Hello Guy's
I just connected my tfp to my TV via HDMI and I notice that the bottom bar is extended.
Why is this? Is it a bug or feature?
I attached screenshots to show it.
Kind regards,
Brantje

It's supposed to do that. I assume you are hooked up to a widescreen tv? The bar extends like that to make the Primes screen match the aspect ratio of the monitor it's hooked up to. I believe if you hook up to a monitor with the same exact ratio as the Prime, it will not do that.
Hope that helps

Plugged it into a HD beamer. Max resolution is 1900*1600
Is there a way to disable it?
The resolution of the prime is 1280x800 with the bar. Because the prime uses a 16:9 resolution over hdmi it's adjust the screen of the prime to match the one of the tv/projector.

Thanks! i adjusted the aspect ratio of the beamer to 16:9, and now there is no extended bar now

it is from the N73 and idk why i love it but its my fav... does anyone know where i could download a version i could use on my galaxy s 2? I would love thanks! thanks
EDIT**
found the file:
just not good quality when applied to my phone, is there a way to fix the resolution? Im not good with photo editing
How picky are you about how it looks? I can't do anything about the original, but 5 mins in photoshop should produce a very close replica.

that would be sweet
Edit: Ok, here is the 800x480 version of the picture. The caveat is that I can not get it to display properly on my phone. Under the select wallpaper screen it fits perfectly, but then it shows up funky when you look at the actual home screen.
Edit 2: Use this version, but do not crop out the black. For some reason it is only displaying 1/2 of the image, so by adding extra it displays the whole wallpaper cleanly.
Edit 3: If you need a scrollable version let me know.

THANKS! now if only i could get the icons, your the best!
In the main Android forum there is a massive thread full of icon sets. I suggest looking there. You probably won't find something identical, but you may find something similar.
So I've had a Galaxy 10.1 and now the transformer prime. While I wasn't able to compare them side by side, it seems like the readability of the galaxy was better. On the prime there seems to be some stray pixels around next making it hard to read. I've attached a screenshot. If you zoom in, you can see on every S, P, O, etc, a couple pixels illuminated below the letter. Is this what everyone is seeing?
Edit: In order to attach full size screenshot, I had to upload the png as a zip. So download and change extension to png.
Is it possible to upload a screenshot in the native resolution of the Prime? (1280x800) because in this tiny picture it isn't visible I guess.

Uploaded the PNG as a zip. Just change the extension when you download it.
Yeah, if you're trying to find out if the screen is bad...
Please take a picture of your screen.
A screenshot is only giving us what the s/w is displaying (that is, your shot shows nothing), you're asking about a display hardware issue.
*EDIT:
Here's his screenshot.
Looks no different than mine, except I use large font...

Ok, so I guess my question is changing...is the software dorked up and causing the problem? I'm guessing that everyone's will look similar to the problems that I'm seeing. Its just strange in that the reviews for the screen on the prime have been very complementary.
Are you just referring to the gray pixels at the bottoms of "curved" letters?
That's just going to be the choice in font and how it's handling rounding our corners using pixels.
Through the Prime's actual display it's not even noticeable, only through rasterized images like these... To me at least...
You'll definitely notice differences in text between a Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Honeycomb and a Prime running ICS. Google completely changed the system font in ICS and while I find text to be overall smoother in ICS, it does have some instances where it's not as "sharp" (due to the anti-aliasing they're using to make it look smoother).
It looks fine to me, try looking on a different computer and see if the issue is still present. My first prime had band of pink and green and even the screenshot i uploaded looked like what i was seeing however i was reading my post on my pc and there was no issue present. It was a gpu issue with my prime.
Take a picture with a camera thats what i did.
When I am using the Prime, it seems I can only use 1 window at a time.
Example: if I stream from Youtube, and want to check "WiFi analyzer or Speedtest", the stream is interrupted.
Is there a way that the tablet can allow me to have several task running, like in the above example or similar?
Well for that example you listed you can get an app called stickit. It allows you to watch your videos or streams while doing whatever else you want. Its just like a PC when you bring up a movie screen then you can resize it and move it all over tthe screen. For example I can be browsing the web while watching the video in the little screen. You can make screen as big or small as you want. It plays continuously and doesn't stop no matter what you doing. The screen follows you wherever you go until you close it.
Here is screenshot example I just took. Love this app.

Anyway, yeah, there's no stock way to do what you want. Demandarin, that's a great app! I just don't understand why ICS doesn't have such things built in, you'd think they'd be trying to push true multi-tasking at the user's discretion.
Seems to me that Google's just not trying to replace PC's like I'd like them to. I love messing around with my x86 Honeycomb (beats the hell out of Windows 8).

Wow! Thanks for the tip. I thought I was going to have to wait for Cornerstone for something like this. Does Stickit work with any stream app or site?
Hi guys
I am using a MHL - HDMI cable for TV out and it all works quite well. Infact quite impressed by the quality of it. But having one problem though, unable to swith off the display while connected to TV. I wish there is an app or something to turn the mobile display off. Do you guys know any app like that?
I found video players which could reduce the brightness but nothing to turn off the display..
I don't want to kill the display just by keeping it on all the time.
Very good question!

I haven't tried but can you just lock the phone? Or does that kill MHL out too?

There's an app called 'lux auto brightness' by Vito cassisi and it can make your phone go so dark, it looks like it's turned off. There a manual setting you can use. I use it all the time to conserve battery

That's an example of how dark it gets and if you look closely you can see my icons and circle battery clock to prove it's not off
Thanks shadowskorch, looks like a good app. I tried root dim, though it was able to reduce the brightness it was still very visble unlike your one.
Hi Dazedstate
No if you lock the phone, you will loose the signal. The cable is mirroring the phone screen.
What would be good though is to cut the screen out if connected to MHL cable, have no idea how hard this would. I will check with our super developers.
Hello,
Im trying to create a larger size galaxy note for a class project, would anyone be able to help me?
Basically I want to export the Note to portrait mode on to a Vertical screen, anyone have any ideas?
I was thinking of a tv that has portrait mode.
Do you have an MHL adaptor? I use my note many times to give a lecture sending the note screen to an LCD projector.
I also set my note under a doc cam and project that too.
If you only want a static picture take a picture of your note and print it on plastic transparancy film and use an overhead projector.
Or take the picture to Kinkos FedEx and they will print a poster.

MHL adaptor connects through micro USB port to t.v. High Def input.

Hi ranger,
thanks for the reply, I do have an MHL adapter and it does export properly. Basically I have to recreate the phone as it it was standing in portrait mode while have the same functionality as you were to look at a working demo while making the tv vertical. (refer to pic) Once it works im thinking of putting a frame over to make it look like the actual phone. Im think I would need a tv that's capable of a vertical display.
A large monitor is more like it.
You can use a wii remote control to make the monitor behave like a touch screen.

the main challenge is running the phone in portrait mode while the screen is vertical.
most of the time it will look like this
Some monitors can rotate. I don't know that a tv can.
Notice you said we can use a wiimote with the Note to make the tv behave like a touch screen? would you mind explaining how I can achieve that? I currently have my ps3 remote working with it, but it isn't the greatest for navigating the interface
