(Q-View) Exhibit II 4g faster than View? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I bought a Tmobile Samsung Exhibit II 4g so I could connect my View 4G tablet to its mobile hotspot. I was using a prepaid plan so it didn't really work out for me. I was required to purchase an extra $15 mobile hotspot service in order to enable this simple native feature. I know, there's probably an app to bypass this in the Android Market, but I'm sick of researching and failing. So basically I'm returning this kind of neat, somewhat inexpensive phone. During my time with the Exhibit II 4g, I noticed how fast it surfed the internet on WiFi and on 4g. Honestly, it puts my View (hc) to shame. Once you've seen fast, you can't unsee it. Which brings me to my question - Why is my really cool HTC View slower on the internet (using WiFi) than the Samsung Exhibit II 4g? The tablets specs aren't faster than the cheapo phone?

Why do people want a 3g tablet with all these 4 LTE phones.

Europe doesn't have LTE And tether sucks battery faster than any game
But I don't need any kind of mobile connectivity anyway on my Prime, HSPA tether is enough

anyone who buys a 3G tablet likes wasting money or has so much they don't know what to do with free Wi-Fi/USB/Bluetooth tether from smartphone is the only way to go even my 55 year old father knows as much

Yea, I hotspot from my phone now, but if money was no object I'd prefer the setup I previously had with my xoom.

It would be nice, if money was no object. But given that it is, I'm happy tethering my phone; I don't have cause to use my tablet outside of Wi-Fi enabled areas enough to warrant another data plan.
in maine we will not have 4 lte anytime soon, so up here getting some thing lte is a waste.
Because companies like Verizon and At&t limit you to 2GB a month and there's no way you could share the connection with your phone AND tablet for a whole month and not go over that limit?
3G tablet plans cost too much. I just tether to my Galaxy Note as well.
My area doesn't have LTE support. The service providers only just installed new towers a few months ago, and before that my devices were struggling for a signal. What's the point in an LTE device if the most you'll get is hspa?

I am with T-Mo so LTE is not an option, though speeds are acceptable. I would be willing to shell out a bit for 3G on the tablet for the convenience factor. Since I already have a wi-fi only TP though I am not going to buy another tablet just for 3G.

Prior to my contract with Verizon its unlimited and they offer 10 gigs for $50 now which is more than enough. Downloading avg of 18mb a sec its wonderful. Tethering is a dream with my gaze rooted.

It depends on how you use your tablet. If you're home or around places with decent Wi-Fi 80% of the time I agree with you. I travel a lot and anyone who does knows you can't depend on Wi-Fi. At hotels, restaurants, or airports.
So you can either get a 3/4G tablet or tether. Tethering is a pain in the ass. Get out the phone, turn on sharing, connect the tablet, disconnect the tablet, turn off sharing. Forget the latter any your phone's battery is hosed. It's hosed anyway because you can literally watch it run down when Wi-Fi sharing's enabled.
Here's some of the advantages of 3/4G:
- Your tablet's always online and can receive e-mails and messages continually.
- You can just flip it open and use it without having to wait for a gazillion background process to all finish competing for the Wi-Fi signal at the same time.
- Your phone's battery is spared the torture of Wi-Fi (or BT) sharing so it's available for calls when you need it.
- You can split your data across multiple devices. For $20 a month on AT&T (they think it's a non-smartphone) my tablet uses 6ishGB of data. I use 4-6GB on my phone too. I'd get flagged and put on a tiered plan if I didn't have seperate devices so it's actually cheaper to have two data plans.
While it's not for everybody it has its advantages. I wouldn't personally own a non-3/4G tablet.
A dialogue between me and my employer.
Employer: Why didn't you get a tablet with 3G/4G built in?
ME:*holding up phone* Do you want to expense two data plans?
Employer: Point taken.
I can leave my wifi tether on literally all day and do very little harm to the battery. Tmobile G2 (HSPA+ 15down2up)
Also there is no conflict with Tmobile's data and phone services. I can answer a call without interrupting my connection.
The trick is to be reasonable about your expectations.
IE: dont stream HD youtube all day, or you'll kill the phone.
I use a 4G (has 3G support) Hotspot device instead of buying additional data plans for various devices.
While I could tether to my phone which is still 3G, when I am in the field, I normally need my phone while using data at the same time and tether would also reduce the battery of the phone quicker as well.
With the 4G hotspot, I can tether up to 5 devices at the same time which includes not only tables, slates, netbooks, notebooks, regular desktops with a WiFi adapter but also even my phone which still has 3G.
In my field kit, I carry a battery unit which will power the 4G hotspot for more than 14 hours continuously, so I can do data for longer than most of the device I could connect to it without AC power.
I can and have many times provided data access to people who were with me who had only WiFi enabled devices securely as well.
Most of the time, I just turn the hotspot on, and stick it in my pocket and have hi-speed Wifi available where I am walking.
I don't use free Unsecure WiFi hotspots.. only secure WiFi connections

