there is a option on HTC that when you connect your phone to PC, it asks you one more point "connect to PC's internet". but i's interesting, if is that possible on ACE.
Sorry for my bad English (((
Check USB tether on market ;-)

Some networks don't let you use your laptop etc..to connect to the internet via your phone unless you pay extra.
My ace is locked to three there is a option in setting to Tether via usb or wifi but no mater winch setting i use it will not work.
However on my old HTC HD touch generic i can connect my usb cable to my laptop and go on-line with the same sim. Iam going to try and branded my ace once i know how.

Not share you Phone internet, but PC internet to Phone.
CHEERS!
What about sharing the connection by WiFi? Through Ad-Hoc?
I know that there's an option in Linux, but I'm not so sure for Windows.
Rufus87
Try to download Connectify and turn your laptop into access point (if your wifi card supports it). Anyway, buying wifi access point is the best solution.
adeklipse
In Windows he can set up ad hoc network, but Ace doesn't support it. I tried to look for working edited wpa_supplicant file, but i didn't find it.
Devs any hope for this yet?

Virtual WiFi adapter for Windows 7
You could also change your WiFi adapter into a virtual WiFi Miniport and share the internet connection if you have windows 7.. It acts as a Wireless access point and also please note that your hardware should support in order to create a virtual WiFi.. Just follow these instructions..
http://mintywhite.com/windows-7/set-windows-7-wifi-hotspot-quick-tip/
+1 mr., been +1ing twice tonight.. I also had this issue, decided to stop my ace's data plan and my brother had a decent connection on the desktop. Sadly it was our all time fav Win XP and we're too lazy to add a WIFI/WLAN card to it.
Maybe having a Terminal Emulator (since we can't do any adb commands when tethering) to establish an interface/eth0, activating the USB tether (not the wireless) and configuring a connection on the Windows would help? I've tried that, but met no luck on Windows part.
I used reverse usb tethering on galaxy mini before purchase ace. Its simple script to give usb0 ip address and some setting on gateway, dns.

does anyone got a solution for reverse tethering ?
i had a htc wildfire S and it has an option "Relais internet" it appears auto when usb cable connected. it connects my phone to computers internet.
Iam really so disappointed to don't see this feature on SGS2
and PLZZZZZZZZZ for people who ask why don't use wifi.
well I have a 3G connexion in my computer ( no rooter just a usb 3G network adapter). and my computer wireless card intel 4965AGN IT DOESNT SUPPORT hosted network which means no way to create a wifi hotspot (or use connectify or virtual rooter because its the same thing as creating a hosted network)
ad-hoc network can't be detected also with my sgs2 with official firmware JB 4.1.2 (XWLSD)
could anyone help please.
Thank you

Well there was a "reverse tether" app...
I had it but haven't tried it anytime coz I don't have internet on my PC anymore...so don't know for sure if it works..
It might just work for you...
I know this is very frustrating..has happened to me too when I had just purchased the phone...hadn't got any solution at that time so ended up purchasing a WiFi router..
Press thanx if I helped...

Try this thread (don't know if this works on SGS2 or not as I've never tried/needed it, but it's a good starting point for you to investigate further).

[Q] Cannot detect/connect to PC Wifi Hotspots

Well I have tried creating Wifi Hotspot both on Ubuntu and Windows XP but my SGS II just doesn't detect them.
It works well with the router wifi at my home and office, but not hotspots
I was following a video on youtube which shows creating hotspot using 'Connectify' and connect SGS 2 to it. The difference between that S II and mine is probably Android 2.3.4 and 2.3.3, respectively
Tried changing the wifi security modes too, though that wouldn't help much since it doesn't even detect them.
My sister's Motorola defy just works fine with those hotspots.
PS: Even my Samsung galaxy Note is not able to detect the hotspots
What needs to be changed on my device to get it working ??
i have the same problem but nothing yet....and i see nobody here know the answer.........this will be the reason for getting an other phone...back to powerfull MOTOROLA!!!!
Well it's inherent to android. Android cannot connect to ad hoc wifi networks.
Motorola defy does maybe because they have changed something to support this.
After I installed custom build on Motorola Defy for ICS it too stopped working.
It doesn't work on LG Optimus 2x
So this particular thing is not a valid reason for buying a new phone
I do this ask the time, adhoc don't work but connectify with normal security works fine

I'm assuming that you are not rooted, this means that you cannot connect to adhoc networks. So use infrastructure mode on connectify.
But before you do anything, update your wifi drivers for your computer. Trust me this helps.

unable to tether

hi - hoping someone can help me
i am trying to tether with my samsung s2 -
when i connect it via my laptop - it connects to the device and also shows on the network page as connected to the internet- however whenever i try and access the internet it fails- i have tried on a few devices and seem to be getting the same issue.
Are you trying house the laptops internet on the S2. Because the S2 only lets you use the 3G from the S2 to connect to the laptop. One way tether if you know what I mean.

How are you trying to accomplish tethering? What exact model phone do you have? What country are you in? Who is your carrier? Do they allow tethering?
You need to provide more information.

Could be a million things going wrong...password, diff key algorithm, MAC address filtering (if he has it enabled on the router).
You need to do more troubleshooting before asking the question...give the forum a starting point.
Check to see if your phone supports the type of the router.
For example, if your router is N and you phone only supports g/b, it won't work.
Check if the router supports as many devices are connected
is it normal that my ip address in wifi settings is unavailable ??

I guess it is since you haven't connected to a network that would have assigned you an IP address.

Ummm...NO. N is backwards compatible, both on 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

It would help to have more information about the way the router is set up, etc. Can other phones connect to it? Are you getting any error messages?
I bought a used WRT54GS a few weeks ago and couldn't get my phone connected over WiFi until I updated the firmware. You may want to look into that. It said it was connecting and then said disconnected. It never said it was connected though.
Once I got the new firmware installed then I was able to connect, encrypt the connection, etc.

~ we already updated the firmware but still got the problem .. we've done all troubleshooting we can do .. i even change my rom and kernel but nothing happens .. other device can connect to his router, mine was the only one that can't connect ...
btw i can connect to other wifi .. i guess the problem is in the router ?
Well, at least you know it's not your phone ...

Sorry to hear that.
If other devices can connect to it and yours can't, even with different ROMs and kernels, then it looks like this particular router just doesn't like your phone/setup for some reason. Especially since you can connect to other WiFi units.
Very frustrating.
If the router is set up to allow enough connections and isn't filtering out your phone's ==> WiFi <== MAC address then I don't know what else can be wrong.
Hope you can find a workaround, but I can't think of anything else at the moment.
