Is the official Galaxy S2 ICS update out yet? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to update - but only to the official one on a unrooted phone.

For some yes for others no .
Usual method connect to Kies check firmware .
Other method is to join XDA developers forum and flash a stock or custom ICS .

You can try Wanam's stock roms

1: check and make sure you have i9100 and not i9100G or other varient.
2: use odin and flash the one you want, or one for your region. ICS for europe / asia is out official, rest can flash there too but not from kies.
using odin is as official as kies and you dont need root nor you have to after that.

he is unrooted plus he want stock + official.
custom ROM nomatter how stock is still custom.

It will depend on what network your on and what country you live in it should be available to most at this stage. I am on 3 NETWORK in Ireland and was available when released but I Did not upgrade I use resurrection remix instead find it a lot better than the stock ROM that comes with the phone.

The phone is unlocked. Does it need to be updated with Kies or going to 'about phone' will be sufficient as it is on the HTC?

If you only want the stock kernel then you will need to give us the original firmware you have on your phone.
unable to locate stock rom
I have recently purchased an sgs2 (actually came to my senses and swapped it for a blackberry) and have been scouring the forum for information on how to restore the rom to stock so I have a base to start from. I am new to Android so excuse my ignorance on this. If I do a *#1234# I get the following:
PDA: I9100XXKI3
PHONE: I9100XXKI3
CSC: I910OXAKI3
Build Info: Thu Sep 15 13:53:07 KST 2011
I am based in South Africa and can use the phone as normal but it does currently seem to be a bit unstable and the Market Place crashes fairly regularly on the phone. My carrier is Vodacom South Africa and from research the ROM I have on the phone is a generic for Europe (not sure if this is relevant).
In Kies, there is a message that says updates cannot be done using KIES.
I have tried download the stock ROM from the links on the forum but multiupload.com seems to be down or has very high congestion.
HELP PLEASE!!!

The real question I have is which is the correct ROM to download? There is such a lot of information that I am totally confused now.
On all the posts I've seen so far the one to download for South Africa could be many different versions. What is the relevance of this information?
XWKI4
Firmware info
PDA:XWKI4
PHONE: XXKI1
Date: 14/09/2011
Android 2.3.4
What information do I use to determine the correct version of file to download. I am completely confused by the mass of information available, especially considering my phone is currently running what I assume to be XXKI3 which is non south african.
Could it be that my phone was originally purchased in Europe? If thisd is so should I be installing a version of ROM for that region or will any region do?
Bazilla said:

Who knows ???
CSC: I910OXAKI3 but that reads as Polish CSC from memory .
Its normal to download the firmware for the location the phone is being used in .
Its also usual to download the latest version .
Its the CSC that gives local network details and the baseband /modem that may be changed if poor reception .
XILA2
Android 2.3.6
This package has: PDA: XILA2| Modem/phone: XXKL1| CSC: XEUKH2
Latest posted for the UK .
I would flash that enter network settings if needed manually .
CSC or modem can be changed later .
Note multiupload is closed down for good you will need a Google search or Sammobile .com for firmware .

Stock S2 Rom for ICS update

Hi!
I currently have my s2 rooted and on CM9. My phone is/was the european version GT I9100. I know that region is getting the ICS update on 3/10. Can some one direct me to copies of a stock rom that will be receiving the update?
Thanks in advance!
Since you have already flsahed your phone with CM9 why not just flash the official ICS when it comes out?

If unofficial or customized firmware is installed in the mobile, unexpected problem can happen during upgrading"
Thats why I want to go back to stock.
They don't expect you to flash the firmware via CWM or Odin. I don't think it will be necessary to flash a stock rom first

wouldn't it be best to wait before flashing the official one through kies mate. cause you are only going to after a few days when all the custom official ones be released going to root your phone again. i was thinking the same but i am going to hold off for a while
Good luck getting official firmware updates via Kies if you're running non-stock firmware

Still my Samsung S2 is not recognized by Kies.
Kindly help.

I can think of 2 possibilities why it might not work.
-wrong CSC: find your country's CSC and change yours to match. Here and Here
your ROM must have your CSC or a Multi-CSC where your CSC is included.
-"Zombie"-ROM: A ROM patched together from different originals, e.g. a good stock kernel from one ROM with a good modem from another ROM. This shouldn't be, because you took an original from intratech's Thread. But if you want, you can also try this.
I hope this helps.
If I am Orange UK stock do I just find the UK Stock XEU and put it on?

At the moment I have
PDA: I9100BVKJ4
CSC I9100ORAKJ4
Would
I9100XWKE1
MULTIXEUKD1
Work ok?
It looks like you already have an ORANGE-ROM. what exactly are you trying to do? If you want to get rid of the orange branding, what you have there looks good.

Your device cannot be updated via Kies...

Ok so i'm on a UK Sim Free Samsung Galaxy S2 and was fed up with being stuck with the official 2.3.4 firmware so i manually flashed my firmware with Odin using the official ROM and all is running perfect but my baseband version has changed and firmware version to 'XXLPQ' and now Kies won't let me use it to do any other potential future updates?? Maybe because ICS isnt released officially on UK sim free??? Plz help! Thankssss!

I'll very appreciate it if you could explain what you said
I am not sufficiently familiar with all Android device and the world.
1. CF-Root
2. install and use triangle away
3. Go into CWM recovery and wipe data/cache
4. Download ICS firmware for your region with checkfus
5. Flash the firmware with odin
6. Make sure you have the right CSC to receive future OTA updates.

Updating to Official JB using ota/ Kies

Hi im from the UK and basically i couldnt wait for JB so i upgraded to the official test firmware using odin from here
http://www.sammobile.com/2012/11/15/i9100xxlsj-–-galaxy-s-ii-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-test-firmware/
What i want to know is when the official JB is released will i be able to update using Kies. Currently when i plug my phone into kies it says the current firmware version isnt supported for update.
How can i revert to make a ota/ kies update possible?

Just like you flashed the test JB firmware, you can download the stock ICS 4.0.3/4.0.4 firmware for your region, and flash it using Odin. That way, your phone can get the update via Kies.
Or better yet, when the update is released, you can download that firmware manually and flash using Odin!
