[Q] - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Having trouble with what I think is my modem. I went from saurom(phone working fine) to unofficial
ROM. I didn't do much testing and I flashed a theme that put me in a boot loop. So I restored my nandroid backup before the theme and now I notice that I am having a hard time receiving calls, most of them go straight to VM. I can however make calls fine, and send and receive texts. My data seems slow or unresponsive at times too. Any ideas?

I ask, did you wipe everything? Did you do it twice? Even with your nand restore?
Just a thought, CWM is beta-ish and might have flaked?
A good test would be to flash / restore to stock and see if you still experience the same issue.
I've always wondered if tid-bits might not be wiped, not wiped right / clean and or get left behind.
I've noticed that even the stock reset to factory and format usb storage leaves things behind. I've "wiped" a few notes and they still had previous pictures, contacts and directories still accessible afterwards.
YMMV, just suggestions, you assume risk and responsibilities.

[Q] As of Sunday, voice call lock phone?

Background:
Unlocked, Rooted, S-Off, ICS Leak RUU 605.22
Was running Ivysaur Rom with no issues at all. On Sunday afternoon, the phone started acting up, wouldn't light up when pressing power button, huge lage problems and all the sudden, incoming calls lock the phone requiring a battery pull and outgoing calls lock during call resulting in battery pull. Well Sunday night Venosaur was released so I tried to update to that, update went good, but no fix. So desperate, last night I flashed the new leaked RUU. Everything went great, thought everything was working, but now, no incoming calls at all and outgoing locks the phone. Please help me, i'm at my wits end.
Upon further investigation, it seems as if I'm getting tons of Android Process has stopped, where you either select ok to close or wait. These are happening in the background for some reason. I've ran fix permissions, just tried clean wipe 5x and then flashing scroslers new debloated of the leak. Still having issues though. I think these process stoppages are causing my messaging issues too, as in no landscape texting which now comes and goes.
What should I do?
Wipe data/cache/system/boot in recovery and re-install rom. Be very careful of what data you are restoring as it sounds like a data issue to me.

I've once had similar issues flashing one ROM over another without wiping data properly. Could be due to different UIDs, folder layouts, etc. compared to the ROM pre-Ivysaur. And then Titanium Backup restores wreak havoc due to the differences. Remembering to do nandroid backups helps for just such occasions.
If sure about being fully clean before flashing, check MD5 of your downloads for corruption, check network settings in the ROM, reflashing the RUU twice in a row before using, and reverting back to PKMN ROM or downgrading to try and fix the call issues.

[Q] Fast and constant reboot

My pocket felt hot, so I pulled out my phone and saw that it kept rebooting itself. It just shows the initial Samsung splash for maybe a second or two, then loops again. I can get into Recovery and Download modes fine. I tried wiping the cache, factory reset, restoring a cwm backup. No luck so far. I've been using the CM9 rom for months. I haven't flashed or changed anything in months, I haven't even installed new apps in a while. Before this happened, it said I had no signal, so I had to restore my EFS(which I've had to do several times since I got the phone, mostly when I was switching back and forth from CM9 and stock to see which I prefer). After going into and out of airplane mode to reset the antenna, the signal and all worked fine. I let the phone cool down to make sure it wasn't just rebooting due to heat, but that didn't change anything. I've been searching here and google for anyone else with an identical issue, but I've failed so far. Everyone else seems to get to the home screen or just having random reboots during use.
Just to clarify, my question is: How can I fix my phone? Is there any other information I can give that would help?
I have the international i9300. I also tried removing the SD card and SIM card, since one thread concerning a different kind of rebooting issue reported success with that. Nope.
Try to reflash a stock rom on Odin
Is that different from restoring the original rom with CWM? I did that already. I don't have or know how to use Odin, but I'll download it and figure it out if that's the next step.
Solution?
Ok, I never didn't have to figure out Odin. I fixed it by wiping dalvik, factory resetting, restoring the stock rom, wiping it all again, rebooting into stock(it worked), then restoring back to the backup I made after the crash. Some of these steps might not be crucial, but at worst you waste a few minutes to make sure it works right again. Hopefully it'll help others with similar problems.

SIM cantread after Nandroid backup :(

Hi guys,
I wonder if someone can help me with this... really annoying problem!
I was checking out various roms i downloaded here, started with 4.0 aokp which was great, then gave cyanogen 4.2 a try, but then i wanted to go back to Aokp 4.0 cause it seemed to run faster
Now first thing, i couldnt get rid of cyanogen (no offense intended) cause when i wiped all data, cache and dalvik it just took aokp a few seconds to install from CWM recov, that doesnt seem right, right?
Then installed GAPPS, but still it ran on Cyanogen
So, i did a NANDROID backup, which made my phone like before i started with all this..
THIS IS WHERE IT WENT WRONG?
now it just wont read my simcard
i tried my sim in my old phone and that works fine, so the problem is in my phone somehow
is it something about the radio settings specific to my phone and network?
how can i change these settings and are they specific for my provider?
you guys always helped me out so i hope you know what i mean..

