Samsung Apps ICS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Ok so i launched samsung apps in the rom. And i was browsing through the s-pen apps ad saw omni sketch. When i went to go download it, the play store said the app is not compatible with your device? Wth wasnt it made to be used with galaxy note spen? Whats going on? Same with some other apps as well.

This isnt happening to anybody else? Nobody knows a fix?

I pulled up the Samsung Store on the market and it says it needs a update to the tablet mode. Did you guys change your DPI settings?

I haven't touched my dpi settings at all yet..mainly because I don't know what I am doing with it.

The same issue here. Strangely, some apps from it install, while others give the "not compatible with your device" message.

Yep - Same here. Even S Memo says its not compatible with my device.

Weird, photoshop touch said the same thing, but I was able to side load it with no problem.

I changed my dpi to 213 for tablet mode, installed then went back to 244 dpi and still works. For the crayola game that was on stock and was now missing on ICS.

"Not compatible with you device" I get that with the Titanium Pro key. I don't know why screen density would mess with a key.

hmm titanium key is working for me. idk why its happening to you

[Q] Words with Friends broken since TW Update

Ever since I updated WWF after the TW update, I get an error connecting to the servers and can't play any games. I have tried a forced close and clearing cache. anyone else having problems with this? If so, does anyone have any solutions?

I had to update in the market place to fix mine. Works perfect now.

I played last night and everything worked great, even got push notifications for the first time. WWF definitely needs a paid version for android to get rid of those annoying adds.
That and I can receive chat messages but I can't send them.

after doing the update from the market, i was able to send messages. I couldn't do anything without it FC or giving me network error message from the version that was loaded with Touchwiz.
How did you guys get the version from the market to update the TW version? When i go out to the Market "Open" is the only option I get.
when you go into settings>applications what version do you have installed? I am running 3.61
Mine shows up as 3.59. Funny thing is that the Market version says 3.61 but "open" is the only option I get.

Try clearing the cache for your market and see if it will come up
Mine is version 3.59 as well.
Same issue when I go to the market.
I just emailed the dev.
When are these adds going to be dealt with?

I removed my stock version and installed it again from the market. I pulled and zip the apk. Extract and install from from your sdcard.
I can't try it right now, but I will check it out later. Thanks for taking the time!

Naked, work was blocking the download. After getting impatient I tried logging into the Android market on my PC and forcing an install on my tablet. It worked like a charm! I am now running 3.61. I am testing it now, but I have yet to get an error.

Sweet, glad you got it working. Good idea on doing the web page market and forcing the upgrade. I'll keep that in mind in the future.
I have seen often programs not able to update properly when they are located /system/app. Since the it was part of the upgrade to TW, they have it located there.
The install from Market worked great for me as well.
Never knew you could do that.

TripleTapper, can you please explain more? Now do you "force install" from the market? It just tells me that my Nook Color is incompatible with the app, and the buttons are greyed out.
Thanks.
I just opened the Market using the browser on my PC. When I do that and search for Words for Friends I click on install. It then gives me an option to install onto my various Android devices by selecting it from a pull down. My Galaxy Tab comes up as Samsung GT-P7510.
Words has been working flawlessly now! : )

Some apps in market not compatible?

I've noticed with a few apps I've gotten "Your device is not compatible with this item" I have gotten around that by finding upload links in threads but what is the real work around for this? I know for a fact that the app it told me wasnt compatible actually works.

The answer most likely is that the Samsung Galaxy i777 is so new right now
that when developers create the code to their apps most likely are required to
enter or add into their app coding and or database the exact phone names
and models to which they are compatible with before the market allows the
people to download it...........
Just a way to keep the market safer and from getting thousands of complaints
damm , and I wanted to try that wifikill app. Hopefully the creator has a direct link in his thread on xda.
Someone said in that app thread that its because I may have changed my dpi settings, and I did in the build.prop file but I changed it back and I'm still getting the error so I think Misterjunky is correct.

