Should I get rid of saurom - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I'm currently on rc4a because I was getting better speeds on t-mobile than on rcv. But I currently don't really see any utility in it. But I'm not sure how to go back to stock Rom? I mean I have a nandroid backup from when I first rooted which would take me back to stock. But I thought there was another way to get it just so I know for future reference.
Also is there a way i can get the overclock kernel on the stock Rom. Do I even need it because I have set cpu?
The one thing I did like from saurom rom is that it did remove the bloatware. Is there a better way i can do it or should I just remove or freeze it from titanium backup?
Will bln still work? I also still want my blaze modem but figure all I have to do is reflash it? Right?
I just think stock Rom is better for me since newer versions of saurom give me slower speed. Stock Rom won't be laggy will it?
Thanks in advance I know this is a lot of questions to answer. Really appreciate the xda and android community.

i cant answer all your questions. but have you tried flashing the collective the unofficial rom? i loved it. but i just put ICS on my phone. and dagr8 is creating a rom for that right now. its mostly all stock. just rooted so you have more access

No i havent flashed the unofficial..i didnt really like the look of it... How did you put ics on it? It isnt released yet, I'm assuming you put a ics theme or likewise? What rom are you talking about, is it made from one of the leaks? I would love to have a mainly stock vanilla ics rom!

Nvm i found it. This was such a suprise and here i was about to head off to bed. lol this sounds neat but i think ill wait a few days and see the reviews.

Yeah im sure if you wait a week or something there will be a new.awesome Rom for ics.

Best GB rom?

Can someone tell me the best GB rom out there and how to root it and stuff? Sorry I'm such a noob at this. I only have experience in jailbreaking lol
The best GB rom is the one that your phone responds to the best. Try em all once you get root. Theres a ton of tutorials on rooting. Read in the Development section for which way you feel comfy doing. There are one click rooters and then you can do it manually.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081930 Start here.
^^ good list of choices for roms/kernels/radios but if you're not even rooted yet, you will definitely need to check the Ref/Guide page out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013013
Here is how to root, just follow along and everything will work perfectly. If you have problems hit up IRC or check out a couple video's on youtube to help you along.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996616
As for the best rom, it is best for you to check them out, download a couple that look interesting to you (be sure to read on how to flash a rom/radio/kernel) and then try each one out for a couple days and see which one you like best.
Thank you all very much. Would you guys suggest rooting my TB even with this new OTA update?

I have rooted and un-rooted a couple of times and have found it best to be rooted. so much more freedom. I have my doubts about how much good the OTA updates actually do. A couple of patches/fixes and it will still be buggy. just my two cents...
bamf 2.1 hands down.

definitely root!
I've tried a bunch of the roms. The bamf 3 rc4 was my favorite for the first few days. It was very fast and I really liked some of the unique things they did.
I'm using Gingertheory now. It's similar to the bamf, but it even has more loaded in things so you can mod the layout real easy. I finally feel like I have a unique phone, and not just a rooted rom.
I loaded up about 10 roms in 2 days, so it doesn't take long once you figure it out.

Same with this guy. The Das Bamf 3.0 RC4 was awesome. little buggy, like i couldn't make phone calls to specific people, but others i could. Gingertheory = complete awesomeness. and it is crazy fast too.
Current rom: Gingertheory 4.5.1 soon 5.0
Try 'em all.
Just make sure to do a nandroid backup (through clockwork recovery mode) after any ROM you like.
And...
Do not use ROM Manager or Kernal Manager to flash anything.
Use Clockwork recovery....most developers will tell you the same.

[Q] Brand new 2.2 Froyo - best way to update to Gingerbread?

I'm asking this because i don't want to OTA update and find out i'm disadvantaged.
T-Mobile UK is my carrier.
AFAIK, i don't ever want to come back to Froyo, i want to stick to the latest stock and in the future, CM7 etc. Is it safe to just OTA it, and would i be disadvantaged in any way? What do you guys recommend me to do?

You can OTA with no problems. The only issue with OTA is that you can't flash back to Froyo.
If your not sure if you want stock GB, then browse through some of the GB threads. If you want a better idea of what Gingerbread will be like, check out the YouTube GB Atrix reviews.
Either way you can unlock your Bootloader on Froyo or GB. Whether you want stock Froyo or GB, well that's up to you...

Thanks matey. I don't see the need for Froyo tbh, but i thought i'd ask to be on the safe side! Stock GB would be nice, if i wanted more then there's always custom roms! Want to experience Android as close to its original version as possible (damn motoblur!) lol, thanks again!

No problem. BTW if you really want to move more away from Motoblur grab a launcher like LauncherPro, ADW, or Go.
Personally I like LP the best since its the smoothest IMO on the Atrix. The phone definitely feels more Vanilla using any of those than Motoblur that's for sure...

