Stock Firmware S5830 - Different Versions
Hello All,
New here and was wondering why when installing different stock firmwares from Sam Firmware the website for my Samsung S5830 (this is for use in Latin America - Mexico), when installing let's say a European stock firmware which is newer than the stock firmware that Samsung release for Latin America (2.3.4 vs 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 or 2.3.7), using Odin it allows you to install the firmware that you are trying to use but it never boots up and keeps cycling through the booting images of Samsung and the logo. If the phone is flashed using the stock firmware for Latin America this does not occur at all. Procedure is run as suggested with the .ops file and the home.tar file but still does not work if you try to use European or any other firmwares.
Any clue on what could be the problem here?
Thank You
check if your GSM band frequency is same with those of Europe this could be causing the issue, or your phone is locked to a carrier.

After flashing new rom, try factory reset and wipe cache.

or should i say.. can I flash an EU i9100 rom on a Bell i9100m?
will I get an i9100 model number?
just to make sure it's supported by android market on my laptop Chrome.
THX!
Yes, I'm using Bell GT-i9100M, flashed Hong Kong Rom (for chinese input) and SIM unlocked, it shows Samsung Galaxy SII i9100 (instead of i9100M) on start up screen, everything works fine.
Any GSII could be flashed with any region firmware. No problem

Not the chinese ones that don't support EU firmwares and vice-versa and korean ones which are different models (SW, MW, etc)
I got my SGS II from India itself and still running 2.3.3 because the 2.3.4 is not available for download. I am using android from quiet a bit of time but its being a long time I am friendly with flashing with odin (since my spica). My question to friends here is I am planning to the Europe latest 2.3.4 instead of going for 2.3.4 that is released in china, after downloading the European F/W I just got one file .tar (there should have have been two more CSC, Phone/PDA). Now with Indian CSC will I be able to flash my phone via odin to the same F/W. Plz guide me completely.
Please reply folks eager to get the update also let me know if the market place will meaning I will get the cost of the apps in Euros
Downloading what file from where ???
Did you actually read the instructions for this file you downloaded .
That would be a good start .

I only flashed the TAR file by selecting it in the PDA. Rest of the files i omitted. I was in Stock KF2 and then moved to KG5
Also if i understand correctly the CSC is more for languages specific. I believe you will anyway be using English US / UK. This firmware has it
What abt market place
Will it show the apps in Indian currency or in European currency.

Dear members here,
Can i just ask or know if its ok or advisable to flash other region ROM (eg XWLP7)on my SG2 as i am from singapore and baseband version is DXLP9 (ICS) or DXKL3 (GB).
Thanks.
Yes, you can flash a stock rom for another region. You more than likely won't be able to get OTA firmware updates tho if you do. You'd need to re-flash stock firmware for your region in order for those to work again. And even if you do, some people still end up having problems getting OTA firmware updates once they've done so. Which isn't a massive problem as it's easy enough to flash firmware updates for your region via Odin (many people on XDA have done this).
Also, make sure to use a firmware for a model suitable for your phone.
I9100G can only use i9100G firmwares and kernels...
I9100, I9100P, and I9100T can all use each others' firmwares and kernels.
Thanks for all the advise.. i have loaded a baseband of NELP3 and its amazing...
Hi,
I am sorry if this is a repeat question......
I have a S2 from Saudi Arabia with CSC: KSA (UAE).
I want to change CSC to INU (India).
1. How can I do this?
2. Will I get official ICS India update through kies after I update the CSC?
use odin and flash official rom for india
Try csc changer from market. But it will reset your phone.

Does official rom for India means CSC, PDA and Phone or it is just one of them?
Also is it possible that I flash official GB 2.3.6 India rom and get official India ICS update from KIES?
Yes Odin package is whole stuff.
Yes you can also go that root, GB to ics via kies.
But Odin is better.

Flash official ICS via Odin, go to sammmobile.com click the firmwares tab then the smartphone link, then the Android link, then your phone model and finally your region.
Find the latest firmware for your actual location India or India and sub Continents, you will need to register to download it, then use Odin to flash it.

Thanks
Thanks guys......it worked like peice of cake...... though after I updated to indian 2.3.6 version through kies said you cannot get updates through kies.....but I updated again to Indian ICS version (thanks to sammobile)......and it works fine....even kies is not giving any error now.....
Hi all. A quick question if I may. I have a US tablet S3 (T820). My understanding is that all the devices, irrespective of the region, in terms of hardware are the same this time (no difference in processors etc.). Therefore I assumed that I can apply any firmware for T820. I downloaded the last one T820XXU1AQF3 (for UK) and tried to apply it via Odin. It showed that it failed. Had to download QD6 for Canada, install the CSC and the the BL in order to be able to boot the device. Now the funny part is that it shows in the settings that I actually have the T820XXU1AQF3 installed (not sure how that happened since it FAILED).
Generally speaking, is it possible to install any firmware on a US device? Why did I have the fail ( I installed also the CSC and BL of the T820XXU1AQF3). Thanks in advance.

Hi Kyrillos,
I can confirm it works fine, I just got my Tab S3 (US 'XER' Version). I got the latest UK (BTU) firmware using SamFirm and then flashed it using the newest version of Odin. I flashed the BL, AP, and CSC (NOT HOME_CSC).
This also removed some of the US Bloatware that I didn't want.
Hope that helps

Thanks! I managed to update as well. It seems my odin version was the issue (although it was working just fine with my S7).
Does the UK (BTU) version have the battery drain bug?
All firmwares have the wifi battery drain bug, including the AQF5 for KOO (korea). May be it's a hardware problem?
