What is the best File manager and backup&restore applications for my SONY S officail firmware locke NOT ROOTED?
File Manager : Root Explorer.. If you are rooted. If you arent rooted use file manager/ Explorer
BackUp + Restore : Titanium backup for sure. Use Batch to backup all your own apps. should be easy to find in titanium backup . Menu -> batch and backup current apps. it will save all your info within the apps. to restore them scroll down and then restore apps.
+1 for the above recommendation.
Feel free to pop by the dedicated Xperia S forum where this, and many other questions are answered.

Hey everyone, i'm currently using a xperia x10i - 2.3.3 - rooted.
I looked around alot and I couldn't find the steps to un-installing applications that came with the phone.
Some Applications that came with my phone include: Hami, Hami Apps, HamiBook, KKBOX and a whole lot of other asian applications (I got my phone from eBay). I don't use any of these applications and they are apps that arent supposed to come with the phone (like messaging etc.)
Anyways I can't uninstall them normally but i really want them gone, my device is rooted and I heard it's possible to remove them. Can someone please help and tell me how to do so?
Thanks!
use the titanium backup apk. Go to the backup and restore in titanium backup and search for the application for delete. click on that and select uninstall! Hope i helped you
Or, mount file system as r/w, and mavigate to /system/apps. Delete the .apk's from there.
Titanium Backup ★ root but also ASTRO File Manager
Titanium Backup ★ root but also ASTRO File Manager.
Titanium Backup to uninstall the apps and future backup an app management .
ASTRO File Manager (for file an Phone management) To find all the data that the apps left behind if you don't delete the data an backups then when you login to the market they could say installed, besides you do not know if they are spammer apps or what. I would just delete them all an data too with out backing them up. And then do a Titanium Backup. Or just do a Sony repair or better yet do a factory reset an do a Sony repair then flash a stock/generic 2.3.3 for your region. Just to be sure that way you know what you have. And here are some links too do all that just read and watch the videos and it's easy too do, The first one is the easiest but you can look at them all to be the judge.

But the problem is he got the phone off EBAY and most sms/mms have access to all the phone accounts so I think the best thing to do is WIPE ALL reflash/reroot because the phone is rooted and you don't know where/who the phone really came from or who made the apps. Just to be sure i think that would be a good thing to do don't you, I mean if I/you got a hard drive or sold one you/I would wipe it, The phone is the same thing it's just a different type of computer/hard drive.
I have root access now by using Gingerbreak installed on my optimus sd card so now I need to find the correct procedure to removing them from my command prompt on my computer. What are the steps and then what are the commands to remove apps from my Optimus V ?
thanks in advance
I have found a more automatic way of removing the bloatware. I downloaded root explorer and moved the app files from within the system->app to my sdcard. That way if I ever want to I can move them back.
The guy above me is correct as well but E.S file explorer is a free app with no ads and does everything as root explorer and looks better while doing it.
Click menu enable root settings/mount then long click the app you want to delete
I prefer not to delete but simply "move" to sdcard so that I can bring it back if need be.
or you can use titanium backup
Before you move anything make sure they're safe to remove, as in won't affect other apps. Having a backup won't hurt too. Many apps can uninstall system apps, among them Titanium Backup, Gemini App Manager, Link2SD or file managers with root access such as Root Explorer($), Ghost Commander, ES File Explorer and File Expert.
A safer way is to freeze the bloatware using Titanium Backup Pro($) or Gemini App Manager rather than deleting. You aren't likely to be using the space in system memory anyway.
I like using the Harmonia ROM, but I have an S Screen, so I also use the Xionia Anykernel 14 with a button switcher, so it functions GREAT so far, and none of those crappy preloaded bloatware apps, but if I ever need to get back to the original OS, I can nandroid restore my backups of my old system.
My Xperia Neo always gets very low RAM and forces some apps to close.
I found that there are many pre-installed apps on my phone and they couldn't be killed by Task killer.
I am wondering what Apps and how can be killed/uninstalled without affecting the operation of the system?
P.S. I am using 2.3.4 and my phone is rooted.

