Any way to get back to gbread? - Motorola Droid RAZR

I am perfectly happy with ics but I haven't seen a thread stating if you could just rsd back to. 173 if you installed the cheesecake leak. Hopefully this will generate a positive answer from someone that has actually done it.

Thanks, I'm curious myself.

I'm not ready to give up ics but I have only had it 3 days. If it turds I need a backup plan. I hope it works for you

It does turd. Day 4 here and I'm currently RSDing right back to stock then onward to .173
Couldn't take the following anymore:
Pull down curtain becomes TOTALLY unresponsive at random times. Hot reboot required to fix.
After dialing a phone number, talking, hanging up and the going to make another call, the previous phone number I dialed is there causing me to dial a 20 digit number
Google Voice notifications do not stay in the curtain. They notify then automatically get deleted.
WiFi connectivity drops out random, dconn and reconn to fix.
Prepare for De-Turding!

...and now you know, folks, why we're apparently getting another Gingerbread update prior to ICS. Development can be fun, but be certain--Motorola knows what they're doing.

Did you do a full wipe after you installed the leak? I have a few minor issues but its still running good. Froze 30 apps though lol

My Wi-fi is bad on Gingerbread anyway.
For some reason, this Razr doesn't have the signal strength of all the other Android phones I have.
Note, while writing this message, I had a signal Drop out again ffs

Mine acted a bit strange until i did a factory reset, running zero problems since Sunday

Should always wipe after a major update like this.

I installed the ICS leak via Cheesecake and have since RSD'd back to. 173 and re rooted. Just follow the fastboot instructions and you'll be fine.

as usual people once they get their update they been crying for months now now want to go back to previous rom before update lol

Personally, I've been very content with GB. When I started seeing all the ICS leak posts, I got curious and thought, "why not?"
I've tried it, and actually thought the leak was very nice. However, I felt better going back to stock for now as it looks like a new GB OTA will be released soon, and hopefully ICS not too far after.
Really liked what I saw in the ICS build.

Everyone on the leak will begin to experience what I did. It's unlikely, but possibly, that I have a defective phone, so it'll happen.
I did do a factory reset, full wipe etc. and everything was incredible for about 4 days. Then as someone else so eloquently put it, ICS started to "Turd" on me.
Once it does that 100 times or so, you start thinking about "DeTurding" which is you're only option.
sadly, ICS isn't ready, nor will it be if we wait on Motorola.
Devs, start your threads! I'm willing to pay you to finish ICS!

Any chance you have a link to the files?

the cool thing though, is that we have "the" ICS base including kernel to build off of.. granted, we can't make many kernel tweaks beyond what's 'allowed' w/ a locked bootloader, but I believe having an ICS kernel directly from Moto will help w/ the CM9 builds etc..
Lots less to go wrong w/ having proper drivers etc. to work off of.
(hopefully anyway)
EDIT:.. I just fastbooted back to .173 and all seems well

I just installed ICS today, and I haven't experienced any of these problems at all. I'm curious as to how many of you factory reset after the install? Everything I've read says factory reset after install does the trick.
I absolutely love ICS! (but I'm glad to hear RSD works if I DO run into any problems)
\\Carved into this thread by my ICS RAZR//

I was trying to fast boot back earlier today and it it would get to the 5th item of flashing and give me an unknown error and fail. Luckily Matt G was able to flash back the 4G radio for me. He mentioned deleting the OEM lines will clear the errors.
I am not the greatest when it comes to command lines and all that junk. I have only ever used his utility but 1.5 wasn't restoring the 4G either. Now I have 1.51...
Is RSD just simply download the file, select the "uncompress and flash" or is there some other modification needed to flash the file?
Just hoping someone with a bit more know how can chime in.
*UPDATE:I re downloaded everything and it worked. Must have just been a bad DL of the RSD File.

