Hello all.
I recently updated to ICS Resurrection Remix v1.0 and now whenever I download torrents with my preferred torrent app (tTorrent) or any alternatives, my phone would permanently freeze whenever the screen would timeout. Sometimes if I can get the screen back up after timing out I can maintain the session but more often than not I have to force shutdown my phone and turn it back on.
It has been happening since I upgraded to this ROM and is not specific to tTorrent.. I'm also using a 32GB Class 4 microSD if that helps.
Can anyone kindly help me resolve this issue?
Thank you!
Update: Confirmed that my phone doesn't 'hang' or 'freeze' unless its display times out. I've set it to a 10 minute timeout and it's running fine.. wasn't like this before though.
hi
Have you done a proper full wipe after installing a new rom?
Hello! Yes, wipe data and cache, installed the ROM and wiped the dalvik cache.. did everything the guide told me to do.
Do you come from GB rom? Try to wipe the data of the app by titanium. Many apps force closed to me after going from gb to ics and wiping data solved my problem!
Yes I came from a Gingerbread ROM but I never restored any apps I backed up.
hi
You did not full wipe it the correct way. To do it the correct way. Go to Clockwork Mode Recovery. Then go to MOUNTS AND STORAGE. Go to FORMAT/SYSTEM and select yes. Then go to FORMAT/DATA and select yes as well. Then lastly,go to FORMAT/CACHE and select yes. REBOOT and enjoy!
Ttorrent would play for me using ICS either, I'm now using aDownloader

I'm running rooted ICS on my SGS2, have had no problem with it and have been running it for a while without any further modifications, however last night the battery went completely flat on me which hasn't happened before and after fully charging the phone, when I turn it back on it goes into a crash loop - That is no applications will start, and the screen is non responsive, then it closes TWLauncher and restarts the on screen apps again. For a few seconds the screen is responsive but whichever app I click on just says it has crashed. I can't even get it to display the Power off/reboot menu. After several cycles of this the phone completely resets.
I've removed the battery and attempted to get it into CWM but the screen just goes black when it should show CWM and then restarts after a few seconds.
Can someone please help me as I can't use my phone
I've managed to get into CWM - Backed up and then cleared cache & dalvik cache.
It went through it's "Android is upgrading" process and came up looking hopeful (Loaded a few extra bits) but then reset and is doing the exact same thing again
Any further ideas?
Factory wipe, if that fails, flash your stock ROM from odin assuming you can get onto download mode?

I was hoping that would be a plan F. I wanted to try plans B>E first if possible.
Edit: Is it possible to backup with CWM the "SD Card" section as I have no other way of backing up it's contents and would like to keep them (Photo's etc.).

wipe data, cache and dalvik cache and reboot. wiping data will not delete contents of ur sdcard.if that doesn't help copy rom files into external card and flash rom from external card by full wipe.
If your CWM recovery support usb mass storage mode, copy ur rom flashable zip into /sdcard, wipe data, wipe cache, then install zip. You should at least able to boot successfully, though all your contact, sms, apps will be gone.
Something strange happened to my S3 after a simple reboot I noticed that some app have been removed so I decided to clean my phone on the way.
I made a full wipe + everything you can think of to clean, delete, format the phone but after I install the rom I can still see my apps in the application manager and I can't get rid of them even if I uninstall them through the application manager the come back after a restart.
I tried 2 different roms but it happens on both of them, both are xxDLIB .
How to fix that?
pls help me

Try the SuperWipe from "Android Revolution HD" here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797334
Be careful, this will erase everything that is not on your external SD-card. Read the instruction first.

Are the apps system apps perchance? A wipe of data WILL wipe all user installed apps, the full wipe script alluded to doesn't do anything that you can't do manually from recovery.

So you did a full whipe but did you do also a factory reset?

Sure the apps aren't part of the ROM. Depends on what the dev has cooked into it.
Sure you're doing a full wipe vs wiping caches only.
Could also be syncing to your Google account meaning when you launch play store it automatically detects your market links and reinstalls previously installed apps

CWM Recovery mounts and storage FORMAT system cache data and preload .
That fails wipe internal sd card .
jje
explanation
I think I didn't explained my self right, these apps are "user" apps downloaded from Play store.
things I did before installing the rom:
1. factory reset from setting.
from cwm:
2. wipe data/factory reset
3. wipe cache partition
4. wipe dalvik-cache
5. wipe battery stats
5. format /cache
/system
/data
/preload
/sdcard
* also I removed the external sd.
but still I have these app "ghosts"
Then i suggest as per previous replies to the same question you are auto downloading from Google play after installing a rom .

