The Touchwiz ICS leaked for AT&T this week doesn't have the stock google ICS calendar or launcher (boo..).
However I found they are on Google play as someone with an S2, frustrated at the touch wized ICS, has just extracted the code for the ICS Launcher and Calendar.
You do not need to root to add these. they are normal apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.calendar
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...iwiY29tLmNvbmNlbnRyaWNsaXZlcnMubGF1bmNoZXIiXQ..
These were developed and work on the S2.
I'm not on AT&T Note - I'm international - so I can't test on the touch wized ICS yet for Galaxy note.
Can someone please test these work on the Note with touch wiz ICS? Interested in knowing it they work with the full HD screen.
If it works this could mean the best of both worlds... Touch wiz and the best of stock ICS. I'm probably going to be proved wrong here...

Seems to work find on my GNote, but to be honest, the new Calendar that came with the ICS leak is more functional. It also integrate better with the S-Pen.

thanks.
is it full screen? - can you post a screenshot maybe.
What's changed in the new touch wiz Calendar then, I thought it was the same as before apart from more widgets?
I can't get the S-Pen to read my handwriting.
seems to work
The ICS Calendar seems to work, I haven't fiddled with it too much but it loads, and the widget works on the homescreen and doesnt crash. I'll update if i runn into problems.
The is gallery works as well (for viewing)
Doesn't work well for setting wallpaper tho
Thur u arrrrrrgh
The ics launcher is a 4x4 Grid and leaves a lot of empty spaces on the edge and top.

Here's a screenshot.
The new ICS touchwiz Calendar looks the same as the GB version but adds pinch to zoom and attaching S-Notes. So it covers some of the features that were touted in the ICS calendar.
The handwriting recognition for the S-Pen has always sucked.
Thanks!
So happy to have the stock calendar- I don't like the look of the touchwizzed version...

Note the international GB version already has pinch to zoom
Here are the screenshots. The Calendar on the leaked version looks better and has better functionality for the Note i717.

I see what you mean. Its at the lower level I think the stock calendar has better functionality - the pinch to zoom is more powerful I think especially at the day level.
Also the month overview at least shows you how full your month is
plus whoever choose the large font size for the TW calendar that ,means every word is cut off ,should be shot.

Hi,
is there a working TouchWiz5 for the SGS3 with 5 lines in the homescreen available? Sad to have such a big Display and only 4 lines available for the Widgets
I only found ports for the Galaxy Note or other phones, which are to big or to small for the SGS3 ...
Another row (and column) would be perfect... Is there a simple hack for that?

Send me your launcher, I can try to mod it for you. Ill just have to snap together an emulator
I think you can find it on themes & Apps forum
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...me-galaxy-s5-tw-launcher-accuweather-t2678617
Do you want the stock 4.3 look ? If I remember well, there is one too, but this is lot faster and, in my opinion, classier .
I had a rom installed on my Tab which allowed it to run multiple apps at the same time in a kind of split screen mode. (up to 3 apps if i remember correctly). I want to install this rom but totally forgot its name and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know the name of this rom/mod?
I don't want to hear answers like "Use overskreen"... It was true multitasking with every app supported.

Are you talking about running multiple apps side by side? There aren't any ROMs for ICS or JB that I am aware of that permit this function. I know the new Galaxy Tab Note 10.1 has this functionality and it looks wicked cool!
On the factory-based ROMs for ICS you can use widgets from the Navigation Bar that will overlay email, calendar and notes widgets on top of the app that you are in, but I'm guessing you are talking about something else.

Yes, there really was a ROM which allowes running 3 apps side by side but I don't rember if it was Gingerbread or ICS. I think it was a AOKP based ROM. I had it installed on my tablet and it worked.
Found it. It's name is Onskreen Cornerstone. And the ROM I tested was AOKP based. I think it was a build by Roman the AOKP guy.(http://onskreen.com/cornerstone/index.php)
But I sill haven't found the ROM again.

Yesterday I was finally eligible for an upgrade so I made a trip down to my local Best Buy and traded my iPhone 4S(which they gave me $220 for) in and got the One. Loving it so far. I can't see myself going back to iOS ever. Lol. But getting to my question, while using my One I received a text from an iPhone that contained an emoji. The One processed the emoji and changed it to a Android style black and white(I'm not sure if this is a sense only thing or if it's android wide) but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get them in my keyboard. Anyone know how of if you can even do this? Thanks in advance.
Long press the bottom left button with the smiley and 12# on it. Brings up emojis

Besides those 18 is it possible to get the black and white iOS compatible emoji? The emoji that come stock on the one shop up as and stuff on the iPhone and other devices.

You can down load an emoji pack from the market. I know go sms has one with the go keyboard. May be others also not sure.