Flash back to 2.1

Can someone lead me to the files I need to flash my Fascinate back to 2.1 from the Froyo update. I'm not sure what files or Odin i need to do this. I'm having an issue with my 3G disappearing and dropping since going to the OTA froyo and never had problems with it on 2.1 so i'm trying to go back to stock 2.1, maybe even try to goto Froyo again [maybe something got corrupted or something]. Before i got about getting a new one, i'd like to see if I can flash back to 2.1 and get it working again.
There's a stock package that you can use to Odin back to DL09 (eclair) here. That same thread gives an easy way to get back to froyo if you want to try again.
Alternatively, if you're just having connectivity issues, you could simply try another radio. Some people have a better time with DL09 modem, at least compared to EB01 and EC01 (not sure whether anyone finds it better than the current one), and you can Odin just the modem here. You might want to try this first and see if it does the trick. DL09 modem works fine with leaked froyo releases, so it should be okay with the official one.

Which should I try, im kinda new to this, so far its lookin like i'm going to have to get a new phone. It makes me angry cuz it worked perfectly fine on 2.1 then when i updated, now the 3G just disappears randomly

Do you think changing the radio version or whatever will fix my problem here. I mean in my search to find out if anyone else has been having their 3G randomly disappear i havent see to much report. I just dont get how it was working fine with 2.1, once i installed froyo it started this problem, now im flashed back on 2.1 and it seems still "broken." Even the Verizon techs had no idea what was going on with it when i took it in. I mean can software screw up the hardware?
I was told by a Verizon rep that they knew that this OTA update would cause this problem in a certain percentage of devices and they just sent me a new one. The second in 2 weeks. When I went in and complained they just went straight to the computer and ordered me a new 1 both times, no ?'s asked really. Just hope you're still under warranty.

[Q] What did OFFICIAL OTA build 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6 fix for you? Not Pre Release sbf

I started this thread to note fixes or not the OFFICIAL OTA release on or about 101211 accomplished without having to manually run the pre release/leaked sbf, This way we can rule out any problems associated with that process as the cause. I have tested the following fixes successfully and my phone is rooted:
Voicemail played on my BT headset more than once without rebooting unexpectedly.
Stay awake while charged remains checked after opening kickstand.
Calls have not dropped yet so I am encouraged.
I can't even get my damn thing to go. I supposedly started it about 5 hours ago and haven't seen a single status message since. Whenever I go back into Update Motorola Software it says I can't because an update is already in progress... Yeah it's cool they're putting out updates to fix problems but 1. It's nice not to have problems in the first place and 2. It would be cool if they would actually download.
This isn't the first update that's sat there and stared at me for hours.

The leaked SBF and the OTA SBF are exactly the same. Exactly. You can verify the hashes yourself if you like. See link below.
If you can't get the OTA to download/install correctly, just download RSD Lite and the SBF from the dev forums and flash it manually with RSD lite. That works very reliably. See below.

This OTA was a pain for me too. After 12 hours of overnight nothing, pulled the battery and 3 hours later it worked. Not saying the battery pull was needed. Something different/wrong about this one.
So far, I'm seeing faster data (3G & WiFi, no 4G in my area yet), and all around snappier response. Let alone the obvious, like VIDEO CHAT! (That's huge for me, since my daughter lives 2,000 miles away from me, and I really only get to see her on webcam).
Pew! Pew! Pew! From my Mo-Pho!

You're missing the point...
This thread was not started because I thought there was a difference in the builds. This thread was started because there is a difference in what one must do to install the updates. Installing the Official OTA eliminates any problem one may have run into using RSDlite as the reason the build did not fix whatever they hoped it would. Not to mention the fact the pre-release thread is 80 frigging pages long, predates the 101211 release date and refers to steps one would not see/experience downloading or installing the Official OTA update.

I don't think you understand. There is no difference in terms of actual changes made to the phone between OTA and manually flashing through RSD.
The SBF contains everything on the phone, system image, radio changes, etc. Everything. You can completely wipe the phone clean and the SBF will give you back a stock working phone exactly as if you had Motorola do the OTA.
Now, if you are having trouble using RSD Lite, that's an issue with RSD Lite. Post the errors and we might be able to help.
Big fix for me was that I can now answer the phone in the car dock and play sound through the car speakers. Before, if you tried that (by hitting the speaker button), the mic wouldn't function.

