This is a rotating led charm that notifies you if you have a call. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/cellphone/a150/
It says only works with GSM networks but I was wondering if there's anyway to get it to work with the CDMA DROID razr.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Sure, it's possible. Cell phone charms that light up and move are made for both GSM and for CDMA phones. You could buy a CDMA one (http://www.x-tremegeek.com/cell-phone-accessories/cell-phone-charms.html) for example. If you were any good with electronics, you could rig the circuit to make the motion work using the new CDMA charm's guts.
The question is, do you want to? These charms worked well with "dumb phones" years ago, since the phone only radiated when receiving a call. With modern smartphones, I found there are way too many annoying "false" signals caused by data access. When I was on T-Mobile, I used a TARDIS that sits about 4" high on my desk. It's GSM as well (most of the world). It makes the dematerialization sound and flashes the light on top. But like I said, when I made the transition to the smartphone world, it became way too annoying to leave on. It certainly didn't give any *meaningful* noises.
Thanks. I guess i won't be getting one haha. Now it'd be cool to make one that would only work when you got a text or call like through Bluetooth. I guess these charms are a thing of the past.

Current sprint user here using the photon 4g. Not a bad phone by any means but Sprint coverage sucks. I'm not interested in the galaxy nexus as every Samsung phone I've ever owned has had major issues. I see the threads in the nexus forum. And see the nexus still suffers from poor GPS and android is bugs.
The only other phone Verizon has I'd consider is the razr Mainly because I have the photon and they are somewhat similar software and hardware wise. But I listen to music a lot on my phone and the resound just seems like a good choice.
Few questions, hows the GPS? Hows the performance? Any lag on sense? Speakerpbone loud?? I had a EVO 3d aand returned it the day the photon came out. It had a horrible camera, GPS was spotty, speaker phone wasn't loud at all and sense just lagged from time to time.
I have had great success from HTC in the past except for the EVO 3d....
So help me make the jump.lol

Razr is a POS, lol.
On a serious note, the Rezound is a solid choice if you are coming to Verizon. No one has stated any issues with GPS accept the device has gotten hot for some users. Performance is on par for best device w/o perm root. The speakerphone is decently loud. It is as loud as my X2 was at least.
+1
Agreed ... I have done my fair share of reading these forums and GPS lock and Speaker Volume are not on the complaint list. Heat if you get a bad unit and possible dead pixels (which would the same for every phone) are the common complaints.
Razr screen.. OMFG HORRIBLE Pentile!!
If you go to a Verizon Store to get the Rezound make sure you stay there if you can and test it out... Like that if any of the common issues show up your right there for a replacement.
Sense runs perfectly no lag (that've noticed)
I don't use the camera but other Rezound users love it
GPS locks in pretty fast

I'm loving mine. It's everything I could want in a phone. GPS locks on faster than my droid charge. I do wish the speakerphone speaker was a little louder. Other than that I really like the phone.
I've never had a sence phone, always had touch wiz, so I'm actually enjoying my lag free sence.

Wow, is this a fun, beautiful phone.
Curious to who I know around here. Any x2/bionic peeps around? Curious to all of your thoughts on this phone and if any of you here are cheesecaking.
I must admit, I think I like this better than the Nex. Additionally, Moto made some very nice improvements to their interface (*blur*) on a lot of different levels.
Anyways, just saying hello to all of you. Let's keep this forum alive.
Cheers.

I don't use hotspots so I haven't experienced this, but I do know I don't lose apps after a reboot
So far mobile connection seems far superior, as does performance. Also, huge fan of the screen, although I do get kind of a greenish tint at times where I feel it should be white - market hang screen for example.

I'm sorry I didn't quite understand the trade-off bit...apologies...but when I saw it once, I was looking for a faaaaar brighter screen, considering the fact that its a sAMOLED...but I found it a little dark...but was told in some forum its because of some ambient setting...will make sure to check it next time properly...
But am surely buying it for sure...in a while... Congrats on your phone BTW.

Hope to see you here soon, this really has been an impressive improvement on Motorola's part. As far as the screen goes there's an additional option to allow the os to manage auto brightness to conserve battery. Net effect: it's about 25% dimmer at times than just "normal" auto brightness.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
I believe the dimmer look is attributed to the AMOLED screen. What I was saying as far as a "trade-off" is that I'll take a slightly dimmer screen to get a less pentile effect. This screen looks much nicer than the Bionic in my opinion...
I just "upgraded " from the nexus to the razr and I am absolutely loving it. The nexus' radio was awful. This phone is just so much more solid overall.

Got this phone a week back! Totally loving it. My old Xperia X8 was almost driving me nuts! Already rooted and safestrapped!
So how's your RAZR experience?
I'm do for a upgrade. I have a Droid incredible now but i have been looking at the razr and the nexus. Only thing that concerns me is the internal battery for the razr. I love everything about the razr better than the prime but the internal battery. Of something goes wrong during rooting or flashing roms and the razr freezes how do u go about getting it to unfreeze if you can't pull the battery. Thanks. maybe question will help me make up my mind.

