Using a safe open pry tool, gently run the tool along its sides of these brackets and they will come right off.
Next, you’re the one to remove the following (4) four screws first, two on the bottom of the phone, and two on the top. These are T5 torx screws.

Next using your Torx5 screw driver, remove the two screws on the back housing cover.
Next, using your safe open pry tool, run along the long sides of the phone, this will enable you to release the back frame housing away from the front assembly of the phone.
Next, using a Torx three screw driver, you were going to remove the following (9) nine screws holding your frame in the place.
Next, using a safe open pry tool, you were going to release the LCD and digitizer cable flex ribbons. One is holding by a jaw connector, you will need to release this jaw connector as shown here to release that flex cable.
Figure 2
Now, you’re going to need to release the antenna flex cable holding the place on the top of the phone. Use your finger or safe open pry tool to gently release it from the board.
Now, you can gently move your motherboard over to the left hand side. You will notice that the flex cable in the middle of the board is either connected or disconnected from the board. If it is still connected, use your safe open pry tool to disconnect it from the board.
Lastly, you’re going to remove the camera from the actual back of the phone. Once this is removed, you can safely remove the motherboard away from the phone.
Now, using your Torx three screwdriver, remove the following (4) four screws from the bottom of the phone.
Now, using a safe open pry tool, gently release the flex cable ribbon with the jawbone connector from the phone. Be careful to release the jaw connector first before removing your flex cable ribbon.
Figure 3
Now, you will need to go ahead remove the flex cable ribbon from the phone. Be careful, it is holding place with adhesive, so when you release it from the middle backing, it will take a little bit of effort. Do not tear the flex cable ribbon doing this.
Once this is complete you can now separate the LCD back plate from phone.
Next, using a hot air heat gun, gently heat up the sides of the digitizer touch panel. This will go ahead and loosen up the adhesive holding your touch screen in place from the actual midframe of the phone.
Now, using your safe open pry tool, gently run along the sides of the touchscreen from the housing. This will allow you to separate the touch screen glass from the actual midframe housing of the phone.
Once this is complete, you can now replace your touch screen digitizer on your Droid X2.
Figure 4
Now you will be able to replace any parts on your Motorola Droid X2. Simply replace the damaged parts with the new ones and reverse the order to put your phone back together again.

Great info...my son dropped his while standing on a rock pile foundation and it's about 50 pieces (give or take 2). We're going to replace the screen ourselves. It's cheaper to replace the screen then paying the $99 insurance deductible. There's also a video showing the steps but now I don't have to write it all down in order to put it back together.

Yes. Your LCD screen is damaged. You will need a new LCD screen to replace the damaged one.
Thank you for the reply. Is it worth sending to HTC for repair? I bought it around December but it was an open box. If not, generally how much does the screen cost, and is it easy to replace ( with the right tools and patience)?

When you say the screen is not working do you mean the touch screen or are you getting no picture?
So I followed your excellent guide (to replace a battery), and I thank you!
However, in the process, I managed to break, break-off, loose, the Vol- button. I can no longer feel the button protrusion when the case is off, and with the case and volume rocker on, there is no Vol- function.
I can find work arrounds, but if their is an easy fix, I'd be happy to hear it!

Small Phillips Screwdriver
T5 Torx Screwdriver

Figure 1
You will now be able to use your fingers and pry tool as necessary to remove the motherboard. Use your open pry tool and your fingers as necessary and be careful as there are ribbon cables beneath the motherboard that you don’t want to rip or otherwise damage.
Use your hot air gun or hair dryer to heat up the phone and loosen the glue that holds the LCD screen and the touch screen digitizer in tact, and you can begin to use your pry tool along the seam to separate the two pieces. Figure 2 shows a demonstration of this.
Figure 2
As the two pieces separate, the ribbon flex cable will stay connected to the front touch screen. Gently work this ribbon through the opening on the LCD screen trying not to damage the cable.
If you are replacing the screen, gently lift tape at the bottom and work the pry tool around it carefully to remove the LCD screen completely, as shown in figure 3.
Figure 3
Now you will be able to replace any parts on your Motorola Photon. Simply replace the damaged parts with the new ones and reverse the order to put your phone back together again.
how to you put the screen back on do you need tape? will the adhesive from phone be enough for the new screen?
The adhesive strips we have on our website will be enough for your entire device.
1. Thanks!
2. Would you know of an lcd that could be substituted for the OEM part to upgrade from penile? The Photon Q lcd is the same size and resolution, but has a different connector.