I've exactly the same problem.
Are your wifi and BT still OK ?
Is your IMEI (*#06#) still the same as under the battery ?
Was your phone locked ? Did you buy it with a SIM ?
My problem appeared after flashing several different modems/RILS : I got no error warning anywhere, but after reboot, I completely lost my netwerk connection. (no voice calls , no mobile data)
At first I thought a bad RIL driver, so I restored my Nandroid backup from the day before (after wipe cache/wipe dalvik/format system), but still no connection with the netwerk. and can't even make voice calls.
Then I was in panic !
After this I did a complete factory reset, and wiped/formatted cache/dalvik/system/data/SD-card and went in to download mode. After loading a stock ELLA for my region using Odin, still no connection. I was also never asked to enter the PIN-code for my SIM to unlock it.
Damned, this is an embarrassing situation : I can't think of loosing my SG3 for several weeks if I have to send it to Samsung !!
Mu phone is bought without SIM, so it's not SIM-locked.
My Wifi and BT are still OK, my IMEI is also still OK.
Any other ideas, please ?
How do I come in the service mode for the Radio ?
This is the way my netwerk is indicated : a circle with a stripe, much like the famous traffic sign.
Its fixed
So i have no idea how it eventually got fixed but if someone else has this problem, heres what i did:
Full wipe/factory reset blablabla all that
Did Nandroid restore again, put the AOKP ROM and GAPPS back on my phone
Installed ROM which was I9300CEDLI1
Used Odin to install latest CWM, which was already on there, but still
Then booted into CWM and installed .zip of course
This still went suspiciously fast since the very first time it took way longer, that worried me but,
Installed GAPPS again,
Rebooted... IT ASKED FOR MY PIN NUMBER!! hell yes that was what i wanted!
So now it again sees my simcard in there, so now i can make calls end use intnet again!
Still i think it started after the nandroid backup for some reason, or it may have been because of wiping Dalvik Cache?
I have no idea if that even makes sense

Good to hear your problem is fixed !
I'm still not able to make voice calls or enable mobile data : "insert SIM card" is the message I get.
I did already twice a full reset/factory restore and flash a stock ROM using PC Odin, but no avail.
Today I did a restore from my EFS folder using a backup that a had made before the problem appeared, but no avail.
BTW, did you also have the same indication from network status as on my screen-shot ?
Any idea what else I can try ?
I'm getting desperate .....
I'm having the same trouble after doing backup in TWRP when boot up it doesn't recognize the sim card.
I've flash CM10.1 and it only work after i remove the card e put it back on.
Try to see if it something about the simcard.

Rui

Bunch of issues, but ended up with : Data not working.

Started with stock, then S-off'd, rooted, and flashed a custom AOSP (can't remember the name). Everything went swimmingly for months.
Out of nowhere, I started getting "internal storage" issues. Internal storage was listed at 1GB, and started filling up regardless of if I deleted things. It seemed to cause slight problems, but nothing serious. Shortly after, I stopped receiving texts altogether. Tried flashing a new ROM, went with MIUI V5, it worked, but still no texts. Decided to start from scratch. RUU, re-root, re-flash recovery, etc etc. Ended up flashing MIUI V5 again, but got stuck in a bootloop. Tried 4-5 different hboots/recoveries/every setting imaginable, nothing. Started over again (RUU >>>), flashed MIUI V5 again, and this time it worked. Load it up, ask a friend to text me, BOOM, text received!
Open up the browser... "403 Forbidden". Wat. Nothing to do about it, it seems. I've tried fiddling with all of the relevant settings, I've downgraded/upgraded radio, nothing. I've flashed to a different ROM and back again, nothing. Just crip-crapity-crap.
As of right now, the rest of my night is going to be spent backing up/flashing to sense to do system upgrades/restoring backup and hoping it works. Anyone know what would cause "forbidden" errors, data wise? Calling/texting works both wase (not MMS, obv).
I think you should try a new kernel
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
Problem was solved by backing up my current MIUI build (working minus data), full wipe, then flashing Harmonia 3.17, doing all available System Updates, full wipe, then restoring my MIUI backup. I now have data, send/receive MMS, and calling, + MIUI V5 totally working.
Finally!
Case closed. Thanks!

[Q] Unable to make calls, CW11

Hey everyone,
I have this problem along time already, which when I dail then I can't hear any dial tone
and when the other side answer's we can't hear each other.
I have tried so many solutions such as changing a cell company and changing modems: NEUGND1, JKUGNB2
When I'm really really lucky I am succeeding to make a call, but this situation is really annoying.
Any ideas ?
Flash the full stock firmware for your country with Odin then factory reset, if still the same then you have a hardware issue.

I'm almost sure that it's not a hardware issue since it started to happen only when I flashed the cw11 room.. Is there any other way to check this problem?

The only way to be 100% sure is to change rom or flash to stock so that you can rule out software issue.Just make a nandroid backup of your current rom then flash back to stock you can do all that in less than 20 minutes
Hey everyone,
On one of my phone restarts some how it took more then a regular restart (the time that takes a phone to start from a new flash)
SO after couple of minutes the phone booted up clean, with everything erased! luckily for me Google saves most of the information
on the cloud so most of my stuff were restored (made me make the backups of stuff in more often time)
The weird thing is that suddenly I can make calls without any problems (what a mystery ha ?)
And now I'm afraid to make any upgrade to a newer CM snapshot version haha. (even though I can make a nano backup and try it out)
Thanks for the help !