I'm fairly certain emoji's are built into 4.2, which every nexus device is running. We're running 4.1, though an update is expected eventually. I wouldn't get so worked up about this lacking feature, android users don't really use emoji's compared to iPhone users. It's gimmicky, annoying, and the fact that you can't see them unless you install emoji's is stupid (which makes native compatibility between android devices nonexistent, besides 4.2) . The desktop web is being flooded with squares.
I know what you speak of, I tried them all and there's some that don't work because were not on 4.2.2 like the smiley face that's sleeping. But 90% do. But if you flash the 4.2.2 emoji keyboard from here youll be good to go, just switch back and forth when needed, just like a Nexus. But yes in Stock AOSP android like a nexus, they are b/w which is a small trade off for having them at all IMO. Also with this keyboard youll be able to use it in any app, like twitter, instagram etc.

Will this fix the crap emjois that can't be disabled in the SMS app?
Ok so I'm in the market for a large phone and I decided to get this one used. Spent about 200 on a decent one. Im planning on unlocking it and rooting it so that I can flash away. However I notice that you lose some features Samsung pushes when you refrain from stock ROMs ( i had a S2 and I would lose all those special features when switching to custom non stock ROMs). So does the same rule apply here in regards to the S pen?

There is like 1 or 2 custom roms with s-pen features. They are based on android version 4.1.2 and have touchwiz in the framework. Any 4.2 roms won't have touchwiz or s-pen features. The pen still works on them to write. But the button and gestures are limited.

you clearly have never flashed carbon, or cm10.1 ...
im not sure which others, but both of those support s-pen button gesture support, and allow for plenty of note apps from the market
Thanks were given to both of you. I can't wait until my note comes in. You guys have any tips or can you enlighten me on any persistent problems? Ill be using Tmo services on the Note btw.

Possible problems will depend on the roms/kernels and other mods that you are going to apply to your phone. It will be best for you to read and research the roms/kernels and other mods you are planning to use before diving in.
If you want stock-based roms, you can go to the dev section and try Padawan or Blackstar. They are both very popular.
Like Jamie mentioned, non-stock-based roms may have some/similar s-pen gestures. Some people prefer the stock s-pen setup, some don't. I personally used to prefer to stick with stock-based roms for the stock s-pen features, but not anymore. I just found that I can place a widget (google keep, evernote or sticky note, and others) or a shortcut to a note-taking app (papyrus) for quick note-taking.
I only use the pen for notetaking and drawing. The s-memo app is nothing to cheer for.
Since you spend most of your phone time doing other things, base your rom choice on the features that you like . . . and just use an app you like for notes and drawing.
Use papyrus and apex launcher for double tap on home screen and you will be fine

Dear HTC One users,
I was one of the enthusiast who loved HTC Sense. But on HTC One, I am hating day by day. I can live with other problems but one with their lock screen is killing me. I can't use apps like DashClock widget or ActiveNotifications.
I want to ask you, is there an alternative to by-pass that lock screen ? I would love old-school default android lock screen.
If not, then what ROM are you guys using ? I remember reading it somewhere that CyanogenMod eats up HTC One's battery and it was suggested not to install it. I saw another ROM name as PAC, really liked it but i don't like the concept of tablet UI on phones.
What ROM would you guys preger.

Sounds like you're a perfect candidate to flash a Google Edition ROM on your phone. The newest version based on Android 4.3 just came out a week ago, here is a flashable stock rooted version. The Google Edition ROMs for the One are made by HTC directly and they give the look and functionality of an AOSP ROM. Since the ROM is made by HTC, everything works nicely (including Beats, camera and IR blaster in the newest 3.06.1700.10 build) and battery life is just as good as Sense, maybe even a tad better based on some reviews. There are also custom tweaked version of the Google Edtion ROMs in the International One section.

Most, if not all, of the ROMs from the International section work on all variants of the One (except for the CDMA/Sprint version) so you are good to go. You might need to put in the APN settings for your particular carrier if they aren't included in the ROM.

I thought 4.2.2 adds the ability to use lock screen widgets like DashClock (you have to select "Widget" in lock screen type and I think you may be limited to just one widget). Not sure about ActiveNotifications.
If that's not enough, sounds like you need a custom ROM.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I believe 4.2.2 on the HTC One w/Sense does allow one lockscreen widget if you select the "Widget" lockscreen in settings. Try it. I can test later, but I quite like the "Productivity" lock screen that HTC provides.

I installed that ROM on my HTC One, and lets just say the battery life was pretty bad. The battery life would drop pretty fast just from browsing the web and viewing social media. Not to say 4.3 is bad at all.

In those settings chose the one all the way to the right. It's called widget lockscreen. Unfortunately only allows for one widget. No swipe left or right like aosp lockscreen.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Or you could install an app like Widget locker and replace the sense based one with the default Android one
The screen they are referring to is in Settings...Personalize...Lock Screen Style....Then chose Widget. Like they said above it allows for ONE widget, and that can be Dashclock if you want
When flashing roms it's generally best to use the Rom for a few days before judging battery life.
I've noticed some roms got better over time and usually your first charge is spent tinkering and configuring your phone.