I disabled wifi/data and sync when it ask for a wifi connection (at the openning screen of the new rom) so there is no way it somehow sync with play store.
you can see below what I mean by saying "ghosts"

I tried Omega, HyperGalaxy and WanamLite
Could possibly be a problem with your CWM installation or any dependencies such as ?busybox
Ok so I installed Samsung 4.1.1 stock rom and reinstalled CWM and afterwards install Omega rom and it worked!!!
Clean Rom Install
Many people don't exactly know what a Data Wipe / Factory reset is. NO it does not delete "all" your data on Internal SD-Card. It Deletes all you user data and settings and stuff, like it says it formats "system". For Example if you Full wipe you loose Whatsapp, but the Whatsapp folder on your internal SD-Card remains untouched, that means you can restore your Conversations with ease. This means you can cause a huge mess on your internal SD-Card over time. This is my way how to do a CLEAN install. Doing this prevents many unwanted issues like Bootloops, FC's and all those other nasty laggy ****.
1. Put new rom on EXTERNAL SD Card (if slot available)
2. Data Wipe / Factory Reset
3. Wipe Cache
4. Wipe Dalvik Cache
5. Format Internal SD card
6. Install Rom and enjoy
Keeping your personal Data on your external SD-Card is a good idea (pics, music, vids , docs ...)
[You can do this even if you don't have an ext. SD-Slot. After "cleaning" your device mount USB-Storage in CWM Recoery and you can connect to pc and pull over your rom. ]
And this is probably one of the best ways to do a clean install without aditional Scripts like superwipe or other "flashy" stuff. (DO NOT USE THOSE SCRIPTS UNLESS THEY ARE IN AN INSTALLATION GUIDE)
One addition to above format/preload as well .

Recently I flashed my phone with Cookiesandcream-quincyatt-1012 rom and my phone went all laggy and slow.
restored back to my CM10quincyatt that i had prior to cookiesandcream, and now that was acting all laggy.
I have tried several different roms(slim bean, liquid jb, cm9, cm10, and jelly beer, which seems to be working the best at least) and all of them seem to have the same issue, they act slow as soon as I use the volume rocker, and then my volume delays 10 seconds or so before it actually changes, and there not even sound coming from my phone. and is just laggy and has delays when i touch apps/settings etc.
aswell as soon as i boot up the phone after a flash, i get the gapps welcome setup screen(wifi setup, google account stuff, etc.)
i click "OK" and the button turns blue and will stay blue for 10 seconds before it actually does anything.
I have done factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, internal storage wipe.
Nothing seems to work.
It worked a tiny better after internal storage wipe, but i just need my phone in a useable state right now.
can anyone help? :s

Data.......you likely have either old data that is intended for a different architecture...
, or you are restoring data into the builds by using a restore app like titanium backup.
Several of the roms you mention are very fast and smooth when set up properly, but it is very important to clean the device before a flash, and keep it clean by installing applications from market..
Many users do restore apps via titanium backup and other applications designed to do so, but you must never restore the data associated with the apps from a previous build, unless it is the same build.
Wipe cache
Dalvik cache
data
and system...prior to any new build, and again, do not restore apps that contain data.....g

