[Q] How to make adb find/recognize xperia mini? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi all
I am trying to make adb work for for a xperia mini, but it seems to not recognize/communicate with the phone. I first tried following this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11823740 with the xperia mini connected via USB. When executing ./adb devices it returns an empty list:
Code:
List of devices attached
If I follow the tutorial using my HTC desire instead it returns the wanted line:
Code:
List of devices attached
HT044PL12770 device
Any idea of what I can do to make adb work with the xperia mini?
Some system facts:
Labtop OS: Ubuntu 11.04
Xperia mini model: st15i
Android version: 2.3.4
System version number: 4.0.2.A.0.62
Thanks in advance
/Jesper

Make sure you have adb debugging enabled on the phone.

but off course, thanks

Did it work?
You will need drivers, if you don't have them yet. On windows, pc companion installs them, don't know about ubuntu.

[Q] Rooting under GNU/Linux

Hi folks,
is there a way to rooting an X10 mini pro under a GNU/Linux distro?
It's a waste installing Windows on VirtualBox to do that...
Thanks!

install wine (some type of emulator of win.)
them with wine open Super One Click and root
Link : http://www.winehq.org/
Just use zroot or super one click, there's no need of a specific OS
@PTGamer: i'd like to avoid any windows related stuff
@ernest-sora: i don't want that Mono brick in my applications ;-), isn't zroot an old method for rooting (e.g. for the first X10 mini pro smartphones)?
I was lokng for a shell-a-like method and if it doesn't exist, fair enough i should have it with a glass of Wine
Many thanks!
There is a post here from ShortFuse (dev of SoC) using mono. I tried it it in arch but it failed. I guess because drivers for my phone weren't installed.

Thanks for the hint but as i said before, i'm looking to an alternative that isn't Windows proned as o.s. virtualization or software like wine or Mono (which i still consider it in Windows domain due to .NET and C# ).
By the way i'm on Archlinux too ;-)
use "1 click root" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598 you install apk on your phone and press Root

Yeah I feel you. I've been searching to find some source code for SoC to see how it works but to no avail... Mono might be a little lighter since with wine you get to download all this bin32 dependencies...

@Markolic: I'm not sure it works with latest SE udpated.
@kissmyarch: looking at what SuperOnClick does, it seems nothing more than a simple shell script could do (if it runs when the phone is in debug mode, it has to do nothing more that we do with adb or similar tool in a shell).
Hey ff0000.it! I found a nice article about the attacks used to gain root
One method is psneuter and another one is rageagainstthecage. For further digging

Glad it worked fine for you - was getting a little worried, 1700 downloads and no replies

Actually, with the latest SEUS you also have adb driver too.
In 2.11.7.3? I had a look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\setup\drivers and none seem to be the right one?

when you connect your x10 windows will not install all drivers.
afted downloading the drivers, open the zip and drag out the folder inside
now right click on "my computer" then go to devices and right click on the one with the exclamation mark, then choose to manually install the drivers and from the window which will open find the extracted folder and click "ok"
wait for the installation and you are done!

Rooting Xperia Ray the easy way ?

Is it possible to Root Xperia Ray (like x8 with one click) or not ? and if not Plz provide a link to Xperia ray root guide ONLY....
I wouldn't want to unlock my bootloader if possible, as it's too complicated I think..
Should I upgrade to ICS before rooting or not ?
One More question : Does Ray Support moving applications to SD card ? or do I need to install Link2SD and partition my SD Card ?
Thanks waiting for answers...

There are only the applications, which you have permanently given or denied root access.

Thanks a lot Someguyfromhell, i know that some of my questions are a little bit stupid for you
but im new on these, and im trying to get it because of my brand new xperia ray.
And i have 1 more question, in your tutorial is written that after the rooting progress with the zergRush method, the BusyBox will be installed, but
it is not installed the BusyBox app, do i have to install it by myself from Playstore or i dont need this app at all? Also the superuser app is installed
in my phone.

BusyBox is not an application, so you do not see it in app drawer. You don't need to do anything more, unless you want to update Busybox, but this isn't really needed either.

USB OTG Solution for all 2011 XPERIA Devices

This is a solution for all 2011 xperia phones.First you must root your device correctly.after that you need to download and install the app from the link below.that's all.Now connect your usb storage device by using otg cable.App will automatically mount your usb device to folder called "USB Storage" in your SD card root. This app also supports USB hard drives too.But keep on your mind to supply external power to your hard drive.I have tested this with many 2011 xperia phones with rooted stock firmware and it worked just soo fine.it also work with new ics update too.but you need have root access with it too.
This app is called USB Storage Manager for ARC but it works fine with other 2011 xperia devices too.Q5 manager is a another app gives usb otg support, but it is not working with some devices sometimes. It also cant automatically mount your usb device.Because this app is better than it.
"This app is paid app and it is just created for xperia arc.because i have created this apk,why you cant use play store to bye it for other devices. This link for just trying this and this is not for illegal use.If this thing is useful just dont forget to bye it and support developer."(using play store from your PC)
