[Q] phone-bricker recovery problems - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hi all I searched but it doesn't seem like anyone has had my problem.
I installed phone-bricker rom from v1.0 then updated to 2.0.1 now when I want to update to 2.1 I cant get into recovery to flash from zip. Its had some issues since v1.0 like it would only go into recovery if I used rom manager to get it to reboot to recovery same for 2.0.1. now when I try to manually get it to boot into recovery the menu options don't work i hit the home button to select but the screen flashes and then I'm still in the same menu, and trying from rom manager to reboot to recovery is a no-go I see the android and the loading bar it goes about an 1/8th of the way then it restarts and boot up normally. Any help would be welcome, I at least need to be able to do something on recovery either flash new version or restore back to GB from my backup. Thanks in advance.

lol
mod please lock thread I solved this I have been stupid the power button is the select on the included entropy driver.

[Q] Help Installing 1.9

Hello, I need some help trying to install the 1.9 ROM. I just purchased a Dell streak coming from an Iphone. Because of a deteriorating eye condition the big screen is a blessing. I bought it used on ebay. It originally had stock 1.6 which i upgraded to stock 2.2 (340) by downloading and running the pkg file. It was very easy to do. Im an att customer this is the relevant information regarding my version of 2.2 .
Version 2.2
Baseband GAUSB1A134031-US
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Build 14844
I have read through these forums extensively particularly the "how to" forums for days. After reading all the various variations for upgrading the rom (my phone lags and i want to see if the rom upgrade will fix this) I developed what I though was the proper procedure for installing 1.9. These are the steps i followed:
1. Install Android Drivers
2. Enter Fastboot mode
3. Installed Clockword Mod Recvery
4. Loaded the install txt file and 1.9 zip file on root of sd card.
5. Flashed the Clockword Mode Recovery IMG using fastboot. Fastboot said recovery was "done"
6. Rebooted.
7. Went into recovery mode by pressing Volume UP and Down and power button
8. Chose option 2 upgrade from SD card.
now its my understanding that doing so was supposed to take me to the clockmod recovery screen which would then give me the option of upgrading from the zip file. Instead I get a message in light blue which says in part
"Android System recovery utility GAUSb1a134031
To perform emergency software recovery you will need to insert SD card"
I then pull the battery and reboot and it boots up fine into the stock 2.2.
Now the question is what am i doing wrong. Im thinking that maybe its the baseband? and that I need to flash a new baseband. If anyone can help it with some guidance it would be much appreciated.
3.
Once you flash Clockwork you cannot let it boot. The OS will over-rite Clockwork. As soon as you flash Clockwork, hold both volume buttons down while it is rebooting. Selet option 2 and you should get the Clockwork menu.
Thank you i will give that a try
Didnt work. I do the fastboot recovery flash which it indicates is done. I then give the flashboot reboot command As soon as it starts rebooting i hit the volume up and down and power buttons but it still reboots into stock 2.2. I don't even get the recovery screen
Fuigured it out i only needed tto hold the volume buttons. Now im there thanks again
Hmm, you should be getting a recovery menu either way. The only thing I can think of is to try and hold both volume and power buttons down at the same time. This is how I normally access the recovery menu when not flashing the reboot comand. If thats not it, may be an issue with the recovery image. Have you considered StreakMod Recovery?

[Q] Ugh, can't get out of recovery 3e now...