I have done all of the above many times, and installed new roms, the roms always end up laggy, the improve over time,
but once the phone restarts, it becomes laggy again.
also i have no sound coming from my phone at all.
music wont even play. I press play and it immidiatly pauses. even if i try to press play again.
and i have never used titanium backup, the only time i restore, is using the restore function in TWRP using a backup of a previous rom i had. I never ported any data from any apps using programs like that.
by the way, when i look through my mounts and storage(using CWM), it shows that all my things say "mount /efs" or "mount /data" and so on.
are all of these supposed to say unmount?
EDIT: Solved problem, Unrooted the phone using odin3 v3.04 and stock I717RUXLF4_I717RRWCLF4_I717RUXLF4_HOME.tar.md5 and re-rotting solved the problem.
Data corruption .....
I'm glad you found the cause .....g
than go flash black star, no chance of that problem
I was running AOKP 4.3 and downloaded the latest 10/30 update. I flashed in CWM recovery and everything took as normal. I wiped cache and dalvik and then rebooted. Apps updated as normal and lockscreen presented. I unlocked and immediately received two force closes (timely & swype) if I click them or not, if I unlock or not, the phone will crash and reboot every 6 or so seconds. Luckily, if I'm quick, I can reboot into recovery. I am in CWM but my external SD card won't mount so I can't load anything onto it and attempt a new flash and the only rom file on my internal SD is the one that got me in trouble here. I've gone back into recovery and attempted to wipe data/factory reset/etc. and nothing changes. Internal storage won't mount when I'm connected to my computer with a cable.
I don't mind losing everything and starting from scratch. I've tried to seek out my own info but there is SOO many threads and videos and I don't know where to start. Can someone please tell me the most efficient way to get back to a clean start? I was on JellyBeans from 1-22 and looking back that was probably more my speed. I shouldn't have tried to switch to 4.3 at all. I was able to run AOKP for about two months without issue but I seem to be out of my element here.
Can anyone smarter than me please take pity on me here? Sorry to waste your time as well.
Try just wiping the system, reflash rom and gapps. I think this keeps your apps in tact, if just not just use tb and restore. Otherwise full wipe sounds necessary, but not horrible. Just restore everything with tb
Hi All,
im trying to revive my old atrix (now have a HTC OneX as my main phone). The problem with my atrix is that every app on it is randomly popping up with a Force Close Or Wait message, this is completely random and if i click wait the app i was waiting to load normally appears.
my first theory was that there was a problem with the install so I did a hard rest, the problem continued,
second thaught was that the rom it self was damaged some how, So i followed a guide and installed Cyanogen Mod 7 with clockwork recovery, this all went well, but after booting into Cyanogen im still getting the force close issues (although it happens a lot less)
here is a list of the problems:-
1. Force close or wait messages randomly for any app it feels like including system process's
2. the camera no longer works, im assuming this is a hardware issue.
3. when updating apps the download speed is super slow sometimes it will just stop for an hour or 2 (even when on my home Fibre connection)
so what do we think? im open to suggestion and pulling this thing apart as it is basically a spare phone,
what should i do?
Cheers
Dazzler
I would try a factory reset first, if that doesn't work, the install a custom rom o reinstall the one you have
Sorry i should have put a TLDR:
TLDR - I have hard reset and installed a new ROM the problem is still there.

is there anyway to test the hardware on an android phone?
I have my suspicions that the problem could be a fault with the internal storage or RAM... but it would be nice to have a way to test it.
the weird thing is that although apps take ages to load and come up with the not responding (force close or wait screen) if I press wait 9 times out of ten the app will appear right after that message and work fine....
any one have any ideas?
Cheers
Daz
Well now i have a situation, my lovely HTC OneX has died....
so im back to using my old Atrix 4g full time, this force close issue is driving me nuts, from what i can tell every application is slow and likes to attempt a force close 2 or 3 times before it becomes usable.
I have tried a full reset, clearing caches and re flashing, still got the same problem.
does anyone know of a tool to test the internal memory of a phone? is there anyway to do a full format as such? a complete clear and start again??
any help appreciated
Thanks

you can flash an .141 full sbf and start over (unlock bootloader, flash recovery, flash custom rom) to see if that's the problem.
Another way is to format everything via cwm recovery (mounts and storage -> format /data /cache /webtop /preinstall /system) and try a custom rom freshly downloaded and with md5 checksum, to avoid download corrupted issue.

I dont have webtop listed in the mounts and storage, Im just downloading a new rom, once i have got that on the sd card, i boot into clockwork format the above and then install rom from sd card.
will give it a go!
also what is format /emmc? is that the internal storage? im assuming this is a big no no?

I don't recall (and also don't have my phone at hand) if it's called /webtop, /osh or /vendor.. Any of those will go.
yup, /emmc is what the roms see as the internal storage, don't do it unless you want to start fresh
great thanks, will give that a go!
ok so i did a clean slate install with a full format of everything and a new rom (CM9 unofficial one)
it is working better but im still getting force closes, I think my guess of something inside failing is prob about right, hopefully HTC will fix my OneX quickly....
Cheers
Darren
Glad to know that it is working, but sad to know it's getting to it's end