Root explorer and navigate System/app folder. There is installed all you system and preinstalled apps. For uninstalling simply delete those app what you dont want. But be careful and easyest way is 1st option backup those apps.
List apps what you can delete you find in Arc or Neo forum stickies.

Oh, i have been searching through the "Xperia Neo General", "Xperia Neo Themes and Apps" and "Xperia Neo Android Development" but I couldn't find the thread that lists out the unnecessary apps.....
Or it should be found in another forum??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470
Have a look at that. If you're unsure about some of it use titanium backup freeze function instead. That's what I did (after backing up the whole thing with cwm, I like to be extra careful for whatever reason ).
Not sure if I used that thread myself but it looks very familiar.

Then I will have a complete program backup before doing that....
Still a question.
Just in case it results in a system crash due to deleting wrong system programs, how to recover those program from the backup?
Depends on how you made the backup. You can make a nandroid backup in recovery, which can be restored even if a lot of things go wrong, or you can backup apps in titanium backup.
I recommend you to backup with CWM Recovery before you start delete some system applications
I've created a backup called "app +data (easy import)".
Now I can't find any option to restore an app from this backup.
Not from dropbox nor from a titanium backup folder.
Titanium does not see this file and says there is no backup for that app.
So how to restore an app from this kind of backup??
Try clicking on the backup file either in Dropbox or the local file system and running it. Titanium Backup will then ask if you want to restore the app and or data. I know I saved my backup in Gmail, and after downloading, I just press view in Gmail itself and TiBackup will show that dialog.

it was enough to update to the nevest verssion.
Now I have a bigger problem.
It does not restore any data of system apps.
Not Go Launcher, nor Go sms, or rom settings are being restored.
I've tried to flash the rom again an then restore - no result.
How to force titanium to restore system apps data?
ps. I was able to do it before. It's just stopped working.
Hi I am having similar problems, backed up using easy backup apk & data, sent via gmail to my other phone with Titanium backup on it, when I open it TB recognises it and says please wait, but nothing happens the app does not install. It is only a widget that I want installed but its not having it :crying:
Also I have a tf101 which is not rooted is there anyway I can unzip without TB to use this free widget as its not on the general market, I have a paid version of TB and using the latest release, but obviously not on the tf101.
Any help appreciated as it is frustrating I cannot save apks to other phones.
Thanks

I never found the correct answer to this question, which - from my experience - is a rather improbable one. This is the answer:
Find your TiBkp file with some kind of file explorer. In my case: I used "root explorer", probably any other one will do as well. Tap on it.
You will see: "No activity found to open this file."
Your options are
a) cancel
b) open as.
Choose "open as".
Now you get a lot of options (I see seven). One of them is: APK file. Choose it.
Now you may select an "option for null" (probably the null refers to the unknown file extension TiBkp) .
The options are: cancel, view and Install.
Choose install.
Now you get the option from Titanium backup to restore your files. And that works perfectly.....
Cheers :victory:
Hello, i Know this thread is old, but i seem to have run into the same problem. My tibkp file is grayed out and i can't access it. and when i navigate to it and try to open it, it won't give an option to open it with Titanium. Help please. Thank you
PS I have a rooted S7 Edge. Thank you
Hm.. I'm having a similar issue: I can't import .TiBKP files anymore; two devices, S6 Edge running SuperSU-rooted nougat, and Tab S2 running magiskSU-rooted nougat (in both cases the nougat itself is from samsung)
Hello im having troubles backing up an app.
Whenever i back up i get three files (.apk .tar and one PROPERTIES) instead of the .TiBkp. I cant restore said files.
Help please.
New phone, Old problem. Trying to use .TiBKP files to migrate apps&settings from my old phone to my new one, rather than just simply copy everything using smart switch, but opening them in Titanium Backup is NOT an option for .TiBKP files.
Any hints?