What would the pixel density have to do with any of that? That absolutely is not true as I have the ATT version of the phone and my room mate has the Epic 4G Touch version of this phone. Both are rooted and his is still stock ROM mine is listed below in my signature. My Pix density is 200 and his is stock 240. Both of our markets show as having not compatible apps for our phones such as Adobe Flash and Netflix...Yet We both have the apps on our phones just older versions. When you search them out they are there and claim to have updates but will not let you install. I flashed the UnNamed 1.0.3 ROM to my phone just a few days ago I did a wipe and reset of the phone, after rebooting and customizing (including changing the build.prop file for density) for a short period of time I was able to search out and update Adobe Flash to version 11 and the latest version of Netflix. I go back after a few hours and restoring from TIBU and noticed one of my apps "Make your clock" was the old version I had in my backups that I must have restored over the newer version downloaded earlier in the day from the market updates. I went to update the app and I was not able to do it, now it is not compatible with my phone. I thought at first it was just paid type apps that were doing this and then I investigated and noticed the Flash and Netflix apps were in the list. That threw out any type of security issues that may be trying to be implemented on paid apps now. But is may be something to do with files or sizes related to TIBU and restoring files from backups.
I can confirm that some of the apps in the market will show as incompatible when you change your LCD density. This may not be the only reason, but I have seen this behavior on the Facebook, Skype and YouTube apps.
I just set my density back to 240, restarted, downloaded/updated, then changed back. It's sort of irritating, but until there's a way to override the compatibility check, i think we just live with this work around.

Well I just did the same exact thing you just described and can reconfirm it is still not working with apps installed on my phone. But have not ran into any issue with installing any new appsnot previously installed or restored. Have you or do you use TIBU to backup or restore apps or are you straight stock loading apps from the market directly?

Yeah, like I said. There might be more than one problem. This is just the one that worked for me.
Before I figured it out, I had been restoring (old versions) apps using Titanium without any issue. It's a shame that the market compatibility detection is not quite accurate and there's no way to tell the Market "no really, my phone is compatible."

i bought it a little bit ago for my tp and it went fine. i've not had any problems with the .10c apps downloading, tbh.
I have the default alpha3 build.prop and it installs fine.
All you have to do is purchase it from another android device and then go to the TP's market app and go to "my apps", then go download at the end of the list and find "Not Installed" purchased apps. HD Widgets should be there.

I dont remember seeing tablet widgets in their android market screenshots but if they exist and are tablet-only widgets you will have to wait for ICS. Currently our Touchpad run a phone version of android and so cant run anything that uses tablet APIs (Honeycomb and ICS can run these).

[Q] App required screen size, work around for Note?

There are some apps in the Play Store that I would like to use on my Note. Unfortunately they have restrictions like screen res. and physical screen size. One such app requires a screen size of at least 8.9", but the resolution requirement is the same as our Note.
Is there anyway to "fake" it so I can get the app?

Unfortunately, 1 doesn't mean anything to me. I'm newish to Android. I had a tablet briefly (had to return it) and in that time purchased the app I'm talking about, but because I don't have that app, I don't really have a way to get the app on the Note.
When I had the tablet, I was able to side load it onto another device. But as I said, I don't have the tablet, so I'm looking for an alternative method. I've been considering Rooting and flashing ICS anyways. But if this app doesn't work, I might not bother. Or rather, if I have no way to "get" the app.
Thanks though. I do appreciate the response because it continues the searching and thinking process for me.
What is this mystery app? I am running tablet mode on my note (213 dpi on CM9) and would be more than happy to see if it comes up as available for install. Have you also tried going to the market through a web browser and seeing what it says?

Haha. No real mystery I guess, but I wasn't sure what would get discussed here or if it might be against policy. The app is Adobe Ideas which was updated to 1.5.1 and works with the upcoming gNote 10.1. So, I was curious if it shows up with a rooted and ICS'd gNote 5.3 with the proper "dpi" as you put it. After that, it's a matter of figuring out with the pressure sensitivity works with the app.
When I visit the store through the web browser it says it's only compatible with the tablet I returned. I haven't rooted and ICS'd my Note yet. If this app works though, it would push me over the edge to do it.
It won't come up in the market thru app on my note. Through browser says compatible with some of my devices. Without hitting the purchase button I am going to wager a guess that it is compatible with my Transformer but not my Note.

Well, that's a bummer that it doesn't show up. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work.
So changing dpi is generally what you would do to make tablet apps show up? So back to the original question. Is there a way to get around this app not showing up in the store?