[Solved]BSR froze during restore now 3g is messed up post sbf

I was cheesecaking yesterday and after I was done for the say I made a nand backup of it and went to restore my normal nand. BSR froze during it and I had to battery pull after waiting forever. So I had to SBF. I went to restore again and all the md5 sums were mismatched. So I did a wipe and SBF'd again. Still no data connection. I tried it a few times again and finally went into settings and did a full wipe sd cards included and restore to factory settings. Internet came back but sometimes still wont connect like when idle for a while.
My questions now.
Can a nand restore that freezes cause this? How can a SBFing not totally fix this? Since I woke this morning and had no data until I rebooted is my phone screwed? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I know that sometimes u may have 3gto issues after sbf and a data wipe from stock recovery
Have you tried dialing *228 and reprogram your phone?
I would do option 1...then call again and do option 2
U may also want to try sbf back to 2.2.2....data wipe from stock recovery...cache wipe as well.
then set up phone and take both OTAs to get back to 2.3.4
Don't try to restore any old nandroid...
Start over
---------- Post added at 02:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:08 PM ----------
But first just start with the *228
Have u done that at all since ur sbf/wipe?
---------- Post added at 02:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:09 PM ----------
I had this same exact issue b4 when I had a nandroid restore freeze on me as well...
I believe this is how I fixed it...I am not totally positive tho.
I am trying to remember exactly what I did.
I don't.know if I posted anything about it at the time tho....
I did that last night after every attempt. The only time it worked was after I was on stock blur and did the factory reset in the settings and included the sd cards on the wipe. Then it took the *228 but I never tried option 2. Maybe I should *22899 also. I don't have the old backups as they were list in the wipe not that they were usable. If the *228 option two or the *22899 I will download the froyo SBF and try that direction. So sux. Can't believe recovery locked up on me I was soo happy with my setup.
Thanks for the assistance. I hope the *228 works

Oh yeah...another quick tip
Verizon recently had trouble with their 4g services.
now I know this is 3g. But it IS a very real possibility that there may be some tower issues in your area or something with the service itself is screwy.
Don't rush anything or get to worked up at this point.
It's still early to tell whether its ur phone itself having problems or something else.
also. For some reason I have seen things like this justkind of "work themselves out" lol....
It would be one heck of a coincidence. I was gonna give it a few days before I brought my stock phone back to Verizon anyway just in case it did work itself out. My luck they'd give me a d3 or something gross like that with a keyboard XD
Oh and a question. I know almost nothing about 4G but isn't 4G ran off of gsm and not cdma? Thought 4g phones had sims
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I know almost nothing about 4g lol.
I guess I should do some research at least just for my own knowledge lol
(Edit...I am not mocking u either lol...I just realized it might look like that lol )
I did t think you were mocking me lol. Well I got sick of the way the phone data was working or not working I guess would be the right way to say it and well went to froyo and updated up. Will know something tomorrow I wish I had wrote my kernel down but I'm sure of wasn't 00005 like it is now. I swear it was a different kernel which may have got stuck from the cheesecake I was last on when the restore froze. Hopefully that was it. Ill know more tomorrow.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Yeah I was gonna ask u bout kernel also.
But sbf should have changed that
Who knows. Maybe something just went screwy
Keep us posted on what happens. I for one am very curious to see if this worked.
How's it looking so far?
Also. Do u use the battery/data manager?
I think the default after a data wipe is nightsaver or something. Which will kill ur data after non use over night. Maybe that is causing an issue
First thing I do is change that to performance. I know the SBC should have changed that I'm sure it wasn't 00005 but not 100%. Well after about 7 hrs of sleep I had a solid data connection when I woke up. Seems soild so far.
I have an increased signal reception I know my basement. I can use data on the phone if I'm not touching it (I live in bfe ) so that's a plus.
Activation worked without a hitch after going the froyo route as well. Ill have one more update on this thread t
later but I hope my recovery never locks up during a restore again
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Good to hear.
If this stays true add [SOLVED] to beginning of thread title in case anyone else experience this they will know a way to fix.
My idea truly was a "shot in the dark" lol.
OK will do. I needed an idea cuz I was out and sometimes you just need an outside shot in the dark. Thanks. Ill put that in the title when done with a synopsis of it all if it holds till tomorrow.