[Q] Quick games question (Samsung Exhibit II)

Eventually, I'm going to get a Galaxy Nexus or the next latest and greatest - a few months down the line. Right now I've got Cricket and a Huawei Ascend II. The problem? The thing is so slow when it comes to games. Hanging with Friends, of all things, slows down and I have to close it. It's got a 600 mhz processor in it.
So I was thinking about switching to T-Mobile prepaid but didn't want to throw a ton of money at a phone right now. 4G (or rather, HSPA+ I guess) is a must because I want some decent speeds when I can. More than anything, I don't want games to be so damn slow.
I'm not gonna game a lot. Just Hanging with Friends and things like that, and I need a faster connection than Cricket's terrible 3G. Is the 1 ghz processor in the Samsung Exhibit II suitable for my needs? If not, is there anything else that I could use T-Mobile prepaid that won't be much more than $200? I need HSPA+ at the very least.
EDIT: And if not, are there any dual-core phones that are "4G (hspa+)" that will work on T-Mobiles prepaid without getting much higher than $200-$250?

LTE speeds or Wifi when using as a hotspot?

When using the Note as a hotspot... Are you getting 4G LTE or WiFi speeds?
Getting a new IPad and was wondering what would be better... Using the Note as a hotspot or getting a dedicated 4G iPad?
Can't reapply tell you exact speeds, but when I tethered I got enough speed to stream videos and browse the Web. Definitely not worth the extra money for an iPad with 4g plus the extra days plan. That's silk I can tell you.
Sent from the best phone in the world Galaxy Note!!!
Not sure what you mean by "Wifi" speeds (as the theoretical maximum speed of 802.11n is way faster than current LTE speeds), but the Note will transmit at whatever speed it is connected at. If you do a speed test on the Note, and get, for example, 25Mbps/10Mbps, you will get similar speed test results on your laptop, or whatever else you tether to your phone.

I'm doing the same thing. Got a Note and a 16gb wifi "new iPad, lol". However my area does not have LTE until around June. I seem to be getting similar results. Like if I'm in a area and getting 9mbps on my phone via HSPA+ I get basically the same via if I use the note as a hot spot using speed test to check on my iPad, get all that lol?. As long as your phone is close to your iPad.
Only upside I see of having a 4g iPad is not using juice from your note. But again the 129 extra for a 4g iPad is convience. But me personally paying two data plans as it is, me and my GF I'd never pay another lol.
Depends how often you plan to use the iPad via 4g. If only here and there deff get the wifi only.
I don't think there is any speed or data drop off using it as a hotspot if that's what your asking.

Best at&t Android Phone WITHOUT 4g/LTE

I have a Samsung captivate that is definitely on its last leg. Broken screen, disfunctional speaker, turns off, etc. However I can't upgrade because if I do I lose my $15 unlimited data. (MediaNet with smartphone exclusion)
Im told that hspa+ would work but LTE would automatically change my internet plan. So what is the best at&t Android phone that does not have lte?
PS. I acknowledge "best" is an opinion. Just looking for a short list really. Good hardware , root able, and development support
Spend the extra bit and get a GSM Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store. Works just fine on AT&T, I've never had a problem and HSPA is plenty fast.

[Q] Can you use the DNA on walmarts my family mobile?

its finally time to replace my HD2, Ive run every rom under the sun for it and been extremely happy with it over the years but i finally cracked the screen! Anyhow Ive always loved HTC's lineup but it seems to REALLY get what i want i end up switching carriers every couple years! the wife and i recently switched over to my family mobile with a new galaxy S II for her and Ive been eying htc's new lineups like the one series. Almost bought a euro quad core one X then did some research and saw it would only work on the edge network now the new DNA is everything im looking for but am i gonna run into any issues with this setup now? biggest concern is the my family mobile kit uses a standard sim card and the DNA uses the micro sim correct? great 3G coverage in my area and with the new service and im always on the WIFI so 4G isn't all that important to me (yet) so if this phone will work unlocked on t-mobiles walmart my family mobile at 3G speeds I'd be happy with that! thanks guys for any info!
I haven't checked all the details, but it should work. Many people have put AT&T and t-mo sim cards into this phone and its worked without a problem. You won't have 4g lte, but people have posted 10+ mbps speeds on t-mo so it will still be plenty fast.