I'm still running touchwiz but am using nova launcher. I adjusted my DPI but all the touchwiz elements, like phone and calculator, are kinda wacked up, any way to fix that?
Oh, and chrome is a little off too, like the tab button.
Word of advice - NO MATTER what I did, changing the DPI on my S4 (and possibly all phones) always causes issues. I have spent the past week experimenting with trying to make it work right. If you change the overall phone DPI in the build.prop (I have tried 320, 420, 440, 460), you WILL trigger the Market issues with certain apps no longer showing up for you in a search- unless you type the name in the search but then select the actual item from the predictive box below (instead of actually searching). But, even after you are brought to the page, at the top you will still get the 'incompatible with your device' message and cannot download or update on the phone. Trying to do it on a desktop PC in the Store also does not work. So far, this happened to me with YouTube, Google Keyboard, and a few other Google or common apps.
I tried several methods of modding the market or different apps that have supposed options for spoofing what DPI the Play Store sees, but in the end, the issue always came back, every time eventually (may take a reboot or two). Clearing data on Google Framework and Play Store and clearing cache/Dalvik cache never is a permanent fix, it will always recognize it eventually.
Oh and also, there were always a few apps that would become wonky looking or cut off, like the stock Samsung camera and gallery apps, among others.
In the end, the only thing that worked is to leave the overall DPI alone, and just adjusting the DPI of certain apps individually using something like Hyperdrive Control in the Hyperdrive ROM or equivalent app (I ended up just changing the DPI of Nova Launcher and nothing else- at least the launcher/icons then can become smaller resolution).
If there IS a method that works and does not cause this issue in the Store eventually, please let me know! I tried em all!
To the above poster:
First off - calm down. Everything will be alright
Here's how to change the DPI without issue.
1. Edit build.prop to desired value. Do not reboot. (I like 400)
2. Download a multi DPI play store. (Google for an xda link. I use inverted multidpi)
3. Reboot to recovery and flash multidpi play store. Reboot.
2. Use any launcher except TouchwizHome
3. Install the xposed framework and per app DPI module.
4. Set all the Samsung apps to the stock 480 dpi
Easy.

Hey. There's a much easier way of you want to adjust specific apps
1) Download/install the Xposed framework
2) Download/install App Settings
From there, you can pick from the list of apps and change dpi to whatever you want. On the phone now so I don't have links but do a quick search. The App Settings for the AT&T S4 works for ours.

To people who do not know that changing DPI affects some Play Store apps like this.
And your method may work, but it's tedious to have to change every Samsung app's individual DPI afterward, and also you won't always get the latest Play Store update until the newest version is again manually modded for multi-DPI. But yes, doable.

Oh. I see what you meant. Just say "for those unaware" lol. The phrase "don't know any better" doesn't apply as you are referring to knowlege rather than behavior
And there's no "may" about it. It does work. It worked on my galaxy nexus, and it works on my S4.
And I've never had a problem getting the newest play store update. The thread I get them from is pretty on top of it.
Unfortunately manually setting the DPI for Samsung apps is the only way unless you want to hack apart the apk and deal with overall buggyness. Samsung is lazy and only cares to make the app work for one device... Unlike play store apps.
I really don't think the initial two minutes of my time to fix the 4 or 5 samsung apps that have issues is that big of a deal.

I used the tool too, but play store wont start.
What dpi setting you use for play store ? I tried 480 and 320.
Not sure if you have fixed this issue yet, but newer ROMs for the T-Mobile and AT&T S4 variants us ethe Exposed Framework. From there you can use a module called Play Store Fixes (follow directions). Manually change the DPI setting in the build.prop and reboot. Mine is set to 320 and I can see everything in the playstore.
Current ROM: Danvdh-GE-4.4.2-01232014b
AT&T S4 unlocked on T-Mobile's LTE network
Galaxy S4 4.4.2 stock phone DPI change
Hi everyone,
I have the Omega ROM v20 (4.4.2) installed on my galaxy s4 i9500. It came with the Xposed installer 2.5.1 and the App Settings 1.8. I have already installed the framework in the Xposed installer and selected the app settings under the modules and rebooted the device.
I have changed the phone's DPI to 320 form the original 480 by manually updating the build.prop file in /system. A few Samsung apps, including the touch wiz, the calculator and some others started acting up and pieces where out of place. I managed to fix all of that by migrating to the Apex launcher and also the extensive use of the DPI changing feature of the App Settings application.
The DPI changing utility seems to be working on every application, including the Google play app store, but not for the phone app. Even though the App Settings says that the 480 DPI has been applied to the phone application the dialer and its pieces once launched are still out of place. The phone application on the ROM is the stock samsung 4.4.2 i9500 phone app and I have tried it every which way but still no go!
I was wondering if another application's DPI also needs to be changed for it to work or maybe I have ran into an App Settings bug of some kind!
Any help would be most appreciated
Many thanks
