called an OC

i was wondering...
from the information i know , the i9300 and N7100 are using same CPU , Exynos 4412, 32 nm
but the difference is that N7100's CPU has been set to 1.6 GHz but our S3 is at 1.4 GHz
so i wanna know if we OC it from 1.4 to 1.6 , will it be running stable as Note II without cause any side effect like unstable or reduce CPU physical lifetime ?
overclocking is stable till 1714mhz and for some till 1800mhz
so stability yes but cpu life hmm not sure i saw someone check his Cpu after a while there were some brown spots on that thing it was grilling

I am running the SIII on 1.6 GHz for quite some time, no problem at all. Cannot judge on the long term effects though, but at least 2 years it should do, after that anyway time for a new phone
I don't overclock anymore but some apps report the CPU as being 1600.
My guess is the cpu is underclocked for the s3 rather than overclocked for the note 2

Very good point, Samsung should not overclock it as it may cause freeze and instability.
So maybe it has been downclock due to battery reason to something like that? Because note 2 battery is bigger than ours...

I think because they knew note 2 was coming, they need to give it more advantages over the S3 to sell it more