I feel like such a n00b but I've literally flashed dozens of ROM's between my Captivate and my Infuse.
Thanks for Entropy, I have my modem back so I can make calls (thank you!).
Now I'm trying to get back into CWM but everytime I flash it in Rom Manager...then reboot into recovery I get this error..
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
And that's in 3e...it won't boot into CWM.
I tried rerooting and using the SGH-I777_ClockwordMod-Reovery_5.0.2.3.tar in Odin...when I reboot in recovery...it freezes up...
Any suggestions?
Hmm that one is odd.
Until further notice - don't use ROM Manager on our device. Kernel-included CWM is the way to go. My guess is that somehow ROM manager dorked up your system partition. You may need to Odin/Heimdall back to stock, then flash codeworkx's CWM kernel, although I'm surprised you weren't able to enter CWM after flashing codeworkx's kernel...
Edit: When you say it "freezes up" - do you mean stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S II screen, or does CWM come up?
If I flash back to stock and try to get into recovery...I get stuck at the above mentioned screen.
If I Odin the CWM 5.0.2.3 package and try to get into recovery...I get into the light blue recovery screen but every option I click on just brings me to the Rom Manager Hat Icon and does nothing (even though I don't have Rom Manager installed anymore). I get stuck in that menu...pull the battery...reboot...still in light blue CWM menu but every option just brings up the Rom Manager Icon.
Only way to "fix" is to get back into download mode, odin back to stock or re-odin the CWM 5.0.2.3 tar again. But, again, if I try to get into recovery from stock...3e recovery (ie useless) if I Odin back to CWM.tar...I get stuck in Rom Manager Icon hell.

Furthermore, the first day I had the phone, I used Rom Manager to install MUIU and it worked fine! Except I had the wrong modem (which I just found out today). I thought MIUI screwed up my phone (because I was unable to make calls) so I then flashed back to stock. Luckily someone posted the stock modem up and I installed that...phone works fine.
I'd like to get MIUI on again because it was smooth as butter and all I did is download the Rom Manager version...i Know it's not supposed to work but it did.

Might be because the buttons aren't the same as they are on the Captivate and each time you hit power or menu (which used to be select on the Captivate) it kinda blanks out the menu until you press it again. Use the volume keys to move up and down, home button to select, and back button to go back.
whoa, I'm retarded...that worked...thanks!
Yeah I was losing my mind too when I was first trying to flash Cognition. Just started mashing buttons and got lucky

I9100 roms will work to an extent, but like you noticed there roms do not support our modems or capacitive keys. Could be other things that are unsupported as well.

This is correct - it's why you see a bunch of posts between myself, codeworkx, and atinm in the CWM thread.
The current behavior is a bit odd, but it is usable, it's just not documented properly right now.
I have a similar problem, I've found that whenever I get that message, and none of the options on cwm work I pull the battery and turn it back on and the install resumes. Not sure why it hangs up like that but its led to a few tense moments already

Can't Use Recovery

I tried to flash CM7 last night but it didn't work so I flashed back to to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313659.
Now when I'm in Recovery mode on my Samsung Galaxy S II a logo of a Black Hat appears when I click on any choice in the Recovery screen and I have to pull the battery to restart the phone. I've tried everything, I think.
Since my phone is almost brand new and everything is backed up, I think, I would like to just wipe the phone clean and reload with the original stock AT&T software or image.
Anyone know how to do this?
BTW.... I think this may have been caused by the fact I tried to use ROM Manager to flash CM7 and on one post it said in big letters NOT to use ROM Manager.
Any/all help is greatly appreciated.
What button are you using to select stuff in CWM?
Have you tried to home button, the power button isn't used in this version
If you have ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.3 in your kernel, you have to use the "home" soft key to select. The power button will only toggle between menu and logo.
To flash back to stock, use one of the one click downloader packages you can find here. You can choose between straight stock, and stock plus root.