Another thought. It might not be a bad idea to run chkdsk on your sd card. There's a reason the restore froze and being that all the checksums were mismatched, one has to wonder if there's something going on with that card. If so, it could be a source of more problems in the future. Just a thought. You can do with it what you want.

The locking up of BSR might have corrupted it and caused errors with my backups but the issues after I sbf'd 2.3.4 led me to believe it was something is causing my 3g issues. It appears the sbf to froyo has fixed it though.

Im thinking there may have been some "rogue" system data maybe related to the kernel that wasn't being wiped or fixed via sbf.
I do t know enough to diagnose the actual problem. But I know enough to troubleshoot them lol.
It would just be great to know exactly what the root cause of this problem was so that we know exactly what to do to fix it.
I hope it stays working for ya.
I still think it might have been a network issue also. Did u ever call Verizon and ask if they had any tower issues in your area or something they were doing to the network during the days/times u experienced the issue?

No I never did call Verizon. My friends up here on it had no data issues plus I traveled a bit with the phone to different tower areas and still had the same issues. I was thinking the same thing about the rogue system data. I think while it was restoring the 2.3.4 backup from the 2.3.5 updated kernel and the freeze might have left something in there that was probably something the similar 2.3.4 kernel couldn't overwrite or rid itself of. Then the different froyo kernel overwriteit with a completely different kernel and shazam. Well that's my guess. I wish I had the exact cause though. Still working good though

Summing this mess up.
BSR froze during a restore to my normal 2.3.4 custom rom setup from chessecaking and installing 2.3.5 updates. SBF'd 2.3.4 but had bad 3G issues after that. Multiple 2.3.4 SBFs later still had 3G issues.
On Ash's advice I tried 2.2.2. Seemed to be better but not 100% I then went to a different computer (mine is a way underpowered netbook running Win 7 and I am not sure it was finishing but it came up pass)reinstalled all of it and ran RSD 5.4.4 in XP compatability mode. SBF'd 2.2.2 again and rode the updates up.
That has for sure fixed it to 100% Im back to a custom rom and stead 2mb downloads when I have good service...unlike at home
Whish I knew what caused BSR to lock up during the restore in the first place and I dont know if RSD 5.4.4 has issue with Win7 or not but a few things including mods I was running in my backup that was restoring could have caused it to go ballistic.

Flashed Rocko Rom after 2.3.5 ota...now no signal

well, almost bricked my phone, but got it back to flash the rom correctly, and unfortunately i have no signal or wifi...kinda freakin out here, tried to do factory hard reset, and it just resets the rocko rom. I, like a retard, didnt do a backup when i installed bootstrap....so anyone have any ideas here on how to get my phone back to a quazi stock state? I can't flash any sbf's because of the OTA update....please..help...
****, this is starting to be too much on my head.
Rocko is based on 198_7, so now the libmoto_ril.so and modules (xxxxx.ko) doesn't correspond with your radio and kernel.
I don't even know, if your previous system was 254_12 or 254_13.
http://d-h.st/aAi - modules
http://d-h.st/BmX - libmoto_ril.so
All files in /system/lib push into your phone - /system/lib
lol no idea either. Thank you for the quick response. Well unfortunately I really need my phone today as i'm picking up my kids, didnt think I would run the risk of screwing anything up by flashing a "locked" rom on my "locked" phone but apparently that is not so lol. My fault for not doing a backup. So atm, im flashing the electrify SBF, hoping i can get some functionality back. How ill get back from there, I have no idea, but hopefully this helps a little, for now.
Rocko roms are not supported anymore, it's written there.
Why didn't you wait for a while? This would be easy to fix.
Because I have a job interview today, and have to pick up my kids, and now judging by my phone redirecting me to a verizon wireless operator, i will be doing all that without a phone....awesome lol. Sooo....heres my conundrum now....and i appreciate you helping me....any ideas how to revert my phone back to a sprint SBF? And than...just basically getting it back to some working order, I dont care how.
There is no sprint sbf for your phone.
What is your phone detailed status now?
Flashed the radio fix i wasnt supposed to apparently...anyways, umm
system 45.1.190.mb853.usc.en.us

