Hi guys...
I have some problem on my Vibrant of Android Market App not connecting (due to some unknown reason with my Google account). So, I decided to download and install Clockwork ROM Manager manually. I did so successfully. Now, I cannot figure out how to install Clockwork Recovery? The official site just gives me a .zip file. I don't know what to do with this .zip file. And I cannot download it from within CW ROM Manager, it gives some internet error...
If someone can guide me step by step, it would be awesome...
Thanks a lot in advance...

extract the contents of the .zip to anywhere on your sd card. then use a file manager of your choice (astro, linda) to locate the .apk and install it to your phone. however, keep in mind YOU ALSO NEED TO HAVE THE PREMIUM LICENSE APK INSTALLED IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK. once ROM manager is up and running on your phone, just flash Clockwork through that.
edit: this is objective advice to help out, but please know that I do not support outside downloading of paid apps. and you might want to be careful because Clockwork is huge on this forum, and there are A LOT of supporters. you should be asking how to fix your market problem, not how to install ROM Manager for free. just my thoughts, good luck
Thanks for the reply...
I have installed ROM Manager through the apk file that I downloaded. But now how do I flash Recovery? The zip file is supposed to be for Recovery, but how do I do it?
Do I need to go into Recovery Mode and then click on the "Re-install Packages" thingy??? If yes, do I need to rename the zip file?
Your help will be greatly appreciated...

you need to flash the recovery through ROM manager....if thats not working its probably because you dont have the premium license for ROM manager downloaded. its used to protect against piracy...........why arent you trying to figure out how to fix your market instead
I did post a thread here but I didnt get much help...
I am not able to log into my Google account or any other Google based service (including Gmail and Google Maps). ROM Manager is also giving some internet error...
I am connected to WiFi and can use internet on my browser. Can do everything in the browser, including logging into Google...
So, if you can provide some help on this issue, that would even be nicer...

There are a few place where its mentioned to remove this folder: /data/data/com.android.providers.settings
Now how can I reach this folder? How can I access the terminal? If there is a separate app for that, which one is a good one and from where can I get it? (Remember I cannot access Android Market...)
Mannnnnnnnnn.......
I am learning a lot of new things since I bought my Vibrant...
So I was finally able to add my Google Account to my Vibrant... The Android Market and other Apps using Google are still not opening on Wifi, its very strange... I can use internet on my browser but the apps are still not able to use Wifi...
I hope I can figure this out as well, with your help...
okay here is my problem. If i remember, i took Adfree program or another similar ad blocker (for what i remember, its was simple to install)
My life was nice, no more ads in my free version of angry birds etc...BUT
am an hockey fan and i go on a site to view videos report of my team. The problem is when i try to watch thoses vids streaming, normaly theres a 15sec ad vid before the one i wanna see, but cause of that adfree program, i cant see the vid anymore, it is just loading and nothing is happening. Here is a screenshot
For your information, i tryed with my desktop computer and it work fine, i tryed uninstall and reinstall flash and it runs perfect on other sites.
So i wanted to remove the adfree program but it is not showing anywhere in my apps running or installed.
1- Anyone have a clue?
One more thing, i did rooted my tab with success, i can use rom manager but yesterday i tryed to open Titanium backup and it told me my tab wasnt rooted...
i see the superuser icon in my apps so..
2- Any clues on that one too?
Thanks for ur help
if you have cwr then install a custom rom on your tab, I recommended one of task's they come with internet ads blocked and flash view work fine, and are just better than stock roms in every way

reboot the device,
1. check for the adfree or adblock app in the application manager.
2. try to reload the titanium backup couple of times or check in the superuser whether titanium backup is allowed for root access.

1- i closed and started device like 10 times since i got this problem, i checked in app manager installed, running, all, cant find any track of an ad blocker program. i also checked with file manager HD
2- Fixed for titanium
please help me for #1
I think you granted temporary root permissions to Titanium Backup, so if you close the app, and open it again, you have to grant root again. You should click on "remember" checkbox.
Another thing you can do, is to open update SuperUser app from the Market, and then, open it, and go to Settings ---> Check binary SU updates, so you have the latest SU binary version.
About the flash thing, i have no idea, but.. have you tried with another Browser?? (Personally, i use Opera. Works like a charm. Really fast & smooth).
Hope i helped,g ood luck bro!