If anything drastic happens, then you can remove the battery.. it is not a BIG activity.. the Kevlar back is held by 2 clips at the bottom and some sticky "something" at the top. Just lift from the bottom and you can open the back by fingernails itself..... inside it is the same battery....
But 99.9% of the times you would not be required to open it...(I opened due to my curiosity)...The phone doesn't freezes...it simply restarts ....

You can't go wrong, I love my Razr and have had zero issues with it so far. I like the external SD slot,USB mass storage, build quality is superior, love how thin and light it is , and it's Android 4.0 upgradeable(should be coming sometime in Q1 of 2012).
It's a great device.
it is quite brilliant....head-turner most of the times....
Pros:
1. Looks
2. More Looks
3. Build quality(far far superior than any Android till date....)
4. Music quality, again top notch, but to discover them truly, need to get some really good pair....not that good with the stock headphones.... I am using it with AudioTechnica ANC-23
5. Extremism in terms of eye candy....no animation is gaudy enough and no transition can be more superfluous...
Cons:
1. Partially Android Gingerbread is letting it down. Dual core support is not really going though, but with ICS coming next year it can be fixed.
2. Random reboot problem. The phone simply reboots itself, whenever it thinks that you have done something awful, or it has done something wrong.... NOTE: It never freezes, it just reboots.... but got a new update this evening, did not have a reboot till now.....hopefully it is fixed...

That's good. Is yours rooted. Cause I will be definitely be rooting it if I get one. And I was comparing it to the nexus. And I see the nexus looses alot of signal. And personally I think the razr looks way better then the nexus. But the nexus will have a lil more development I suppose.

Never owned a Motorola, always HTC and the Nexus brand. The lack of sd card and the overall build quality of the recent Nexus just turns me off. The Razr is just one knock out piece of hardware and the specs aren't too shabby either. I thnk the Razr wth ICS is going to give it wings. I am picking up a Razr at full price. Coming from the rooted Thunderbolt will be a big change. The Dev support for the Thunderbolt has been unbelievable, will still keep my Thunderbolt but I want the Razr and all the accessories to go with it. The accessories are just fantastic. Calling Verizon and putting in my order.
Agree. I am still on the Droid incredible and i love it still. I also have never used a Motorola phone. So let me knw how u like it. :-D

I was skeptical, and in fact wasn't going to upgrade. My Evo 4G started going flaky though so I decided to upgrade. My humble $0.02:
- ultralight and rigid. exudes quality construction
- phone has a nice feel to all the surfaces
- Beats Audio - I thought this was pure marketing nonsense, then tried with the same quality headphones on this and my old Evo and there's a clear difference. Same thing when I plug in from the headphone jack to my truck stereo. Very surprised.
- speed - can't bog this thing down with anything I've thrown at it
- Battery - still not perfect but I think it's a bit more efficient than my old Evo. At work where I get very little signal it still sucks the battery dry trying to reconnect voice all day. I may just put it in airplane mode when at work. Frigging army construction regulations.
Any dissenters? I'd recommend this phone more strongly than any other phone I've had at the time.
In this forum i dont think anyone will disagree, yes it is a great phone. Have some fun,go over to the s3 forums and brag it up
This phone is extremely solid compared to the Evo 3D, which I passionately hate and wish I had never owned. Unfortunately, a bad signal is always a deathtrap for a phone's battery, but it seems the rest of it is working out for you.

Do any other cell phone providers have good service at your work? I use an app called roam control. In my gym the free-weights are on a lower level with terrible signal. With the force roam on the app I'm able to get constant solid data, so I can listen to the tune in radio app. Just a thought.

If u search "roam control" on playstore there will be an app called "no roam control" or something like that. Anyways it is the first one on the list. It is by the same developer and there's a link to their website. U can buy a license and download it straight from there. Only thing that sucks is u will probably have to buy a new license for every new phone.

Hi has anyone had a problem with the screen on there RAZR where in a dark black room and you watch a video for example and you get to a black screen there are black spots all over the display and screen leakage on top of where the capacitive buttons are.
I have had two razrs because of this in a week I can't stand it and I just called verizon today and they said that there is nothing wrong with the phone like they don't believe me but I don't think they went into a dark room to really test this issue.
Just want to see if anybody has had this issue and what can be done to possibly show verizon proof that I am not lying about the screen on the phones they have given me.
Thanks

To me it is unacceptable I got a new phone worth a defect would you buy a laptop with screen issues I wouldn't so this isn't good to me at all.
So I went into Verizon told them about my issue talked to someone on the phone found out I was in my 14 days still and Gabe it back can't have this problem but one good thing came from it I now game a RAZR M and it is beautiful without the screen issue also thanks for everybody helping and enjoy your RAZR it is a good phone but not for me with the screen issue on two different new phones.
By the easy RAZR M is a great step up in my opinion same size screen better quality screen though (even though technically it is the same) and fast.

You will probably have the same.issues with the RAZR M. It's not a defect per say, it's just something that happens with this type of screen, which the RAZR M also uses.