easy fix!? lol, from what I was reading I can't flash my SBF backwards, unless there is a stock sprint photon 2.3.5 sbf floating around somewhere, and the biggest thing Is apparently i switched the towers for Verizon somehow (I believe the electrify towers) lol, cuz I flashed the radio fix labeled
2.3.5sv2_198_7_radio.sbf.zip
sooo ya...
Anyone know how to get this bastard back to a usable condition lol or can point me to the thread? I can figure it out from there, I just need a SPRINT 2.3.5 SBF, or a way to get back to it.
Yes, easy fix. Easy fixes are not always the best.
There is no 2.3.5 sprint sbf and looks like never will be.
lol, well, anyway you can think of getting my phone to dial through sprint towers now though? Cuz it keeps trying to activate through verizon towers. I could care less if I have to keep the us cellular crap on there for now, but I would appreciate if my phone worked. God I hope a 2.3.5 stock sbf comes out lol....but ya if you could hlep me with getting this back on the correct towers that'd be freakin awesome lol
God why did I do this...I'm usually pretty tech savvy but this process has made me feel like an a**hole...If worse comes to worse, should I call motorola or sprint first?
I am not sure about cdma. Basically you reflashed the radio, so it was reseted, now you probably need to update your prl or what? First root it and install bootstrap. Then you could install mof 2.3.5ish rom. But you will be back where you were on the beginning and we are returning to the 1st post of this thread. 2nd post and the modules file is your way out(+ do not install libmoto_ril.so and I will give you 1 sbf file, if you will listen this time). Lol.
It could be more easier before.
lol ok, I will install bootstrap and put the old mod back on. will that fix the phone from thinking it's an electrify? And ya send me the link to the SBF for the radio.
well, I'm not sure how the hell i did it, but I now have my phone back mostly, under the MOF rom, it recognized the sprint towers, I have 3g, no 4g, (which I dont care) but I don't have wifi. So I guess all I need now is the WIFI if possible?
Probably the wifi lib is for the 2.3.4. Ver and why its not working.

http://d-h.st/TeB - if you already have those modules installed, this sbf will make it working.

Will this work on my phone if I install the modules? I wanted to ask you, before I went crazy trying different recipes for the fix. Saw you helped quite a people get back 4g, text, service. As of right now, I have electrify sbf, radio sbf, root, & bootstrap. As you know what works, any solitions oh wise peetr & mo. Either way it will have to wait until tomorrow, as I dled the wrong wifi driver for PC today when I was finishing up new hdd and restore. No ethernet setup in the house.... I know pretty stupid but what can I do...

YES, SOLVED, it sounds like you're in the same boat as me man, and I put on MOF's rom for locked, then flashed the an SBF (I will post the name here) and used bootstrap to flash a Zip of modules, now my phone is back to normal, WIFI, and 4G....I owe peetr alot. Holy ****balls.
The SBF is
2.3.5_45.4.13ota_unbrick_no_system
http://d-h.st/TeB
and the modules you use bootstrap to install is called
2.3.5_254_13_modules
http://d-h.st/aAi
let me see if I can upload them
not letting me upload them, but i will provide the links peetr sent me hold on
let me know if it works jelly bean
Working on the sbf dl right now, should be able to get this done without my PC tonight, well still gotta use rsd, but no internet needed.
Hope this is a fix for tonight, gonna try to help mof test tomorrow hopefully!

Constant Phone issues on ALL JB ROMS

On every Jellybean rom, I have calling issues. On some roms, call audio wont work. On the rom I just flashed, it would not make or receive calls all together. Also, this happens only after a certain period of time. And it goes from sporadic occurances to permanent. It takes about a day or two for these issues to start appearing. This is so god damn frustrating because in the beginning the rom works perfectly, I spend all my time setting it up, and then a day or so later, I get these issues that make the phone completely unusable. Its absolutely ridiculous, and If anyone has any ideas, please please let me know. I love the JB roms but they all seem to make my phone unusable after a short time.
Please help....
JB roms are still a work in progress. And your problems could be caused/made worse by your setup (apps, widgets, tweaks, etc...). If you are using different kernels/radio, it can also contribute to problems. There are just too many variables.
My answer : use an ICS rom. ICS roms are alot more stable on our phone right now.