Found out the update message before was a false alarm, the 2.3.4 is coming in a few days to my carrier which i'm ok with. Got Launcher Pro from your recommendation, its bloomin' fast! Pinch to show all home screens is as smooth as it can be whereas on blur it lags! Btw i'm using the MIUI music player which is awesome, can i get a good gallery app like on gingerbread? this one sucks ass!

mrinehart93 version of CM7, a few questions (nooby)

Hey im considering flashing this as my first rom, but cant seem to find too definitely what does/doesn't work on this particular rom. Other than the list on the main post in dev section but i mean like bug wise is there anything major that has issues or isn't working at this moment? Other than the force close dialer(can you still make/receive calls??) is there any other things i should know before i flash this? Im currently stock rom/kernel just rooted. Just dont want to spend all the time flashing it and unlocking my bootloader to find out that the rom has serious issues that makes it unuseable for me. Im not too sure how you guys are about noobs/stupid questions posting in the dev section, so i just assumed that this is better suited for the Q&A. And correct me if im wrong, as im not quite positive, but i should be able to flash the cm7 rom and then the 1.3 OC kernel as well and have them both running? Is there one i need to flash before the other or how does that work?
This wouldnt be the rom to flash as it is still in alpha so it wont connect to any towers has bad battery life no dialer period. I would suggest flashing Jokers skinny rom for now its the most up to date and is running smooth for me
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
you can try alien rom .I had it running smoothly until i bricked my photon
I'm considering the homebase or alien, but they aren't running the latest OTA. What is the difference that the latest OTA did? i see no difference running stock rom.. And can anyone vouch to how the battery life is on roms as opposed to stock? Specifically one of the photon ones. Thanks for responses guys
The latest ota has many bug fixes and moto changed alot of their blur apps, which have made the phone faster. Homebase and alien are great but not up to date. I have a non stock rom called skinny which is made from the latest. In the end its up to you. My suggestion is to flash all three with no less than 24 hours on each to get a feel for it. Please keep in mind you wont be able to judge battery life this way

Go with Joker, that's just my two cents. Battery life is slight better from Joker to Home Base. Alien was okay, but Home Base had more tweaks then Alien. Then Joker has more stuff and is on the latest OTA from sprint, so that's what I'd personally suggest, plus it's the one I'm running.
I'm enjoying Joker's skinny Rom...it's current, and fast.

S-off and wanting to return to GB firmware?

has anyone done this yet? i want to stay on ICS, but ever since the ICS firmware that i got when it first leaked, the battery has gone to ****. i see some people getting crazy battery life still on GB firmware but running ICS roms, so i'm wondering, where can i go to get the GB firmware back? if i were to flash that RUU or whatever (with s-off), then restore my nandroid from right now, would that restore my ICS firmware, or would that be good?

as for your nandroid question i honestly have no clue. youd have to ask someone whos more familiar with recoveries and how nandroid works
thanks dude! so you're running ics right now, and on gb firmware? what kind of battery life are yo getting?

Personally, I did the same , but didn't notice appreciably better battery life. Then again, I never really complained to begin with. I recently did flash back to the newest ICS leak so I could quit having to flash patches . I only have 3g though, and use wifi at home so your use will definately vary than mine .

Well this week im trying out clean rom gb. Last few weeks I was on the pokemon rom.
I get an easy 14 hr day with 3-4 hrs screen time and close to 5 if I'm lucky.. But you gotta take into account a few things if you want this kind of life:
1. I have debloated and desensed very extremely
2. I don't EVER use task killers. More harm than good
3. On incredikernel and have uc/uv
4. I use watchdog and autostart manager to watch my cpu usage.
If I didn't do this stuff my screen time would only be around 3hrs which is still great but I just like to push it

wait, how do you use a custom kernel on ics??? I thought all we had was the stock kernels because we don't have the source?

There's a couple of custom kernels, but they're basically the same as stock with little tweaks.

Not really. If your running an ics rom stick with stock kernel. I have a custom one because I'm running gb clean rom

[Q] Absolutely lost....

....as to which ROM to go for!
I got my phone today after moving away from an iPhone 4 (naturally), and have rooted it already.
However, I cannot decide which ROM to go for!
I'm after a stock look and feel, but obviously with the enhancements you get with custom roms (better performance/bug fixes/potential overclocking etc).
Can anyone point me in the direction of a relatively stock mod that is absolutely awesome?
Hoping someone can help, I've gone through two pages of ROMs (so about 20 ROMs) and have no idea which is good or bad.

Got a link?
Also I've rooted it with CWM and Odin, but I cant get Titanium Backup to work? It complains about not having access, I guess thats because it needs SuperUser rather than SuperSU? I have BusyBox installed so it's not that!

My tablet is on ICS and personally I don't think I want to go back to ICS, I much prefer JB!
I may give dragon a go and if it sucks then just go back to stock - is there a sticky thread with stock roms anywhere or do we need to do a nandroid backup?
We as a community are not here to recommend Roms.......ALL roms are worked on by Devs that spend time trying to make a great user experiance. Least we can do is actually test them out and not rely on word of mouth to pick which one is better.
the same Rom someone is using is freaking awesome -- i may think is just not for me do to some little things that the Dev has added or taken away. so flash them all to your hearts content and you will find one that you just have to go back to.
for me right know its RGUI JB V7 build, before that it was RGUI MIUI that i had to have and before that i as a Foxhound rom guy.........take your pick from the dev thread. it wont take long before you pick one you like....especialy if you are looking for the stockish experiance/look
