i was working with gingerbread cool then i came to upgrade to ics my mobile is unlocked version now i`m facing "no service" and some times it tell me it can`t find the carrier any help guys..
One is your IMEI original if not restore your backed up EFS folder .
Have you entered the network settings ,
Is it the correct firmware with your location modem and CSC ??
jje
I had a similar problem, I put my sim card in another phone and waited for it to register on the network, then I put it in mi phone and it worked.

probability is that the CSC would not have a clue as to who your network is enter network settings manually .
Modem is a question of try each .

Hello! I hope i started this in the right thread?
Ive had problems with my phone lately. The problem is that i cant make phone calls and text, it says "Emergency Calls Only"
When i dial *#1234# in the dialer it says my CSC is unknown? May that be the problem?

As you dont get network, Check your imei number in about>settings. If it says unknows then you need to restore efs from a backup.

Check that your mobile account isnt limited or restricted.
Check your sim in another phone.

I had the same problem once with my phone. Turned out to be the SIM card was shot. Had to get a new SIM.
Maybe a solution
For Unknown CSC:
I had the same problem but since I used a MULTI CSC in my ROM I had to select one to be used.
So in the dialer I typed in: *#272*YOUR_IMEI_SHOULD_BE_TYPED_IN_HERE# and then select the one you want like XEH or XEU, etc.
After it the phone will reboot and maybe will do a wipe but I'm not quite sure. I cannot remember anymore.
Hope I could help.
Ive tried other sims cards inside the phone, nothing new. Ive basicly tried all the basic "trys" but nothing helped. And i dont have a EFS Folder back-up im afraid . . .
Thanks for the response!
My suggestion would be to flash a stock rom and see if it rebuilds the EFS folder .
If it does follow rule one backup your EFS zillions of posts on it .
Note
you do not give us a clue regarding firmware or what you have flashed ion the OP .

Just Change CSC to your country CSC and flash Stock Rom
Hello,
If you are facing issue about CSC than change it to your country/region specific CSC and flash stock ROM. everything will be fine than. All the Instructions and Stock Rom for specific region is given in the below link.

Thank u, I had flashed the correct rom but its mobile nw is not coming up, Is the modem driver still stuck up with the old cdma uk 3 rom?
Check what version your modem is in Settings > About Device, if it has XX in the version it's still the UK one, flash yours.
If its the Indian code, check your imei both on the sticker under the battery and in Settings > About Device > Status if they are different you have a corrupt efs and need to restore a backup, if you have no backup it's service center time.
Hi Guys,

Hi guys,
I'm having some problems with my galaxy s3 GT - I9300, it all started when i tried to unlock it via GalaxSim Unlock.
I started the prosses regulary, making a EFS folder back up (the original EFS).
Then i tried with annother sim but it did not get signal.. here is where I mess up.
I make a factory reset and I lost the ORIGINAL EFS back up.
I make another EFS folder back up, but that back up is not the original, is the one that GalaxSim installs.
My IMEI is the same that the one in the box, also my S/N is not 0000..
So.. I'm wondering if you can help me, maybe i can send you my efs folder to see if it is something wrong.
Thank you very much. I hope someone can help me.
PD: my phone was locked to claro URUGUAY. I'm on 4.2.1 stock
a factory reset does not affect your EFS folders, hence it is still your original EFS folder.
not sure if the sim unlock tool touches the EFS folders though.
flash 4.1.2

Ok.. so if galaxsim dos not touch the efs folder, it's the original one.. but i don't know if galaxsim change something or not.
Other thing is that my 3G works, but I can't make any call. It says that I'm not registed in the network
That says wrong IMEI or user has not put network APN settings into phone in most cases .

I have checked again the imei and it's the same as in the box, also the one back the battery.
There is only one change, the last number that appears in the box is 3 and the last one on the phone is 1..

I'm gonna try ariza again, but some where i have read that is needed a super wipe.
When I try it, I only installed the .apk but it didn't work..
So, it's needed a diferent rom, a wipe or something else?
I'm getting this little black box quite everywhere I go , and I don't know how to get rid of it . Moreover , my phone does not ask for my sim card's pin and so I can not make cals . No idea really... but if you know how to flash a stock rom via ODIN you can try that. If flashing back to stock again doesn't help then you probably need to send to Samsung for repair.
No service as per the basic guides stickied in General section .
Please check your IMEI is correct if not restore your backed up EFS folder .
No EFS backup = no fix .

I've just falshed a official firmware rom again , and still no coverage but at least it recognizes the sim .. If I have this new OFFICIAL ROM , and Flash Counters are reseted , I can go with it to warranty ?
If you have followed all the steps in the guide then you will probably get a warranty repair .
jje
Hi !
I'm sorry, , either you flashed it on Odin with "Clear EFS " box ticked, either you flashed firmware for wrong device. (Ex: i9000 for i9300. )
Anyway if you didn't backup EFS the only issue is Reparation Center.

you might be able to restore service if you flash an MG4 or MG5 official rom through Odin. This is only if you previously used an MG4 or MG5 rom and then flashed some other rom which uses an older modem . read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393289

I don't think it will work.
alexalghisi, can you go in Phone Information and check if you have baseband?
If no, warrently, no luck.
In the black box the phone or modem is Mc2. This is an older modem than MG4. When a ROM that uses an MG4 Modem is flashed , it alters the files in the efs Folder making the folder unreadable for earlier firmwares. If OP had ever flashed an MG4 or MG5 ROM . than an MC2 ROM would not be able to read the EFS. as it can only be used by the newer firmware that can read it. If the folder has not been corrupted than it should work.

Once I solved this issue by flashing a custom rom.. but before it I took backup of efs..