I am observing similar issues. I didn't used to happen before. I mean it did happen but it was a rare thing. But now it is more often. Almost everyday I have to reflash because of loosing phone audio.
I was rocking AOCP 3.1 , Worked really sweet and then decided to update to go for AOCP 4.1 and since then no rom that I tried have saved me. In fact I had to revert back to stock. What rom are you using?
People, it's a known issue on all JB Roms.
Don't open a thread about it.

I have the exact same issue now, It doesnt look like any rom is saving me right now.. my phone wont make calls or receive texts at all. I was running cookies and cream 4.1.2 and everytime i flash a JB rom it just seems to get worse and worse...
EDIT: I got it back on ICS. I guess I will just have to wait to use any JB roms... its unfortunate cause I love the JB roms hahaha
I have had issues with JB as well. I, just like the OP, would experience a perfectly working phone for a day or two then **** would hit the fan for no apparent reason. The phone would start locking up, randomly rebooting, apps would fail or not load, etc etc etc.
On most ROM's I didn't even have anything installed outside of the stock apps that CAME with the ROM.
Since then I have moved to a deoxed stock ICS ROM and honestly am not looking back. ICS is fast, stable, feature packed, and JUST WORKS.
My thing with JB was it's speed...but I was also comparing a barebones JB to the stock Gingerbread that came with the phone. I wasn't aware of how fast ICS was or I would have just gone with it long before hand!
But yeah, either way it goes, for me, no matter the ROM, JB always seemed to mess up at one point or another. Got annoying. Been going with ICS for over a week now with ZERO issues what so ever. No reboots, no crashes, no freezing, no nothing.
NEVERMIND..... ICS worked for one call, and now no calls work... great....
ICS roms are very stable.
You may have flashed your rom/kernel/radio incorrectly, or made some tweaks, or installed incompatible apps... There are too many variables.
Revert back to completely stock setup and see if the problems persist.

I'll take a stab, what gapps? Do you use a call blocker of any kind?

Same. I think it's the same for a lot of people, and I think the ones who say things run great either ignore the problems or are just extremely lucky.
Switch to Padawan. It's rock solid and you get all the fanciness of jelly bean. Since switching to it I've completely lost the itch to try out random JB ROMs. I have cool animations, Google Now, and ICS Browser+. And until I rebooted earlier to mess with stuff, I was at 142 hours uptime without any problems.
I'm not calling anyone a liar, though. I just think some people ignore more or are, as stated, lucky. I've done wiped everything, went back and wiped stuff post ROM, ran 3rd party (3rd ROM party) kernels and the ones that come with it. I've set cron to fix permissions on boot. And other than gapps -- which I always flash what the dev says to -- I run about ten 3rd party apps, and that's mostly made up of solid apps -- dropbox, exdialer, ics browser+.. etc..
Padawan, or even Nebula.
These ROMs are by the same dev, and the only difference is that Nebula is based off of Canadian version, which has even less bloat. It is better than stock.
I have been on Nebula for about a week, and no random reboots, no lockup, no phone problems. Everything just works.

I like padawan, and Im on it now. But i still am getting this random issue where calls do not go through. Its so aggravating that Im about to smash my phone against the wall. Its happening all the time now and when I need to make a call, I cant. god damnit
have you flashed the most recent modem?
Yes, that was my next question.
Have you at any point flashed a different kernel/radio/modem? If you have, or if you do not know, search for stock kernel/radio/modem and flash them to see if it helps.
yes, uclf6 modem but eventually it just gives out.. idk what the issue is here everything works fine for a few days and out of the blue when I need my phone i cant receive or make calls anymore its INFURIATING

Revert back to complete stock and see if the issue still exists.

I have had a similar issue with the JB rom's...so far I've tried only two and seem to find the aokp_quicyatt_jb_milestone-1 rom. I have noticed issues with my phone and LTE network coverage...meaning, I can see the signal go from 4G LTE to 3G to H, then gone...I looked at the phone status settings and noticed the mobile network type with this rom is LTE:13 and with the stock ICS rom (prior to rooting and flashing) it was LTE:14...is there a way that I can change it via terminal? Thank you in advance for any help on this. The one big difference I can see so far is the battery life...much better. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Issues are known....Thread Closed & Thank You.
