[Q] Manufacturer Rollout Android Update - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After Google release the source code for an Android version update, generally, which device manufacturers would have faster release update?
There would not be one definitive answer due to various reason. What is the general observation? Please correct this if it incorrect, mobile phone device appears to have faster update roll out.
Perhaps there maybe two categories for roll out, and it maybe independent of each other: tablet and mobile phone device.

Ubuntu is developing a similar software to Webtop where your phone would run full Ubuntu ARM Linux when docked. They plan on releasing the source so it may be possible to port it to existing phones, although they are targeting future device manufacturers.
thanks you very much,
i will try it

ATTENTION: AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II i777 Ported Development Forum

This is the AT&T Galaxy S II i777 Ported Development Section. This is where you will find either Hellraised, Flashohilic'd or otherwise ported kernels and firmware/ROMs. If your thread suddenly becomes deleted or locked, thats because this is NOT the General or Q&A section. Again, this section is only for AT&T Galaxy S II kernels/firmware/roms.
Before anything, make sure you real the XDA RULES. These rules go for every forum on XDA and will be enforced. Pay close attention to Rule #1... read it, then read it again. Also be sure to check for other Forum Specific Rules that will be enforced be the Moderators here. We have seen an influx of new users posting and asking how to do this or how to fix this without doing any research for themselves. This has grown very tiresome and is very taxing on the Devs as they strive to not only maintain their current work, but to add updates for all of us. We dont want to tire out the Devs and make them disgruntled, so we all can do our part and search for our answers.
Have a question? Most questions have already been answered here in the FAQ topic. Try looking here before you decide to post a new thread to ask a question. Chances are, you're not the first to have a questions so its more than likely been answered and discussed.

[Q] Verizon/Google Update Alliance question

Does anyone have a link to anything actually announced by Verizon regarding their membership in the Google Update Alliance/promise to update handsets for 18 months?
All I can find is the Google announcement and a lot of 3rd party reports based on that.

More or less a Sandbox of questions that don't fit in other categories.
I'd say general is for basically just talk in general about the device maybe plans for certain things development wise, off topic talk with a partial regards to the device whether it be direct or indirect... Obviously Q&A is for specific questions, Android Development is for development based on Sense and stock ROMs, ports, mods, hacks, and Original Android Development is for source built ROMs (aosp), device tool packages or as posted already "super" tools, root, s-off, unlock, that are original built and or packaged by the OP/person/developer that has created the thread, if the OP is posting someone elses work ported over to our device MUST be in Android Development as it is not original... Also must give proper credits where credits are due!!! Hopefully that breaks it all down for you and sums it up
Thanks, i just dont wanna get closed topics and cause noob issues lol

Someone needs to have a look at the XDA Forum Rules if they haven't done so yet. When you do, you will notice item 15:
15. Keep threads / posts on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is that your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
General Forums - For news and announcements relating to your device.
Q&A Help & Troubleshooting Forums - For all question / request threads and posts. If there is no Q&A Help & Troubleshooting forum, use the General Forum of the relevant device
