I don't think there is a definite answer. It's a tough phone to develop for, in terms of closed source system files.
Because buying a Sense based phone just to remove it and replace with the non unique AOSP style makes Jesus cry.

Annoyingly true. I always thought it was harder to dev CDMA too

There are more Sense based phones than there are 4.X based ones. That would make AOSP the unique one

True there is more gingerbread sense devices than ICS AOSP devices, but that's not what he asked, he simply said cyanogenmod, which counting gb roms has a ludicrous amount available, all using plain boring AOSP styling. This is fine if you have a Nexus or one of those myriad of phones using a plain base with a souped up launcher *coughlgandsamsungcough*, but going out of your way to buy a Sense phone just to strip everything that makes it unique (as well as disabling the camera) is crazy.

I am sure I read that replacing the launcher on HTCs ICS Roms with Sense is easy...
so if you want AOSP style you can probably get the full HTC ICS with Sense and then fire up the AOSP launcher and maybe even keep some of the camera in tact?
just a thought
actually : you could just install APEX or NOVA launcher I bet

Yes you could easily do that, and that would make more sense than just porting an AOSP (or worse, a kang project) when it achieves nothing other than making the camera break!

can anyone who have htc sense backup it with titanium backup and upload it for me?
but the mikevh ported sense but there are many bugs
maybe you can port sense or base on xWildfirePro by him
Maybe make our port x8 build...they have rooms of a combination of°c and htc sense, and their source is from htc legend...so if you want sense 3.0 lock screen, scrap it from htc salsa...its nearly the same as the legend

Warm TwoPointThree does.
Basically any ROM based on the old OTA will have a working camera. All Sense 3.0 based ROMs will have working 4G. So get a 3.0 based ROM based on old OTA and it all works.
Warm TwoPointThree (3.0) revision 547 has everything you want.
Also Eternity r74
He said non sense roms.
Cyanogenmod7 (Android 2.3) Has functional but no 4G. Search for cyanogenmod in the dev section.
If you check the second post of the Android Revolution thread, he has a sense less rom.

No.
Those "Senseless" ROMs are still Sense based ROMs, they just have most of the HTC Sense UI and features removed. It is still a larger ROM size and less efficient on memory than a real AOSP ROM. But you lose 4G on any AOSP for this phone.

Yes.
Work in progress doesn't mean he'll actually get it working though. It means that he's trying. Its not "in progress" its him attempting to fix it. "In progress" implies the fix is known and just needs to be implemented.

I've tried quite a few and recently just came back to sense so i could tether 4G while I'm at school. WiFi in the classroom I'm in is terrible. It's just so depressing knowing I'm stuck with this if I want a fully functional phone
I'm hoping cm9 pulls through and gets stuff right. If I'm correct though it would take a super dev to get 4G working on the shooter right?

Maybe this is a dumb noob question, but what is it about 4G and camera that make them so much more difficult to get working? I was not able to dig up an answer to this with a forum search.

It's basically a driver issue. The drivers for these are closed-source, so a ROM built from AOSP doesn't include them. IIRC, they are trying to reverse-engineer the code ATM.
My English is not good enough to explain the problem, please help look at the attached screenshot, which was captured when I pressed the menu button.

Or the keyboard doesn't display correctly like following. The problem is more likely with Swype keyboard and less with the stock one.
I got the problem with both ROM's I tried - Anryl and Mwakious's. While I've never experienced with my Huawei U8800.

This seems to just be a issue with chrome itself. I have problems on my 3d and my epic. Always glitching, especially with the keyboard. Infuriating when I'm trying to get into my bank account and the damn keyboard disappears while typing

I have exteme problems with chrome, too.
My preferred browser is Opera now.
I do not under stand how google thinks Chrome for android is good enough to be out of beta while they admit that it has issue with certain display drivers. Mostly but not limited to HTC devices. Its also not just sense rooms. Every ice device I own has the same exact issues. A Acer Iconia A500 stock and non stock rooms. My MyTouch 4g with both CM 9 and Miui rooms. And now my new Evo V virgin mobile with stock and rooted roms. Everyone of these devices have the exact same issue. 3 different processors.
Does this even when not rooted.

Dude its easy to code for iPhone as it has only few devices where Android has hundreds of different devices.
But give them some time because im sure Google Chrome will be a big success on Android too.

All Sense 3.5+ Phones.
It happened to me on a Sense 4.0 ROM too.
The browser just isn't fully compatible with Sense yet.
I'm sure Google will fix it, but their main focus right now is to get it working on the Nexus products, not Sense.
...of 4.7" and larger phones. Sure, it made sense back when the Nexus One was a 3.7" device, but with phones like the One X+ being mainstream now, why hasn't Google inched it up to 5x4?
And on that note, I ask... is there any way to mod the One X+ to have a 5x4 homescreen without a new launcher from the Play Store? I don't have a problem with Sense, I just can't stand how ridiculous a 4x4 homescreen looks on phones this large.

I so totally agree. I don't know what they are thinking at HTC. To make matters worse, even the new Droid DNA with 1080p screen is 4 x 4. Insanity.
Solution is to run an alternate launcher. I use Nova. Downside is you lose Sense widgets. I have to run the Gapps Email instead of Sense Mail to get an email widget for Nova. Not the end of the world...
I once fixed the Rosie when I had inspire. I'll check if I can mod the Rosie.

Give ADW launcher a try. More customization then you can shake a stick at.
In the mean time use Nova Launcher or Apex
I agree that alternative launchers are a great option, personally I love Nova, but many people prefer to stick with the stock sense launcher so that they can utilize all of the built-in sense widgets.
