[Q] How to backup apps without using titanium backup? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am a noob so plz don't mind if my question sounds silly..
I am using an unlocked X10 on stock SE 2.3.3 ROM with DooMKernel v0.6 for unlocked bootloaders.. I want to switch to the feralab v13.2 volt rom.. But in the installation guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24106417&postcount=1884) it says:
Before installation please make a backup of your contacts/apps because rom will make a full wipe of your phone.(DONT use Titanium backup to restore DATA for this rom or you may get force closes..)

How do i backup my apps in that case? any other application or method? i hv a lot of apps and i really don't wanna have to download them all again..

or does it mean i can restore apps but just not their data?

1)Just make a backup of current ROM with xRecovery and when You flash the feralab do advanced restore in xRecovery. I think that feralab is stock based ROM so there shouldn't be any problems.
2)Other way is to use my tool. Just check the signature

1) Yes you need to, but if you want to root again flash the .42 and do an update over the air (ota updates only on locked bootloader!)
2) Try it without, if you can start it and everything works, it's great :good:
3) Yes you will loose root and you have to root again.
I recommend doing a nandroid backup using cwm first and backing up all apps using Titanium Backup to restore them if you can't keep your data

3. Yes, and not all gb firmware can be rooted.
Flash rootable gb firmware, root it, install cwm, and upgrade to latest gb via ota if you want.

Xperia mini PRO Custom ROM black screen

Hello,
I have Xperia Mini PRO sk17i 2.3.4 with zergush root and CWM (x-parts) with locked bootloader. I tried install this Custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991371
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726863
After installing is only black screen (no sony logo, just BLACK SCREEN and nothing happening)without bootanim. Just nothing. I wiped all cache/dalvik cache and /system folder. What i did wrong? Thanks !
You are in GB and those are for ICS. If you're on ICS, check if you did all the wipes, formatting system is highly important

No i relocked it because Flashtool said something about missing file. I don´t understand much. CWM is part of kernel (now i don´t mean X-parts CWM which i already have) ? I need this for warranty, because if i need repair phone i must clean all edits like root and relock bootloader.
Thanks again for response!

[Q] Please Help me to backup my ROM & install ICS

Hi Guys! I have bought this xperia neo from O2 UK and they blocked ICS update, as you all know the issue. But I really want to install ICS .587 after taking backup my current ROM & so that if ICS doesn't function well I can revert to my current ROM.
I have researched for two weeks about taking backup my current ROM but all I found on a site that the file system version: WORLD-1-8_4.0.2.A.0.62 is the difficult one to backup.
As I believe, for the developers nothing is difficult, they always come with a solution. Can I get help from any of you please??? If you could tell me the way to backup current ROM & install ICS that would be a blessing for me. Thanks in advance.
Root ur phone, instalk cwm, goto cwm > backup & restore > backup done

The only method I know off to backup your Rom As it is now
Is to take a Nandroid backup through Cwm
But you need to root your phone for that!
Read some sticky threads on how to root!
You'll get it done easily!

Come on man why don't you use Google or xda's wonderful search feature.
The biggest misconception of you guys is that you think we're all sitting out here to help you out.
Not that people here don't help but why don't you use your brain for a change.
Or even better use GOOGLE.

[Q] backup current kernel on Neo V

Dear all,
I would like to backup the kernel currently installed on this Neo V. I don't see such an option in Flashtool, therefore I'm asking for you help!
The scenario is quite simple: I'm running a stock ICS with root and custom kernel, and I would like to backup everything (kernel + clockworkmod backup), install "Super Jelly Bean rom", and -just in case- be able to roll back to the current system.
Thanks in advance!

U cant backup and restore a kernel..
its not ROM to do like that..
the only way to change kernel is through flashtool and some kernel flashers via computer..

There is no use even if u export it to .img.. Because it will the same kernel that you have flashed..
seee.. u cant flash a kernel through Neo V.. it needs a pc/laptop to do that..
but in many of samsung galaxy series phones u can flash kernel.through phone and no need of pc for that.. but that privilege is not there for our xperia devices..
hope you got it now.

Thanks.
Anyway, I don't have any problem in using a PC to backup the kernel. And use it to restore it, too.

While you use a ROM no changes are made in kernel. All changes you do is in your system. So no need to backup a kernel as it will be the same. As much as you recovery is concerned, it is included in the ramdisk of a kernel so re flashing the kernel will have recovery. But just in case you did some changes to kernel, just unpack the ramdisk and edit it accordingly, repack and done! You'll have the required kernel. Flash it anytime you want
Cheers,
AJ