CWM Recovery Touch + Installing ROMs

Hi,
I finally unlocked the BL on my Atrix (4.5.91 from AT&T)
I downloaded ROM Manager and installed CWM Recovery. I managed to boot into recovery from ROM Manager once but now it's not working.
I get the Motorola Logo and then it switches to the android logo with an exclamation mark
I was thinking of flashing the touch recovery, found information here:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-clockworkmod-recovery-touch-on-motorola-atrix-4g-how-to/
Is there a newer version? Are these instructions accurate? Do I need to be in fastboot to do this?
Also, I never flashed a ROM before
I really need a clear NOOB guide for doing this and would appreciate recommendations for ROM (if possible, ones that have Hebrew)
Thanks!!!
before you start digging an even bigger hole... STOP
you've already installed cwm so I don't know why you would need to install another version? Right now you need to get your phone up and running again.
Try these steps... power up phone holding the volume down button to get into recovery. Did that work? If so you should see the recovery menu - select data/facory reset and press power to select and then try and reboot system... does that work?
If not I think you'll need to flash the sbf file using rsd lite. Instructions are easy to find on here. Good luck.
I think I didn't explain myself properly.
The phone works 100%, I simply cannot boot into CWM recovery
when I power up holding the volume down button I get to what I think is the phone's default recovery. I get Fastboot as the first option and I can browse through with the volume down button
Anyways, what I would like to learn how to do is safely flash CWM Recover Touch (just because it's easier to use) and Flash ROMs
Thanks!!
Insure that rom manager is up to date, then reflash cwm recovery & try booting into recovery again.

OK, I re-flashed CWM recovery and it's working now
Before I proceed, I would like to backup my current AT&T ROM.
1) do I do this through th Backup and Restore in the recovery?
2) is this called NANDROID backup?
3) is it safe to restore from it?
I created a backup and again it does not boot into recovery. same issue
Will I always need to reflash it after each time?
OK, it only boots into recovery once after I flash it. Even if I don't do anything
ROM Manager is the most recent version (5.0.0.7)
Recovery is the most recent version according to ROM Manager (5.0.2.0)
Anyone? please help

Flash the recovery through ROM Manager one more time, boot to recovery, and flash the latest version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1475444
See if that one stays working.

[Q] Custom Recovery problem (Rom manager-cwm)

im on stock root and i wanted to hopefully flash a rom, but first i needed a custom recovery. On my phone, i downloaded Rom manager and it asked me to install cwm. it found my device and it downloaded and said installed successfully. i rebooted into recovery and from there it loops and boots into recovery non stop. i remove the battery and put it back in and it still tries to boot into recovery with the loop. (Semi-fix) when i remove my battery and boot into download mode. i can cancel it and it will skip trying to boot into recovery and load just fine. i can then shut down or restart as needed. but booting back into recovery will start the issue over again. i just want to know a safe way to have cwm on my note 3, or how to revert it back to normal. any help please?

Pull battery let it sit for two minutes. Push menu button, volume down button, and power button at the same time boot into download mode. once there flash a fresh copy of your OS which ever version of KitKat your running. You lose all your personal data, but your beyond that now. Then here is link to my thread should answer all your questions http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/samsung-note-3-rom-flashin-basics-t2896440 enjoy !!!

Yeah ive said it a few times this should not be used
If youve bricked your phone you can get back into your phone by holding volume down menu botton and power botton at the same time when it pops up the warning screen to enter download mode hit cancel your phone will then boot up after your phone is on if you do not have a computer the way you fix the phone so you dont have to do this every time your phone is off you need mobile odin and a kitkat cwm.img.tar for our phone flash it and problem solved you can now boot into cwm recovery then if you want you can flash a twrp img zip through cwm or just keep cwm hope this helps
Ps if you Google mobile odin the dev gives it away on his xda mobile odin page

First, pull the battery for a minute then reinstall hold the power, menu, and volume down buttons at the same time and boot into download mode. The version of Phil'z CWM you flashed is to old for 4.4.4 NK4. Now download to your desktop the right Philz CWM recovery file (Phil'z_Touch_6.48.4-hlte.tar.md5 ) here is the link https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/hlte/ there are two listed use the second one. Flash with odin and you should be good to go. Go to my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/samsung-note-3-rom-flashin-basics-t2896440 for more info.
done exactly as you said and the same screen came up saying recovery is not seandroid enforcing and then it jumps to Philz Touch 6 so im assuming everything is right now...i really appreciate the help! tyvm
different rom
ok..i installed cyanogen rom..i also used titanium backup..i want to go back to where i was but i dont see titanium backup on there anymore..how do i revert back?
i guess i need to update my phone n900p (help)
