Best 2 piece case for HTC Amaze or heavyduty case - HTC Amaze 4G

Hey guys I searched around for a good 2 piece case but all I found was this company trident?? I was kinda disappointed that OtterBox has not made 1.... too Anyways Basically I need the phone to survive a fall from my bike.... I do a lot of Trail Biking down Mountains....
Thanks for your Time!

Try the Ballistic or Case Mate Tough Case.
Chuck Norris can but Walker Texas Ranger can't.

I just got a Ballastic case coming from a TPU case. It does make the phone even more bulky but its built like a tank and feels good in the hand. No regrets.

Personally I think the T-Mobile D-30 is the best heavy-duty case all the buttons work perfect you should check out some videos on YouTube plus it has all the noise cancellation holes and a Mic hole that multiplies the noise cancellation
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

i had both trident cases, like the kraken more but those three holes on the back have something to do with Bluetooth cuz mine never worked, cases were great other than that, now i have a ballistic case and its great about the same protection, and it doesn't cover the holes on the back so Bluetooth and all that work great

case mate tough case also has those holes, i think it looks the best out of all the "tough" cases.

I own the ballistic. i have a friend who has the kraken trident. In my opinion the ballistic one is better. provides around the same level of protection and looks better.

Thanks guys for your suggestions! I have my eye more towards Ballistic and Case Mate, also my friend told me that this Incipio Silicrylic case is good to though.... Anyone tried that case?? lolz + it comes in a few different colours

The otterbox Defender HAS a built in Kickstand!

So... I just accidentally discovered this AWESOME feature. On the otterbox belt clip, if you pull the actual clip out as far as it will go(opening it as if you have a REALLY thick belt), a little clip on top will latch the clip open acting as a kickstand. Works PERFECTLY for me!

I got my Otterbox Defender for free. The Sprint Store Manager was trying to sell accessories. The store was having a like accessories sale or something and then when my family and I were getting our phones he came over and offered 3 BT Headsets, and 3 cases for 43 dollars.
My parents aren't the sharpest when it comes to phones so I started haggling with the guy. Swapped out the three BTs for an otterbox and a screen protector and the manager gave it to us for free.

Ya I miss a hard case and holster the leather cases are nice but don't off much protection against the daily use I like keepin my baby clean and shiny
The holsters I speak of were all plastic or plastic/rubber with belt clips. Not the cheap leather cases I hate. They had the defender, and I think the other brand was platinum or something that looked very strong and similiar to the Otterbox cases. They also had the case with the kickstand thats been posted everywhere. I think they had 1 or 2 others as well. I was actually pretty amazed at all the cases they had.
Thanks! Would've never noticed that!

As the evo 3d is an old phone, I bought the otterbox defender for under £3 delivered but it adds too much bulk and weight, so i ordered the otterbox commuter under £3 again and it is much lighter the phone weighs 200g now, not certain what it weighed with the defender, I also got a 10 pack of screen protectors for £1.25 as i am crap at putting them on, or i just hate it when i get dust underneath, but i manged 1st time and it looks great, nice an slick to the touch.
John.

Otterbox alternative?

I've had my first otterbox defender ever with this evo 3d and though I love the protection, I'm beyond annoyed with the rubber outer layer stretching so it doesn't fit right. I'm already on my second outer layer (they replaced it for me 2 or 3 weeks ago and its already out of shape).
Anything else someone recommends? I don't like the ballistic case btw, looks too bulky compared to otterbox.

no i plan on trying one out tho. i had one for the evo 4g, and never had problems with stretching.
I'd like to try the Kraken. If you get it, would you mind providing a little review? I emailed Otterbox about the replacement even stretching and see what they say before I make any additional purchases. Amazon has the Kraken for about $10 cheaper btw - just looked. but they only have a handful left... I hate when they do that, makes you feel like its now or never.

Thanks. I have been doing some research on the Kraken II too and getting more and more discouraged. I'll look at the Cyclops II and maybe Ballistic.
Otterbox offered to send me 2 replacements this time. I also asked why it is doing this and how I can prevent/minimize it but they ignored that part. I suppose I'll take the replacements, but I don't think I'm going to stick with Otterbox because of this issue. Just still don't know what else to get.

How about warping or stretching? Solid there?
Seidio's is nice. No stretching. I have extended battery so its bulky.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Thanks. which seidio? I'm eyeing the Active with kickstand. I think I did read they they were pretty easily warped by the camera button, but I might have that mistaken with case mate.
EDIT: Thanks for the help, I just went ahead and ordered a seidio.
heres a case that i recently purchased and absolutely love. not as protective at otterboxes or ballistic cases but it survived many nightmarish drops and came out just fine, not a nick or scratch on the case even.the kickstand design is very solid and its made of the same reinforced plastic polymer as otters and ballistic, and it incorporates a hard tpu skin. overall a futuristic design for a futuristic looking phone lol. also a great price

Still using the otterbox defender, never had a problem with the silicone stretching. Only thing i can see doing that is constantly taking the rubber off and on.
I don't remove the rubber layer at all. But I just showed my brother yesterday the problem and asked if he had that issue. He also has the e3d and otterbox defender. He doesn't at all. But we compared his outer layer to mine and his is thicker. I don't know why ours are different.

The "silicone" mixture can be different, that's why they ask for the vendor code when you get them to send you a new one, I would think its very easy to revise the ingrediants to make it fit better or worse, I think putting in my pocket and taking it out stretched out the sides and made it fit a lil lose compared to a new one, my replacement defender fit totally better than my first one, however the same problem did occur over time, again... So I'm with you in the hunt to find that perfect case,
Shot from my shooter in 3D
cleanrom2.8
Well, I'm liking this Seidio Active kickstand case I ordered so far. Doesn't feel quite as durable as otterbox, but enough protection for me. The silicone feel thinner and softer than my otterbox's too so we'll see. At least it's mostly the inner layer that's silicone with the outer hard plastic so maybe it will be ok.

