I found this method of Root for EVO3D the only thing you need is unlock from HTC Dev.com I want to ask what kind of warranty i lose with unlocking at HTCdev if only software warranty or complete warranty?
Thank you.
Go to HTC's website and read the terms and conditions. It's all right there.
Also what hboot are you on ??

Rooting always voids your warranty.
How if you unroot and relock your bootloader? Did the HTC guys would know it was unlock before?

It will show as relocked. Its a watermark that HTC added to show that it has been unlocked.
And if you phone does end up getting broken most sprint employees don't care.
Matter of fact went I first went to get my evo 3d (first and Android) he showed me his unlocked phone.

Guys from one czech site wrote that you only need HTC unlock and it works then....
I heared that someone's battery was holding just few hours after month of purchase or something like that and he got replacement battery for rooted phone But that's probably the only thing that warranty applies.

Has anyone tried to root their phone after installing this update? Is there an equivalent update for rooted phones?
I read in another thread that someone tried and revolutionary does NOT work (yet) with Hboot 1.50.

No it won't work yet.
Yes there are equivalent updates for rooted phones. Check the first couple pages in the dev section and you should find them.

They also said themselves not to take the update. At least that is what I remember seeing.
Still don't understand why ppl are using htcs unlock. Alpharevs way is easy, n doesn't void warranty. From what I've read its tough to install a recovery and basically screws you.

Well from the legal standing alpharevs does void warranty just harder to tell. Another reason to figure this out is soon all new evo 3ds sold will already have the hboot 1.50. Most be something otherwise it would be lame as hell to have htc unlock a bootloader that does nothing.

Htc's method needs to stop being compared to rev's method... Htc only unlocked it. Meaning that the devs will still need to come up with the method for the rest. (s-off and the rest) think of it like the old evo unlocked but still needed dev work for soff and recovery...

It depends on your hboot version.
Is your device S-OFF or S-ON?
Did you use revolutionary method, or HTCDev unlock?

Well let me see if I can help. First thing first you have to unlock your phone, then flash a custom recovery and then a ROM.
I'm not on my pc right now but go looking for the ROM you want to flash and i will give you the help you need in my next post.

Thankss you for your helpful. but I'm not sure whether my phone can be unlocked or not as I checked through HTCDEV site, Testra branded is not listed as a support device so far. Not sure anybody in this community has EVO 3D Testra unlocked, rooted and running custom roms so far?
It can't hurt to try to unlock it. Just cd to your tools/fastboot and type in fastboot oem get_unlock_code if it gives you a code your good to go if you get an error your hboot doesn't support it.

Does your Cell Provider sell that phone? or you just bought it and placed your SIM to it? if you bought it and it was from another network provider, just look up the original provider in the HTCDEV website and perform what our friend advised in the post before me.
Give it a try and lets see what happens, doesn't hurt.
Thank all and will try one when free.

Hi guys, i know that is a frequently question but i can't find informations anywhere. If i root my htc evo 3d with HTC SuperTool V3 i will loose warranty?
Only root not unclock bootloader. And if I do a factory reset, the root will remain?
Thanks.

rooting it also voids the warrenty bc youre using something that alters the original file settings of the software that they gave you ...and just doing a factory reset shouldnt fix the problem to get rid of it there is a whole different set of steps to perform for that to vanish from the system
If you need send it for repair then you should try to restore it the state it was in when you bought it, I did it with my DHD to.
But best hope not need use warranty. I just s-off it and run custom roms, HTC even allows it now, they just if you have an unlocked bootloader that it could void certain parts off your warranty.
I guess if your phone goes to repair centre and you brought it back to s-on and back on stock rom then you have no problem.
All right. But i'll not do any modifications. Only root. But if i use HTC SUPERTOOL to root it, i can unroot it easy with this tool and i'll not loose warranty right?!
Please answer yes or no. I havent asked about s-off.

if youre not going to do any modifications to the phone there is no need to root the device and chance the possibility of it watermarking your phone and voiding a warrenty....
..... No modifycation about s-off anch each others not about root. Samsung is soo easy to root and unroot. Anyway if i root anfmd then i unroot i loose yes or no the warranty?!?!?!?! In samsung this isn't happening. Why here isn't the same.

yes you do lose the warrenty and the reason it isnt the same is just that reason... its an HTC phone... if you wanted it to work like a samsung then you should have researched more into the device before you purchased it
... I will never write in xda forum any question. Anytime i get a moral...

If you root as long as you don't brick it or fry the CPU if hardware issue your tep should still be good man.
Sent from the Reaper.
The same goes for s-off, with mine HTC Desire HD I also had it s-off but when I had an problem I managed to put it back to stock and on s-on.
But I read on internet that some people didnt do that and they still got there warranty. But you know HTC sends the phones to repair centres. But I think you don't need worry that your phone will be broken, as HTC makes good phones.
And they handle warranty good, but I guess most costumers will never need to use it, there is an reason why HTC gives 2 years warranty, that just means they are confident that it should work flawless for 2 years, so they guarantee that for you by giving you 2 years warranty.
Because HTC can also give 1 year, because its factory warranty, its the store who need handle your warranty at least that the way it is in my country.
Just take good care off your phone and when its raining heaving don't get it out your pocket, I believe my DHD started getting problems after an heavy rain, not like I was using it continue, but just short time.
Well since then I think twice before taking phone out off my pocket, if there is no need just let it be there until you find a place to cover.
JuopunutBear and team have done it again. S-OFF for the EVO 4G LTE!
Root is required. Unlocked is NOT required... but supported! Support for Linux and Windows.

Looks promising although since I've already unlocked via HTC dev what's the advantage of s off..as I understand we can already flash radios etc..also it requires root..how is that possible if u didn't unlock with HTC dev
I'm rooted but not unlocked with HTCdev. They are 2 different things.

why would i want to pay for insurance? my phone is covered under 1 year warranty. i change phones every year anyways. i never buy warranty for anything
So does this essentially unlock the bootloader and give s-off?
So can I run this with an unrooted phone? I was reading the pre requisite and said you needed to be rooted/temp, which doesn't that mean htcdev unlocked?
I want to avoid htcdev unlock...

Its basically what every has already done except your phone will say S-off instead of S-on....no additional features. U can do everything u were able to do before.

Cool. Once someone has a write up or script to relock, unroot, unlock again with s-off and reroot so i don't get that red text on boot let me know. That would be the only reason i care about this.
Hopefully the devs didn't waste a good exploit that could have been used on a phone that needed it.
Hello! Everytime I have trouble with my phone or other devices, I come to these forums because everybody is always so helpful. Thank you for that!
Anyways,
Recently, weird white blemishes have been appearing on my HTC Evo V from Virgin Mobile, and I think it's because I dropped it. I was planning on returning it to get a replacement, but then remembered that I have an unlocked Bootloader and I'm rooted. I know this means my warranty is probably voided, but is there any way I could lock the Bootloader and restore it so I can, in a way, "Un-void" my warranty? I heard there are some ways to do this but I'm not sure. Help is needed, thank you everybody!
Specs:
HTC Evo V 4G
Virgin Mobile
Rooted
S-ON
**UNLOCKED**
Currently running Midnight ROM
Since you have status s-on there is no way to change unlocked to locked..
First u must make wiretrick or revolutionary to gain status s-off then u can change yor bootloder to locked.
