[Q] best app for free text messages (instead of sms)? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for an app which allows free exchange of text messages, as a replacement sms (which cost money).
ebuddy xms looks ok but it requires a ton of permissions, which I don't like.
I don't need something too fancy, just simple text messages. Ideally should also be available for iphone/BB/nokia so it could be used with many friends.
TIA

Free text messages ? Do you mean free messanger?

I mean something which allows to send an "sms" which will popup on the friend's phone, but which is free.
messengers are good for chats and conversations. I just need something to quickly send a few lines of text now and then.

tel me wich is good msg application i send fast and free

Search google play for 'Handcent sms'

Thanks. Please see my original post: I'm looking for a *free* replacement to sms. Handcent is an alternative to the stock sms app, but the sms it sends cost money.

My bad, I misread.
Try google

Instant Messaging SMS!

Hey
I had this app on my mobile that meant when I sent a text it looked like an instant message and I really liked it although it came with a terrible contacts application.
Is there anyway I can simply have the Instant Messaging SMS service without the custom contacts app?
If so, please can you direct me to it or a download link or whatever!
Thanks!

SMS handling

I find SMS conversation threads amusing and useful enough but this is my work phone as well and sometimes I need to save and be able to easily access certain messages.
On my last phone (not Android, no SMS conversation) I could create folders, eg 'Saved' or 'Work' and when I had read an SMS I could delete or save to folder. I acknowledge that this is terribly old fashioned etc but it's functionality I would quite like to retain. Backing up doesn't meet the 'easily accessible' side of it.
Could anyone suggest an app that handles SMS in this way?
Cheers

handcent sms?
http://www.handcent.com/
Yeah, thanks. I'm using that and it just doesn't have that folder, save an individual SMS functionality that I need.

App to hide sender ID?

Anyone knows a way or app, to send texts but can then hide or change my number, as i wana send some texts, but don't want my ex to know the number or talk to her, so prefer texting her?
Without giving the number I assume you don't need a response so most phone companies have a email to sms service. Good for sending a message without a response.
Or if you need two way conversation just use textplus from the market and create a free throwaway account.

Click to collapse
Cheers bud, unfortunatly textplus is only for the states am in UK.
My bad, I read the words "anywhere in the world" but missed that that part was only app to app.

[Q] Group SMS app?

I need to get a decent app that will allow me to send group sms messages to 70+ contacts at a time. Currently I'm using go sms pro to send them as it can use the groups i've imported via goggle contacts into the stock messaging app.
However some contacts aren't receiving my messages for some reason.
Anyone know of a good paid or free app that will allow me to get the job done properly?
Group SMS
same required app here...any suggestions?
Handcent, but I don't know if it goes as high as 70.
Does go sms pro only send a set amount of texts in one go? If this was the case then maybe that's why alot of my contacts don't get my messages???

Whats the best app to use to send sms to all contacts?

I have a group of at least 1000 contacts that I need to send regular sms to, which is the best app to use?
I've tried handcent (crashes always....latest version), chomp sms (max of 9 contacts), go sms (I think this one works but I'm not sure if all contacts are listed, I only tried adding them but not actually sending them (because it's gonna be expensive if I send them out unecessarily.
Anyone with similar experiences? I need to be sure that it reaches all 1000 contacts. I've been working like hell adding contacts to a new google account.
wow.. that's insane.. I'd suggest using the gmail app to send a mass msg like that. you can select the sa.e group of 1000 from gmail, and email their phones, you can send it as an SMS or mms.
as far as insane mass texting like that good luck... I know there's a tweak in villain rom that lets you send unlimited messages at once, not sure if it crashes at 1000 tho

Insane yes but I have to do it since I'm on marketing lol
The only thing I entered per contact is their mobile phone so no email. And nope I can't use gmail for sending sms in my country.
Anyone out there who has tried pullin off something like this?
You could create groups with maybe 100 contacts in each. Would be easy to see if go sms pro works then.

I too would be interested in finding a good solution for this too although I only have to send around 600 at max.
Btw, 1000 ppl to text. Wow. I have nearly that many contacts but thats including businesses etc.

You can try our SMS Marketing Service app that support unlimited sms sending per hour (we have 40 sms add ons, so you don't worry for 100 sms limit per hour)
