EVO 3D was a gimmick. lol.
I am an original EVO 4G user.
And, I have a rooted HTC Jetstream tablet (WHICH has a nonremoveable battery).
Point being, root doesn't depend on battery.
The issue with the battery is that If it gets stuck in a boot loop, devs are kinda stuck in powering it down and such.

Kickstand, microsd, lovely casing(opion), and sprint unlimited network. After all these +'s, people still complain about something. I think at this point, I am going to stay a loyal htc fanboy because 1.) I don't want to go back to apple(I like to have more than a screen full of icons on my phone) and 2.) Samsung's Touchwiz is a generic looking launcher, IMO. and 3.)Htc's native apps are functional for my technology needs.

Ugh I'm really torn now. I have no wimax where I live, and have awful 3g speeds for the past two years (literally slower than dial-up during the day). I was REALLY thinking of biting the bullet and switching to Verizon, but this phone is awesome. And at $199 it's a steal. However, according to the leaks, I won't get 4g in my area until at least 2013, really limiting what this phone is used for.
Jeez, enough new thread posts already. Let the moderators handle it rather then adding another post to a thread you already disagree with.

Pssst for dumb folks that didnt get joke read in different section where a guy was testing a 3D and asking for help to port info. The guys who got there hands on it were couple best dev 4g has who had hand in rooting the original. No doubt wthey will keep quiet til launch, but id say if what i read was true and pretty certain it is they prolly already have it done. Besides htc has been awesome with whole issue anyways. Very tiny chance they cant get past it htc will step up as always and solve it asap. Moto photon is simply a nightmare for motorola. They already losing stock big time now with this issue? 3D will outsell it 20 to 1. The rest will buy sammy. I was in bb in boro tn and the bb playbook? Lol dude said they have yet to sell ONE! Moto deserves same fate after that dont like locked bootloader buy elsewhere. Uhhh sure thing ill do exactly that you freaking noob!

I understand that you're inquiring about the Evo 3D having the bootloader unlocked, I'll be more that happy to assist you with this as I understand the importance of knowing what is going on with your device. At the time that the announcement was made about the bootloaders being unlocked the Evo 3D was well into production and essentially a "existing" device. There are plans to unlock the bootloader however we currently don’t have a schedule yet, but stay tuned; we will let you know via through our official website and official social media outlets. She's actually quite good at it, but the HTC rubber case was making it hard to do anything really creative

I don't see any incentive for HTC to unlock the bootloader. I may be wrong, but even if we return the 3D at the end of 30 days, they haven't lost any money since technically, they already sold it to Sprint. Also, why would they unlock the bootloader when they can get free security testing from the people here who are trying to root it. Once the phones are rooted (which is inevitable), HTC will find out if they have any flaws in their code. The only downside to holding back the unlock is the negative publicity from the root community (which is a tiny percentage) and the loss of sale to people who would have bought it if it was unlocked (which is a tiny percentage).
If my memory serves me right I remember there was an exploit for the OG Evo that used the flashlight app or apk to obtain some kind of perma root. I have the flashlight app on my E3D and was wondering could the same exploit be used.

I obtained root through the USB port.
So I was at work while I got flamed. Now what was the point of some of you guys acting like assholes? Hey I been flamed plenty of times on xda as well as other forums. Don't take it personal.
Worst time was when I put neons on my Honda Accord and posted a pic of it on a Honda Modding forum. I swear it was about ten pages of flaming me calling my car a Christmas Tree and what not. It looked like something out of a Tron movie. I guess street glow wasn't cool anymore.
It was a good try nonetheless. To achieve results sometimes requires the most ridiculous (by some standards) methods. I agree not to take the flaming personal though. Firing back won't make the people stop. Ignoring their flames is probably your best bet. That or simply reporting the post, as it not only is counter-productive, but doesn't encourage the throwing of ideas, no matter what they are.
Is it me or is the 3D forums filled with a bunch of dicks compared to the 4G? That's it I'm returning my phone cause of it...BUT Not before I ***** to HTC on their FB PAGE.

I watched them dev the new version for the Flyer last night. Depending on how many more device they plan to include is how long it will be. Remember once they get the bootloader to s-off they also are having to port a recovery. Every device must be tested on every rom/hboot version. That is a lot of **** to do. Especially if they only have one or two devices. I hope it's soon though!

If the hero 4g gets root and roms before the the EVO 3d does ill reluctantly have to jump ship on this phone.
The hero 4g won't be good enough to jump ship to its gonna be a minor upgrade from the oh evo compared to the 3d I mean it's single core for petes sake. I think it will be aimed at the mid ranged community. I don't tho. Kinda this phone lives up to the hero name like the first one did

OK here is a question. If they have S-off for the sensation why not test it and put it out for the sensation , and then add other phones to the list afterwards? I think this would stop most of the useless threads in the sensation thread and the 3vo ?? Why try putting it out for thirty phones all at once and then when a new phone comes out holding off to test that too.

Exactly! Why wait to release for all phones. Supposedly they have had S-Off for the Sensation & 3D for weeks and now we see CWM running. So they have S-Off, root and now a Recovery. What's the hold up? Release it already. The whole stable, bricking excuse is getting old. If some people brick trying, oh well. We all know the risk we take when we tamper with our phones. Take it back to Sprint and start over. If you guys don't have TEP on your $600 smartphones then you need to stay the hell away!

The video was a leak we weren't even supposed to know there was s off yet for our devices their developing for multiple devices I would assume so that whatever exploit they use isn't patched on everything as cool as it would be to have s off on EVO 3d and sensation right now If.they let it out those other guys who want s off for their devices that NORMALLY WOULD HAVE USED A SIMILAR ARX EXPLOIT. Would be in the boat were in now lookin at other s off devices goin man I wish we had that.... By makin it as universal as possible it services more communities for a more extended period of time

Ship soff = phone came that way just normal hboot with no radio security
Hacked is to get a hacked eng hboot (alpharevx) on our phone it essentially would serve the same purpose