I been rockin the hc black/black case since wedneseday. So far nothin but positive feelings. I posted a thread with pics of it next to the defender

Bumping this thread back up. I had the same problem with my Otterbox Commuter, where the silicon was stretching out too. They even sent me a replacement and the same thing still happened. I got the pink/white 'strength' version if it made a difference. I never took the silicon off that often and the phone is carried in my purse mostly. So I didn't understand how the silicon can stretch out like that.
Thinking of emailing them to let them know of the issue, but I don't really want any more phone cases from them. I ended up getting a Casemate slim case which I love. I also got the Casemate equiv of the Commuter and the silicon they use is much stiffer and fits a lot snugger.
OP you mentioned they offered you 2 replacements. Is it replacements for the same phone case? Or cases for other devices?

Trident Kraken II

Order one in red and it came today....i must say i am very impressed with this...i had an otterbox on my evo4g and didn't like it...the kick stand wasn't as sturdy and after a while the rubber got loose(thats what she said lol)and the power button had to be fiddled with on the case to make it hit the actual button on the phone...this case by trident seems better with the reversed design(soft sleeve under the hard outer shell). and it looks great on the phone!!!!!

The size is similar, but I believe the Cyclops is slightly larger.
Trident advantages are mainly the ability to be able to touch the screen edge and no more lint on your case. But the lack of soft rubber on the outside does make it quite a bit less grippy.
Overall I think the Cyclops leaves the Defender defenseless.
This case is the best case I have seen out for our phones to date. I absolutely love it. Kickstand is rock solid and the case just feels nice in your hand. Most important it can slide in and out of your pocket easily!
Pros-
Camera button works well
Kickstank is the best I have seen
Screen and camera protectors ( I don't use them but they look well done for someone who uses them )
Hard outside case slides in pocket well
Cons-
Sometime hard to open charge port cover
I will post pictures of it next to my defender and commuter otter box cases for comparison ... The kraken is maybe a slight bit thicker than the defender but unnoticeable really

Does the Kraken II have a dust filter over the speaker ports (both the earpiece and the speakerphone)? I'm currently using the Otterbox Defender, and I'm getting tired of having to open it up to clean dust from between the screen and the case.
Also, can the holster be used to hold the phone with the screen facing out? I've set my Otterbox holster in the car to hold the phone that way for convenience.

The best part of using otterbox is there warranty is the best yet. They will replace your case and holster and let you keep your old one. Trident warranty is slow and a pain.

How is the holster part from the pic I seen of it looks tiny? Does it hold the phone in place pretty well? Im hoping since the holster is so tiny I don't catch it on something and have the phone pop out.
My phone popped out once....but I'm a rough guy...mechanic by trade so me scooting on the floor under a car and having my phone come out of the clip isn't so uncommon no matter what case it is. if you get any case with black silicone (trident, case-mate, otterbox, incipio, etc), the lint will be obviously visible. you can remedy that by getting a colored one

Definitely an awesome case. Am using the Matte Black version.
Cost is real good, and doesn't make the phone look bulky at all, easily slips in and out of the pocket
You may initially feel that since there is no volume rocker cut-out it would be difficult to use (some video reviews also show that), but trust me it does not feel uncomfortable at all. On the contrary, the divided volume rocker on the case actually has a nice feel to it.
Checkout this portion of a video, should give you a fair idea

Yeah I was looking for a TPU case, I liked my red sensation case much that I didn't want any kid of material, I bought the matte black as well, I was considering the smoke glass matte translucent case but I didn't know if I was going to like the color scheme over the white amaze, anyway, I watched the video and too bad they didn't have any colors, oh well the case looks great though can't wait to get it in the mail, anyone have the smoked glass one over a white amaze? Let me know what you think

Just ordered the case-mate tough case.
$28 after 20% off with '4MOM' code.
I had a hard time deciding between this one and the trident aegis case, but decided the extra $8 is worth the peace of mind of knowing the three pin holes around the camera aren't blocked and I think this case looks a bit slimmer. There isn't much information out there for the Amaze version, but the Sensation tough case is well reviewed. So I am hoping the Amaze one will be the same.

I had one of these for my Inspire. I liked the feeling of the plastic as it gave some good grip but I hated the rubber portion. It collected everything including lint and it was way to tacky.
Which Case Mate is that? How does it go? Is the first layer silicone and the outer lay plastic?
Right now I have the Reiko Hybrid case -- very durable, but very heavy and thick. I'm debating getting the Case Mate, Ballistic, or Trident.

My gNote is not insured so I wanted a case that would provide a good degree of protection without adding too much bulk. I felt this case would meet this need. It has a good grip and solid construction.
My only gripe is the the silicon is not tight on the edge on the top and bottom! Ugg! The hard shell does not hold the inner silicon in place on the top and bottom, the way it does on the sides. When pulling the phone out of my pocket the lose silicone drags/clings. So I think this action may make the silicone baggy/loser over time.

Comments about loose fitting silicone and the pics showing it to be a dust magnet are disappointing. I was really hoping this would do the trick. I have the Reiko Hybrid case. It's protective but it's a monster.
Now that the Candyshell case AT&T wanted $40 for is in the low $20's, I may be revisiting that. I still don't like the glossy back's scratch magnet aspects but its slim and the silicone (TPU?) layer holds tight to the surface of the phone.
I fixed the loose silicone on top and bottom with some double sided sticky tape. Works like a charm!
Now that I have had a chance to use it for a week or so, I have to agree with the OP. It feels very good in the hand and totally secure.