Help!
So, trying to help out a neighbor friend and I took apart the phone without ANY problem. I couldn't get the original LCD screen to light up again (figured I broke it prying it out) so I bought a new one on ebay. Now, that one won't work. Note: I notice there are a lot of contacts on the phone, and I'm testing it prior to putting all the screws back in and everything. Any idea what may be wrong. I know it didn't 'break' anything (other than possibly the LCD) taking it apart - it was quite easy. Let me know if anyone has a though of something I may be missing or what else I should attempt.! ...and soon!
Thanks

You can now use the pull tab to remove the battery from the device. It is held in place with adhesive, so it may take some force. We do not recommend using a pry tool to remove the battery as it can damage the battery itself.
Using a safe open pry tool, remove the top cover around the camera as shown in green on Figure 1. This will expose a hidden screw.
Remove the eight (8) Torx T3 screws located in Figure 1.
Now, using a safe open pry tool, remove the back housing from the rest of the device.
There will now be three (3) more Torx 3 screws holding the metal frame in place, as shown in Figure 2 that will need to be removed.
Figure 2
Remove the heat shield, as shown in green on Figure 2, using a pry tool, as shown in Figure 2. This will expose three (3) pop connection that will need to be released.
The motherboard can now be removed from the device. Use a safe open pry tool to lift the motherboard away from the screen assembly. Note that there will be a large metal bar on the lower portion of the motherboard, be careful of this when removing the motherboard.
The screen assembly is now accessible. Use a hair dryer or heat gun on medium heat around the outside edges of the front touch screen. This will warm the adhesive and allow you to separate the LCD screen from the touch screen digitizer.
Use quick movements around the outside edges for 45-60 seconds. Use a safe open pry tool to carefully pry the touch screen away from the LCD screen. Reheat if necessary.
You can now replace either screen or other internal part.
Now you will be able to replace any parts on your Motorola Droid Razr. Simply replace the damaged parts with the new ones and reverse the order to put your phone back together again.

So the LCD is 'permanently' glued to the screen, rather than being held in by tabs and screws as in the Incredible? That sucks...
Hopefully someone will start selling the entire front bezel+digitizer assembly.

It's just a bit of adhesive. They are not "permanently' glued / fused together. They can be easily separated.

I think the hardest part is unlatching the ribbon. I tried to repair a broken screen in my previous INC and ended causing permanent damage on the ribbon.
Nice guide. My bezel is messed up and I was wondering if you guys will be stocking them any time in the future? If so when?

Thank you for the positive feedback! We do not have the part in stock right now but we are always adding new stock. Feel free to check back on our site to see if we have the part available.
Thanks for posting this. I just dropped my phone and 1/4 of my lcd screen is out or stuck pixels. I just purchased from your store what I think i need to repair it. This will be my first time dissecting and repairing a phone and these kind of posts make all the difference.
Thank you very much and good luck with the repair! Let us know how it goes!
well......i replaced the screen. Not thinking that I got this from a warranty claim it had some more adhesive that was not on the video. I got the screen in and it looks great...but....I messed up the touchscreen. It randomly hits and also doesn't register other times....fail. So either ordering the digitizer and hope not to f up. Or try to sell this for someone who knows what they are doing and buy something else. Any advice?
for when you get it to come back on

Sounds like the touch screen maybe making contact with the LCD and this is why you are getting the issue.
Make sure you used the correct thickness adhesive between the LCD and digitizer to prevent this problem. This is shown in our repair video provided with the part.
Use our contact us form on the web site and we can assist you further if you have more questions.