As i stated in post #4, problem is fixed for Titanium backup
My Main Problem is still there though.
Its not a question of using a diff browser, i want to delete/uninstall the adfree app from my tab dot.
The thing is that i cant find it anywhere, i even tryed to open titanium to see if adfree apps is showing so i cant delete data, but its not showing.
So i really need help now because i dont know where to look to find this freaking app and remove it.
Adfree or adblocker or whatever the name is, is not showing :
In app manager (running, installed, all)
In Titanium backup
In file manage HD (well i dont know exactly where to search but havent find anything with a similar name)
plz help
EDIT:
More info
usually when u install an app and u go back to the market, its say "open" instead of "install" well for adfree it still tell me "install"
Now i also searched a bit on the forum and i found some ad blocker program can be use without installing anything but by replacing an Host files.
I dont remember if it was my case, maybe since it doesnt seem that a have any adfree app installed BUT
I usually keep a copy of everything i put on my tab, and been around computer world for long enough to do a "backup" of any file i would replace.
I've looked on my pc, no sign of any host files that i dl or backuped.
So im totally out of anwsers.
One thing for sure, i did install something to removes ads and it work.
For the love of god, please help me !!

Try to uninstall it with titanium. Or use a file manager, navigate to /data/app, find the apk and delete it!

i really need help with the host files
i want to get back to default (ads allowed)
where to go ?
What you have to do is manually edit/replace the host file with a stock one.
Go to /system/etc/ and remove all the entries from the file named 'hosts' except the following one
127.0.0.1 localhost
OR
flash this zip in CWM

you can try updating the /system/etc/hosts file with
127.0.0.1 localhost
then reboot it.

Just a wild guess, but what browser are you using? Is it possible you installed the adblocker not as an app, but as a browser add-on extension? If so, you should be able to remove it from within the browser or make an exception rule for that one site.

am using the default web browser and like i wrote before.
I changed the hosts file following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509997
the hosts file i changed is the one located in /system/etc/hosts
the problem is that i didnt backup this file before replacing it, i never do that but it seem this time i did it.
So im looking for either the original host file or a way to put an exception for the site i want.

Hi there,
I'm using Gingerreal 2.0 as my first custom rom. It's really fast compared to stock and I like it very much.
I have one problem though: I've installed Alarm Clock Plus from the market but it doesn't seem to work. My alarm simply doesn't ring.
I didn't install the package with Samsung apps as I don't want all that crap. Should I install only the Samsung clock apk's? And if so, which ones should I install? (I see multiple apk's that seem to relate to clock/alarms)
Anyone can help me with this issue?
Thanks
Hi, I think I installed clockwidget.apk, deskclock.apk. Note though that it could also be a problem of DRM media drivers without which media fails to play or crashes, you need to copy drmprovider.apk, drmua.apk and sisodrmprovider.apk.
I also found I needed to install picotts.apk and ttsservice.apk as text-to-speech would always crash (and some 3rd party apps use it, thus they fail too).
You can just leave those apks and modify the zip of samsung apps and install those and see how it all works. I have working alarms, tts, and media playing on top of a very stable and fast ROM...
Can you give me more details on how to do that? I removed every apk from the zip file except the ones you mentioned. Then I tried to flash the zip with 'install zip from sdcard' but it ends up with installation aborted...
If you go to the gingerreal forum and search for the post by shinoxan on the 3rd page of the GR 2.0 thread, he posts a zip to fix the DRM problems; I used his zip and added the apks there. You could also try copying the apks directly using a rooted superuser shell...
His zip was hosted at megaupload, so I can't download that one. He mentioned to mount /system before flashing. I didn't mount /system yesterday so that might be the cause that it didn't work. I will try it tonight while /system is mounted.
Yes, I think that should fix it. PM me and i can send you a zip i used to update my TTS apps.
The packages from iandol worked ! Got my alarm back
Lets try to post the links:
Here is the mod I made for stopping TTS crashing with the clock and deskclock widgets, see if it works for you:

Here is the original DRM modification from shinoxan:

There's also multiple gapps packages out there. You could find a much smaller one that only contains the bare essentials and then install what you want from the play store. The down side to this is that the downloaded apps will use up internal storage where as apps included with the gapps package will use up your system storage (seperate partition.. or at least it is for the N4, it may be different here).

Find the gapps package that you need for you're rom and download it on you're PC... then use 7zip or another like program to open the zip....only in archive.. only in archive... :good:...do not unzip/extract it... after you have it up on you're PC.. in a window with 7zip/ect...remove the apk's you don't want and close it... push it to the phone and flash away...
Just be careful what you delete... there is a minimal gapps package around... where you could see what you can delete and what you need..
I mean you could delete everything but the playstore stuff and be functional, but some apps will only work correctly if they are part of the system partition... you could then push them to system app w/rom tool box or a similar app...
